Ever wonder why vitamin A is named retinol? Could it have something to do with the retina? Find out.

Timestamps

0:20 What is the retina?
1:10 Vitamin A functions
1:32 Sources of vitamin A

Today I want to explain why vitamin A is named retinol. Vitamin A has everything to do with supporting the retina. The retina is an extension of the central nervous system that is sticking out of your skull deep in your eye. It has certain receptors that are sensitive to light, allowing you to see.

Vitamin A helps form photosensitive pigment in the retina called visual purple or rhodopsin. This pigment converts light into electrical signals. One of the first symptoms of a vitamin A deficiency is the loss of night vision. Vitamin A (retinol) helps you see in the dark.

Vitamin A is also needed to help:
• Decrease the risk of infection
• Support healthy mucous membranes
• Prevent dry eyes
• Decrease the symptoms and complications of measles

You can’t get your required vitamin A from vegetables. Vegetables provide the precursor to vitamin A, which has to be converted. But, it’s only converted in a very small amount. The best source of the active form of vitamin A (retinol) is cod liver oil. Cod liver oil also has vitamin D and omega-3 fatty acids (DHA and EPA). You may want to avoid taking the synthetic version of vitamin A (retinyl palmitate), which can have complications.

In this video, we’re going to talk about how you can detoxify thousands of chemicals from your body safely with food.

There are many toxins that we encounter in our environment—bisphenol A, PCBs, heavy metals, toxic plastics, and biosolids. Biosolids are treated sewage sludge. This contains over 60,000 toxic substances—this is the stuff that goes into a sewage treatment plant.

There are over 80,000 different toxins, known as xenobiotics, that you’re exposed to on a daily basis.

Your body has a defense mechanism against these toxins. It’s a series of detoxification pathways that turns these toxic substances into harmless particles. The particles are then eliminated through your waste and urine.

The best foods for detoxifying your body are cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, kale, arugula, and bok choy.

You can also take bile salts, probiotics, and garlic. Rosemary, thyme, and clove are other good detoxifiers.

Keep in mind that many toxins cause free radicle damage in the body. Your body naturally creates antioxidants that help prevent free radicle damage—especially when you fast. Prolonged fasting and intermittent fasting are great for helping the body detox.

Fasting puts your body in a state of autophagy, which not only accelerates the repair of damage in the body, but it also helps clear out toxic pathogens.

In this video, we’re going to talk about why your child might be clumsy or not coordinated.

Now, some children are naturally more clumsy—this is not a huge problem in most cases. However, it could also be a matter of an underlying nutritional deficiency.

There’s a condition known as ataxia. Ataxia is when the left side of the body is not coordinated with the right side of the body. This can cause gait abnormalities, difficulty judging distances, and general clumsiness.

The underlying causes of ataxia can range from brain tumors to head injuries. However, there are some other very interesting causes. In particular, vitamin B1 deficiency can lead to ataxia. Vitamin B1 is important for brain function.

Other causes of ataxia include:
• Refined rice
• Alcohol
• Drugs
• Lithium
• Mercury
• Low vitamin B12
• Gluten
• Gastric bypass
• Sugar
• Refined carbs

If your child isn’t as coordinated as they should be, try getting them off of the grains and sugars and see if their coordination improves. You can also add a vitamin B1 supplement to their diet to see if you find any improvements.

The Most Powerful Skin Vitamin: Not Vitamin C or E

In this video, we’re going to talk about the most powerful vitamin for healthy skin.

Today, I’m not talking about vitamin E or vitamin C—although these are important vitamins.

Instead, we’re going to talk about vitamin B3.

If you are deficient in vitamin B3, you can end up with pellagra. However, there’s also a subclinical version of this B3 deficiency. This is a situation where you have dermatitis—dry, brittle, scaly, and red skin.

Vitamin B3 helps protect and restore your DNA, which results in your skin feeling and looking vibrant and healthy.

