In this video, we’re going to talk about the best apple cider vinegar.

What makes the ideal apple cider vinegar? What criteria should you look for in high-quality apple cider vinegar? Take a look.

Here are the criteria for a quality apple cider vinegar:

1. Organic – Apples are a part of the dirty dozen, which are the foods with the most exposure to pesticides. Make sure the apple cider vinegar is made from 100% organic apples.

2. Unpasteurized/raw – Heat can destroy many of the helpful enzymes in apple cider vinegar. You want the enzymes to be active to help support healthy digestion.

3. Mother – Mother is the sediment in apple cider vinegar that contains beneficial probiotics. Make sure this is not removed from the ACV.

4. Unfiltered/not distilled- Distilled vinegar, like white vinegar, are refined products. Avoid any filtered, distilled, or refined kinds of vinegar. You want all of the natural benefits to be included in your apple cider vinegar.

5. Undiluted – Some companies may dilute apple cider vinegar with water or other kinds of vinegar. Avoid any ACV that is not 100% apple cider vinegar.

6. Made from whole apples – Make sure the vinegar you use is not made out of only the core or skin of the apple. You need the whole apple for all of the beneficial properties.

I used to primarily use Bragg apple cider vinegar. However, there’s another brand that I started using that may be even better. This is Fairchild’s apple cider vinegar by Golden Valley Vinegar. Bragg vinegar is 25% less potent than Fairchild’s ACV.

Maximize the Anti-Cancer Effects of Garlic

Consultants are available Monday through Friday from 8 am to 10 pm EST. Saturday & Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm EST. USA Only.

In this video, I want to show you how to maximize the anti-cancer effects of garlic. When you combine two certain chemicals together that are both in a garlic clove, you get a chemical called allicin.

To maximize this potent potential anti-cancer chemical (allicin), all you have to do is crush the garlic clove and wait for 10 minutes. If you crush it and don’t wait 10 minutes, you won’t get the maximum benefits.

If you heat garlic, you could destroy 99% of this chemical, and you lose the anti-cancer effects. Soaking garlic in acid like apple cider vinegar can also diminish allicin. Putting garlic in hot tea is another thing that can limit this chemical’s potency.

It’s very important to crush garlic or at least chop it. Chewing mint leaves can help with bad breath after eating garlic.

Potential benefits of garlic (allicin):
• It may have potent anti-cancer effects
• It can support healthy blood sugars
• It can support cardiovascular function
• It’s anti-microbial
• It may help increase your endurance
• It’s anti-inflammatory

6:22 Bulletproof your immune system *free course!

Today we’re going to talk about what the pituitary is and what it does. The pituitary is part of the endocrine system.

The pituitary receives data and adapts various functions of the body to your environment to make sure you stay at a certain constant. This has to do with something called homeostasis, the ability to be stable within your environment. For example, if it’s cold, your body is going to pick up information and adapt to the cold.

The hypothalamus sends down a plan (various reactions for various situations) to the pituitary. The pituitary acts similarly to a manager in a business, coordinating employees to get certain things done and making sure those things get done.

The pituitary has a front part called the anterior and a back part called the posterior.

The anterior part of the pituitary gland is involved with:
• The thyroid (the release of the thyroid hormone)
• The adrenal (the release of cortisol and other hormones)
• The gonads (the release of hormones from the ovaries or the testicles)
• Prolactin (is involved in lactation)
• The liver (is involved with growth hormone and IGF1)
• Enkephalins and endorphins (are involved with decreasing pain)

The posterior part of the pituitary gland is involved with:
• Oxytocin (is involved with the release of breastmilk and the contraction of the uterus)
• Vasopressin (is involved with the retention of fluid in the kidney)

In this video, we’re going to talk about some interesting research that proves that soils are not depleted of nutrients—instead, there’s something else interesting going on.

The best predictor for plant growth isn’t the minerals and other nutrients in the soil; the best predictor for plant growth is the fungal-bacteria ratio.

As we use pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides on farmland, the soil becomes depleted of fungus. When this happens, the bacteria grow out of control. This leaves the crops with hardly any fungus and way too much bacteria.

Fungus plays an important role in breaking down minerals. Without fungus, plants aren’t able to absorb the mineral in the soil. This is why many farmers have to add nutrients to their soil.

You need a 1:1 ratio of bacteria and fungus to make nutrients soluble for plants.

How do low levels of nutrients in plants affect our bodies? We need both nutrients and microorganisms in our bodies to break down and utilize nutrients. Without these important friendly fungi and bacteria, you can develop a nutrient deficiency.

2:50 Why sodium supports your energy
4:53 How to bulletproof your immune system (free course!)

