Why Protein Helps Hypoglycemia (Low Blood Sugar)

Here’s what consuming protein may do if you have hypoglycemia. Check this out.

3:04 What you can do for hypoglycemia

In this video, we’re going to talk about protein and hypoglycemia, and I’m going to cover how protein affects blood sugar.

With hypoglycemia, what happens, is when the blood sugar goes up, insulin pushes it down, leaving you with low blood sugar. People with low blood sugar typically have a higher amount of insulin pushing blood sugar down, and there are no counter hormones to push the blood sugar back up.

Hypoglycemia symptoms:

• Fatigue
• Dizziness
• Irritableness
• Grouchiness
• Dry eyes
• Depression

Some people have this idea that the fuel that the body uses is either glucose, fat, or ketones. But, protein can be used as fuel too. Protein can be converted into glucose through a process called gluconeogenesis. Protein can act as a fuel in addition to replacing the protein in your body. This is why when you consume protein when you have low blood sugar, you start feeling better.

If you have hypoglycemia and you were to consume carbohydrates, you might feel better for a minute, but then the insulin will kick the blood sugar back down. When you consume protein, you will stimulate some insulin, but at the same time, you will stimulate glucagon. Glucagon is the opposing hormone to insulin. Glucagon will raise the blood sugar, and insulin will lower it, creating a leveling effect.

I actually recommend a moderate amount of protein. I believe what may be best for those with hypoglycemia is to get on the healthy ketogenic diet combined with intermittent fasting.

Is COVID-19 Really Mutating and Becoming More Deadly?

COVID-19: is it really mutating? Find out.

In this short video, we’re going to talk about mutations and COVID-19 mutation.

In the news, they’re talking about how COVID-19 (the coronavirus) is a deadly virus that’s mutating and becoming more dangerous over time. I don’t believe this is true.

A mutation is a change in the genetic code of something. COVID-19 does not appear to mutate significantly. With COVID-19, there could potentially be 2-6 mutations per month. The flu actually has 4-12 mutations per month.

• COVID-19 is relatively stable (it’s less likely to become more dangerous as it spreads)

• The bulk of mutations of COVID-19 don’t change how it functions.

6:05 Breaking down the digestive tract—P.N.S

In this video, we’re going to talk about how to speed up your digestion. If you have constipation, indigestion, gas, bloating, or stomach pain, this video is for you. I’m actually going to break down each part of your digestive tract and explain a little bit about it.

Breaking down the digestive tract:

Stomach —
Acid is the key thing in your stomach. It helps you break down protein, absorb certain minerals, and kill pathogens. Many people do not have enough strong acid in their stomach.

To support healthy stomach acid levels, consider:
• Hydrochloric acid (betaine hydrochloride)
• Salt
• Potassium
• Apple cider vinegar
• Kombucha tea

Consider avoiding:
• Antacids
• Calcium carbonate

Bile —
Bile is made by the liver and stored in the gallbladder. Bile helps you break down fats. Supporting bile production can also help with bloating and belching.

To support bile production, consider:
• Bile salts
• Beet tops
• Ginger
• Artichokes
• Lemon
• Milk thistle
• Choline

Consider avoiding:
• Decreasing friendly bacteria
• Taking out the gallbladder if possible
• A fatty liver situation

Enzymes —
A lot of enzymes are produced by your pancreas. Your small intestine, stomach, and microbes in your intestines can also make certain enzymes. Enzymes help you break down carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. Heat destroys enzymes.

To support enzymes, consider:
• Taking a blend of enzymes
• Consuming more raw foods

Consider avoiding:
• Too many cooked foods
• Pasteurized foods

Flora —
This is your friendly bacteria. Most of the flora in your body are in your large intestine.

To support your flora, consider:
• Taking a probiotic
• Consuming prebiotic foods (vegetable fiber)

Consider avoiding:
• Frequent antibiotic use if possible
• GMO foods

P.N.S —
Your parasympathetic nervous system is all about rest and digestion.

To support and stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, consider:
• Lowering stress
• Increasing B1
• Increasing potassium
• Increasing magnesium

Is Sweden Doing the Right Strategy with COVID-19?

The strategy being used against the coronavirus in Sweden is very different than the strategies being used in other parts of the world, regarding COVID-19. Could they have the right idea?

INTERESTING VIDEO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfN2JWifLCY

2:06 The second wave of infection

Today we’re going to talk about how Sweden’s strategy regarding COVID-19. In Sweden, they aren’t under any lockdowns or quarantines.

In Sweden:
• The healthcare system is not at full capacity
• The schools are open
• The restaurants are open
• They are practicing social distancing
• They have banned groups of over 50

Sweden has the lowest number of ICU beds in all of the Nordic countries. It also appears that the number of deaths per day from the coronavirus in Sweden has gone down.

Herd immunity is basically a situation where there are enough people exposed to a virus to build immunity against that specific pathogen.