Studies show that those with pellagra see amazing results when taking vitamin B3. Those with pellagra often consume too much corn, flour, rice, and alcohol. To fix this problem, people started adding synthetic vitamin B3 to enhance these foods. The problem is, synthetic vitamins don’t have the same effects as natural ones.

A healthy keto diet and intermittent fasting eliminate this problem. If you’re new to my channel, you should know that the best form of vitamin B3 is niacinamide.

Vitamin B3 can also help with:
• Brown spots
• Skin cancer
• Anti-aging
• Decreased acne

In this video, we’re going to talk about the hidden sources of gluten.

Most people already know that gluten is found in grain products, including:
• Wheat
• Spelt
• Rye
• Barley
• Kamut
• Bulgar
• couscous

Keep in mind that when you’re consuming wheatgrass juice powder, you aren’t getting any gluten. The gluten only forms when the wheatgrass has grown to a certain height—but it’s harvested before this happens.

The hidden sources of gluten that many people don’t know about are:
• Soy sauce
• Beer
• Meat substitutes
• Coffee creamer
• Broth
• Chewing gum
• Flavored tea
• Fish sticks
• Gravy
• Hot dogs
• Imitation seafood
• Toothpaste
• Candy
• Chips

The more common foods that contain gluten are:
• Bread
• Pasta
• Cereal
• Crackers
• Biscuits
• Pancakes
• Muffins

The question you might be wondering is, “Why is gluten so bad for you?”

Gluten is linked to 55 different diseases. It causes a lot of reactions in many people. Some will tell you that a gluten allergy or gluten sensitivity isn’t all that common—but it is actually very common.

Gluten can lead to leaky gut, molecular mimicry, Hashimoto’s, MS, death of neurons, problems with coordination, and much more.

If you are sensitive or allergic to gluten, you may experience:
• H/A
• Brain fog
• ADHD
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Bipolar disorder
• Schizophrenia
• Vertigo

In this video, we’re going to talk about the benefits of rebounding exercise.

NASA has done a lot of research on rebounding exercise. When you’re in space without gravity, you begin to lose your bone tissue and muscle tissue. Rebounding exercise is designed to counter these problems.

Rebounding exercise is essentially jumping on a trampoline.

There are quite a few benefits of rebound exercises. Rebounding:
• Is convenient
• Helps mobility
• Help posture
• Helps balance
• Helps fear of falling
• Reduces risk of osteoporosis
• Stimulates the thyroid and lymphatic system

In my opinion, the biggest benefit is its ability to stimulate the lymphatic system. Some of the plasma in your blood leaks out of your tissues and goes into the lymphatic system. This means that the lymph in your lymphatic system is made up of plasma along with other substances. The plasma eventually returns to the bloodstream.

Interestingly, your lymphatic system doesn’t have a pump as the vascular system does. This means that you have to move your body for your lymph to circulate your body.

Aside from transporting plasma, the lymphatic system has two other significant roles: to support the immune system and to transport fat throughout the body.

When you consume dietary fat, it goes through the lymphatic system. Since fat and water do not mix, your body has to package the fat—using something called chylomicrons—in a way that it can be transported easily through the lymph fluid.

From there, the fat is carried throughout the body to be used for energy and the creation of hormones, cells, and bile.

Many people have found that rebounding exercise has restored their energy. This is the true benefit of rebound exercise.

Should you use vitamin A for kidney stones? Here’s what you need to know.

Timestamps
0:00 Vitamin A and kidney stones
0:42 Why vitamin A may help
2:28 Decrease the risk of kidney stones

If you have a kidney stone or you’re a stone former, this video is for you. There is some interesting data that actually shows that a vitamin A deficiency can greatly increase your risk of getting a bladder stone and a kidney stone. The study that I referenced also shows that taking vitamin A may decrease your risk for bladder stones and kidney stones. We’re going to primarily focus on the calcium oxalate stone, which is the most common kidney stone.

When you’re deficient in vitamin A, several things can occur, such as:
1. Lower creatinine
2. Lower glycosaminoglycans
3. Lower phosphates
4. High calcium
5. High oxalates
6. High uric acid

There is a huge connection between a deficiency in vitamin A and many factors that can potentially lead to a kidney stone. To help decrease the risk of kidney stones, you may want to take vitamin A.