In this video, we’re going to talk about the first symptom of a salt deficiency. The first symptom of sodium deficiency is feeling weak or tired.

Fun facts: Salad in Latin means salted greens. Salary in Latin means salt.

You should never consume refined salt. Instead, have organic sea salt. Refined salt only contains sodium chloride—it doesn’t contain the other vital minerals.

One role of sodium in the body is to create hydrochloric acid (HCL) to help digest protein, break down minerals, and kill off pathogens. Many people are low in HCL because they don’t consume enough salt.

The average person needs a minimum of 1 tsp. of sea salt per day. If you exercise or do keto, you will need more than this.

Low sodium diets that have you drinking lots of water can dilute the salt and flush it from your body, leaving you deficient in sodium. Additionally, a high-carb diet can cause you to retain sodium in the wrong places.

If you notice that you feel weak or tired, try increasing your sodium and see if the problems go away.

An electrolyte powder can help replenish your sodium and other electrolytes.

Sodium is crucial for normal energy levels because it…
• Excites the cardiac muscle
• Regulates calcium
• Is involved in the sodium-potassium pump
• Is vital to creating energy in the mitochondria

One last fun fact—sea water is virtually identical to the watery portion of your blood!

In summary, make sure you have enough sodium in your diet by having at least one teaspoon of organic sea salt a day to support healthy energy levels and other low-sodium symptoms.

In this video, we’re going to talk about lard and coconut oil—which one has more saturated fat?

Coconut oil has 90% saturated fat, while lard has 40% saturated fat (50% monounsaturated).

The question is, why would you be concerned about saturated fat? For the last 5-6 decades, people have been afraid of saturated fat based on a lie. A scientist in the 50s omitted information from a study, which led to a false conclusion. This then started a campaign to get millions of people to stop consuming fat.

Recently, the new dietary guidelines finally changed their viewpoint on cholesterol and fats. It now says that increased cholesterol does not increase the risk of heart disease.

The problem with seed oils is that when you cook them, you create trans fats. When you reheat them, you also create more trans fats. Trans fats can cause some serious damage.

When you combine trans fats with heat and with carbohydrates or starches, you get another toxic chemical and other things that cause proteins to become very sticky. This can potentially lead to certain health problems.

It’s interesting that there are actually certain vegetables with virtually zero carbs. I’m talking about net carbs because fiber is a carb. But, fiber doesn’t affect blood sugars. These vegetables are high in phytonutrients and have all sorts of amazing properties. Of course, the lower the carb, the more keto-friendly it is too.

The only time that consuming vegetables may not be a good idea is if you had a serious gut inflammatory situation. But, for most people, I believe it’s good to consume foods that are as low on the carbohydrate scale as possible.

Vegetables with almost zero carbs (1 cup):
Broccoli:

Let’s talk about the health benefits of cacao and dark chocolate. Cacao is the raw bean that’s fermented and processed into chocolate. Cacao and dark chocolate are both loaded with phytonutrients (polyphenols and flavonols). They actually have higher amounts than blueberries or açaí berries.

There is a small amount of caffeine in cacao and dark chocolate, as well as a good amount of theobromine (a stimulant). So, if you have cacao or dark chocolate later in the day or before bed, it may keep you up.

I consume a little bit of chocolate on a regular basis, but I always consume chocolate that is organic and doesn’t contain sugar. A few brands I like are Lily’s Sweets and Choc Zero.

Cacao and dark chocolate are high in oxalates. So, if you’re at risk for kidney stones, you may not want to consume either one.

Potential health benefits of dark chocolate and cacao:
1. Decreased blood pressure
2. Increased HDL and decreased LDL (especially oxidized LDL)
3. Decreased risk of heart disease (decreased endothelial dysfunction)
4. Decreased cortisol and adrenaline
5. Decreased risk of certain cancers
6. Decreased insulin (may improve insulin resistance)
7. Decreased risk of strokes
8. Better mood and increased serotonin (it can act as an antidepressant)
9. Increased physical performance
10. Increased skin circulation, texture, hydration
11. Decreased metabolic syndrome

3:01 How to bulletproof your immune system

In this video, we’re going to talk about why 97% of overweight people gain the weight back after reaching their dieting goals.

I believe this is because most dieters don’t have a second goal. You can’t expect to stay at a healthy weight and not continue to eat healthy foods and exercise.

Once you reach your desired weight, you can’t just revert to an unhealthy lifestyle.

You have to give your body what it wants and needs, and it will give you what you want in return.

What does your body really want? It wants real, healthy foods that are full of nutrients—not processed junk and empty calories.