There are these things called B cells that are apart of the acquired immune system, and they make antibodies. Antibodies are very specific to a certain microbe. For example, when your body makes antibodies to COVID-19, they will wait until the next time you’re infected with COVID-19, and they will neutralize specific microbes associated with it.

The theory is that with herd immunity, there will not be a massive spread of the virus. People become infected, then immune. They make antibodies, and then things are back to the way they were again.

What Sweden tried to do was avoid the second wave of infection. The rest of the world that’s under lockdown will eventually have the lockdown lifted. Then, people are exposed to the virus again, and there could be a second wave of infection.

Should we keep going with this cycle?

2:30 How to get rid of candida

Today we’re going to talk about an interesting connection between MCT oil and candida. MCT stands for medium-chain triglycerides. This is a type of fat in coconut oil. There are several things in coconut oil that are anti-fungal and antimicrobial. MCT can potentially reduce candida in the body.

Candida normally lives in the body and doesn’t create much harm. But, an overgrowth of candida can start causing problems. Candida is a cousin to mold and is related to fungus.

An overgrowth of candida can cause:

• White tongue
• Burning mouth
• Cotton mouth
• Dry cracked skin in the corners of the mouth
• Bad taste in the mouth
• Fatigue
• Lowered nutrients (B6, Essential Fatty-Acids, Magnesium, Iron, Vitamin A)

Candida overgrowth can occur after a person takes antibiotics, or after doing something that destroys the gut flora.

Candida, mold, fungus, and yeast all live on carbohydrates. Cutting out sugar and lowering carbohydrates, as in the keto diet, could starve off candida.

Candida remedies:

1. MCT oil
2. Fasting
3. Keto
4. Molybdenum

2:33 Zinc deficiencies—Ventilator-induced injury
3:24 What to know about a zinc deficiency

Today we’re going to talk about the effects of zinc on your respiratory system. There is a significant connection between zinc, the immune system, and especially your lungs.

Potential situations that could occur if you’re deficient in zinc:

• Increased duration of lung infections
• Diminished T cell function
• Increased cytokines
• Increased risk of lung infections
• People with conditions like COPD are typically deficient in zinc
• Increased risk for ARDS, upper respiratory infections, and lower respiratory infections
• Increased susceptibility of the lungs to ventilator-induced injury

If you have a lung infection, your body is going to be using so much zinc that chances are you could become deficient. The infection itself can cause a depletion of zinc, and then you lose more of the ability to fight the infection.

Hair Loss: The Missing Link

There is a really interesting relationship between hair loss and trace minerals. If you’re losing your hair, or you want to help improve the quality of your hair, this video is for you.

4:18 Trace minerals and dry hair

Today we’re going to talk about hair loss and trace minerals. If you’re deficient in trace minerals, you could be losing your hair—but why?

What is a trace mineral?
A trace mineral is a mineral that’s needed in very tiny (or trace) amounts. Trace minerals are helper nutrients in enzymes and proteins.

In your cells, you have tiny biological machines, which are proteins and enzymes. Those little proteins do the work of the body. They build certain body tissue, they break things down, and they are involved in all sorts of biochemistry.

Important trace minerals for hair:

1. Iron
If you’re anemic and you’re deficient in iron, one symptom can be hair loss.

2. Silicon
Silicon helps with the structure of your hair.

3. Zinc
If you’re deficient in zinc, you could develop male pattern baldness.

4. Copper
Copper is involved with the color of your hair and building collagen.

5. Selenium
This is one of the most powerful antioxidants.

These trace minerals can help with:
• Making protein
• Hair length
• Hair integrity
• Hair growth

Alopecia could be due to a deficiency in:
• B3
• Biotin
• Vitamin E
• Selenium
• Vitamin A

If you have dry hair, you may need essential fatty acids. It could also be that you can’t digest the fats because of a gallbladder problem, a missing gallbladder, or a lack of bile salts. Or, you may not have enough good bacteria to recycle bile.

1:40 Vitamin D and COVID-19

Today we’re going to talk about the relationship between COVID-19, mortality, vitamin D, and latitude.

There are actually all sorts of diseases related to latitude. For example, if you live in the northern hemisphere, you have a higher risk of getting:

• Colorectal cancer
• MS
• Diabetes type 1
• Breast cancer
• Celiac disease
• Lung cancer

An interesting report states that “low population mortality from COVID-19 in countries south of latitude 35 degrees north supports vitamin D as a factor determining severity.” Nordic countries are an exception likely because they consume a lot of fatty fish and take vitamin D supplements.

Vitamin D regulates and suppresses inflammatory cytokines. Vitamin D doesn’t kill the virus, but it can help suppress cytokines, respiratory macrophages, and ARDS.

You can also see lower vitamin D levels in people who have conditions that can increase the risk of death from COVID-19, such as:

• Hypertension
• Obesity
• Diabetes
• Cardiovascular disease

Vitamin D is incredibly important to support the immune system and for suppressing inflammation in the respiratory system.