I’m not talking about the vitamin A in vegetables because that is previtamin A (not the active form). The active form of vitamin A is called retinol. You may also want to take something called chondroitin sulfate, which might give you the edge you need to really help prevent kidney stones.

A few great sources of retinol (the active form of vitamin A):
• Cod liver oil
• Beef kidney (grass-fed)

In this video, we’re going to talk about why you can’t live without viruses.

What would happen if all of the viruses on the planet were to disappear instantly? Interestingly, the planet would not survive after a short period of time.

There are ten nonillion viruses on earth—this is an absolutely massive number.

The vast majority of all viruses are not pathogenic—meaning they are not harmful. In fact, they are vital to our ecosystem. Viruses prevent the world’s population of bacteria from going out of control. Without viruses, you would have massive amounts of bacteria that would create all kinds of problems.

Viruses also ensure that oxygen-producing plankton get enough nutrients. 50% of all of the oxygen in our atmosphere comes from phytoplankton.

Our own DNA contains 100,000 pieces of viral DNA.

Viruses also help us build our acquired immunity. Our immune system needs viruses to help build up an immunity to other pathogens.

Interestingly, viruses need us to be alive in order to continue reproducing. Viruses adapt and evolve to become less deadly over time.

As you can see, there are both good and bad sides to viruses. The best strategy is to keep your immune system strong so that it can adapt to viral infections. Vitamin D3, zinc, and vitamin C are fantastic for supporting your immune function.

How to Reduce Stress:

Let me clear up some of the confusion around high and low cortisol. Check this out.

5:15 What to do from a nutritional standpoint

There is a lot of confusion around cortisol. Many people are unsure whether or not they may have high cortisol or low cortisol. Today I want to help clear up this confusion.

Symptoms of high cortisol (Cushing’s syndrome):
• Large waist
• Thin leg muscles
• Round face
• Insomnia
• Blood sugar issues
• Atrophy in the gluteus maximus (butt muscles)
• Acne
• Allergies
• Low vitamin D
• Excessive thinking
• Osteoporosis

Symptoms of low cortisol (Addison’s syndrome):
• Thin waist
• Tan
• Vitiligo
• Poor immune system
• Salt cravings all day long
• You’re completely burnt out

Cushing’s syndrome is very rare. Addison’s disease is also very rare. However, there can be a subclinical problem with cortisol. This means that it may not show up on a blood test or a saliva test until it’s very advanced. I believe many people have a subclinical cortisol problem that’s hard to detect with certain testing.

With a subclinical cortisol problem, the receptor for cortisol has become downgraded. There is now a cortisol resistance problem. With this situation, you can actually have symptoms of both low cortisol and high cortisol.

To potentially help with cortisol resistance, you need to do whatever you can to inhibit the trigger for cortisol. You need to drop your stress. Isolate where your stress is coming from and do whatever you can to minimize the stress. There are things you can do as far as exercise, diet, nutrients, and even a certain massage technique that I’ve outlined in other videos. There is also something natural called Panax ginseng that may potentially help, along with lowering your stress.

In this video, we’re going to talk about what to do if you have a lump in your throat.

If you’ve ever felt like you had a lump in your throat, but there’s nothing in there, I’m going to give you some tips you can try.

First, let’s talk about the structure of the throat. At the back of your throat, you have your pharynx. Right below it, you have your larynx. Just below that is the trachea. Behind the trachea, you have your esophagus.

Within the structure of your throat, you have a little flap. This controls the food, so it doesn’t go down the wrong pipe and into your lungs.

All of these pieces are made up of nerves, muscles, tendons, and cartilage.

A lot of the time, the sensation of a lump in your throat is actually stress. When you go through stress, you activate and tense up all of the tissues in your throat.

A lump in your throat can also be caused by a virus, low vitamin D, GERD, and problems with the vagus nerve.