In summary, you don’t need a weight loss goal. Instead, you need a get-healthy goal. If you continually work on building up your health, you will hit your weight loss goals naturally.

Keep in mind that carbohydrate cravings are not natural. They only begin after you start eating refined carbs. When you get healthy, you will find that your cravings for carbs go away.

In this video, we’re going to talk about selenium. Selenium is a trace mineral. This means you only need small amounts of it, but it’s very important. Selenium helps you convert T4 to T3 (the active form of the thyroid hormone). A selenium deficiency can lead to symptoms of hypothyroid. Your DNA also needs selenium to be created.

Foods rich in selenium:
• Brazil nuts
• Tuna
• Shrimp
• Sardines
• Sea kelp

If you consume foods high in selenium, but you’re experiencing selenium deficiency symptoms, it could be because of a few things, including:
• You have intestinal absorption problems
• You had gastric bypass surgery
• You’re over the age of 90
• You’re on statins

Symptoms of a selenium deficiency:
1. Glutathione deficiency (can lead to heart problems)
2. Infertility
3. Myocardial necrosis
4. Muscle weakness
5. Mood problems, anxiety, and confusion
6. Fatigue and brain fog
7. Hair loss
8. Low sperm count

I’m reading a very interesting book called “Hooked” by Michael Moss. In this book, he talks about the brain on processed foods, and I want to share a little bit about this.

This book is really about how much more addicting processed foods can be than alcohol, smoking, or even drugs. The speed at which the sugar touches your tongue and connects to the reward circuitry of your brain is about 600 milliseconds. This is 20 times faster than if you were to smoke a cigarette and have nicotine enter the brain.

Apparently, some food companies have even suppressed some of the research on sugar. Not only that, but they’ve influenced various laws to prevent being sued for side effects that occur from consuming processed foods. In the 70s, food companies even started buying up the diet industry.

I believe processed foods and sugar fit into the category of addictions. There are certain criteria that must be met to diagnose addiction or substance use disorder. If you meet 2-3 of the criteria, you have a mild substance use disorder. If you meet 4-5, this is considered a moderate substance use disorder. If you meet 6 or more, you have a severe substance use disorder.

The criteria includes:

1. Hazardous use
Is the substance dangerous to yourself or others? Can you overdose on it?

2. Social or interpersonal problems related to use
Are there relationship problems or conflicts with others related to use?

3. Neglected major roles
Failing to meet responsibility at work, school, or home because of substance use.

4. Withdrawal
When you stop using the substance, you experience withdrawal symptoms.

5. Tolerance
You’ve built up a tolerance to the substance, so you have to do more to get the same effect.

6. Use larger amounts or use the substance for longer periods of time

7. Repeated attempts to control use or quit
You’ve tried to cut back or quit entirely but have not been successful.

8. Much time spent using
You dedicate a lot of time to the substance or eating the processed food.

9. Physical or psychological problems related to use
Your substance abuse has lead to physical health problems, such as liver damage or lung cancer, or psychological problems, such as depression or anxiety.

10. Giving up on activities
You’ve stopped doing some of the activities you once enjoyed in order to use the substance.

11. Cravings
You experience cravings for the substance.

Stress is actually necessary to make you stronger. Without stress, your body weakens. But, of course, you need the correct balance of stress and recovery. The body has an urge to survive. When stressed, the body reacts by adapting and getting stronger.

How stress makes you stronger:
1. The immune system:
You’re born with a part of the immune system called the innate immune system, which is given to you by your mother based on her stress and adaptation. Then, you also have the acquired immune system. This something that you develop over time as you’re exposed to infection. You have to go through different forms of stress to develop the antibodies, to develop a stronger immune system.

2. Exercise:
This is a stress that breaks down muscle tissue and creates damage. But, in the recovery phase, with the help of hormones, you become stronger.

3. Fasting
When you deprive the microbes in your body of nutrients, they live longer and become more diversified. Your body goes through various amazing things when fasting.

4. Phytonutrients
One of the purposes of a phytonutrient is to act as a pesticide or insecticide. When you consume phytonutrients, you’re getting exposed to this, and your body can become stronger and more resistant to it.

5. Cold and hot
Cold and hot temperatures can stimulate certain mechanisms to make you stronger and create a healing effect. Cold temperatures may be more effective than hot.

6. Decreased oxygen:
Depriving your body of a small amount of oxygen can cause your red blood cells to adapt and become stronger. You can do this by wearing a certain mask while exercising.

7. Radiation
A small amount of radiation, from the sun, for example, can cause an adaptation effect where your body becomes stronger and more resistant to it.