A spasm in the soft tissue of the throat can also cause a lump sensation. The top cause of this is hypocalcemia—or low calcium. Taking calcium may help this situation. Increasing your levels of vitamin D may also help.

Gained 3 Pounds From Only 1 Pound of Food? How Could This Happen?

Healthy Ketogenic Diet and Intermittent Fasting:

You can gain 3 pounds of weight from 1 pound of food. Why? Watch this video to find out.

Timestamps
0:00 How did you gain 3 pounds from only 1 pound of food?
0:15 Glycogen and glucose
0:53 How carbs increase weight gain

In this video, we’re going to talk about how someone could gain three pounds from eating a small meal—or less than one pound of food. What is the physiology behind this?

First, let’s talk about glucose molecules and glycogen. Glycogen is made up of a string of glucose molecules. For every gram of glycogen, you have 3-4 grams of glycogen. That means that “fat” is made up of 1 part glucose and 3-4 parts of water.

So if you consume 1 pound of carbs, you can retain 3-4 pounds of water. This means that the weight you’re gaining is primarily fluid.

If you get rid of the carbs and consume more potassium, the fluid will go away.

Before you go for the high-carb and high-sugar foods, remember that they can cause you to gain 3-4x their weight. Instead, stick to healthy keto foods and do intermittent fasting.

1:28 Are nuts healthy?

Did you realize that nuts are not actually a healthy snack? It seems like nuts would be a good snack because they are low-carb, high-fat, and have moderate protein.

1 oz. of nuts =
• 14.2 g of fat
• 6g of protein
• 6.1g of carbs
• 3.6g of fiber
• 2.5g of net carbs

The problem with having nuts as a snack is the word “snack.” I believe consuming snacks is never a good thing. Snacking is bad because it stimulates something called GIP.

A few things to know about GIP:
• It stimulates insulin
• It stimulates fat accumulation
• It stimulates appetite

This is why intermittent fasting is so vitally important not just for your weight but for your overall health. It’s fine to consume nuts. Just be sure to have them with a meal or right after a meal—not as a snack.

3:42 Alkalinity isn’t always good

In this video, we’re going to talk about the pH of saliva—should it be acidic or alkaline?

The normal pH range of saliva is between 6.2 and 7.6. A pH level of 7 is neutral. Anything above 7 is on the alkaline side, and anything below 7 is on the acidic side.

This means that your saliva is slightly acidic or slightly alkaline—it’s near the neutral mark.

If your saliva is too alkaline, you may develop tartar. If your saliva is too acidic, you can develop cavities and infections.

Bacteria in your mouth can use sugar to create acids. On a keto diet, you may be more acidic. However, on a healthy keto diet, you won’t run into problems because you’re consuming 7-10 cups of vegetables a day. This helps provide a lot of alkalinities to balance out the acidity.

Candida can cause ammonia to build up in your mouth. Ammonia is alkaline. Chronic stress can also cause you to become very alkaline.

Being highly alkaline isn’t always a good thing—it depends on the fluid in your body. For instance, stomach acid should be very acidic.

The key to normal pH levels is to be on a healthy diet. Focus on a healthy keto diet, and your pH levels will normalize.

Healthy Ketogenic Diet and Intermittent Fasting:

Check out this protocol for calcified plaque in your arteries.

Timestamps
0:00 Calcification in the arteries
0:47 What you could do for calcification in the arteries

Today I want to share a protocol to potentially help undo calcification in the arteries.

What you could do for calcification in the arteries:
1. Allicin
This is a phytonutrient in garlic. There is some interesting research on the association of allicin and decreased artery calcification in animals.

2. Butyrate
This is a compound that the microbes in the gut make when you feed them fiber (vegetable fiber). It’s a type of fat, a small-chain fatty acid. Butyrate has been associated with a decreased risk of artery disease.

3. Lycopene
This is a phytonutrient in certain vegetables. There is some interesting data showing how lycopene can decrease the thickness of the wall of the arteries and decrease the stiffness.

4. Omega-3 fatty acids
You can find this in cod liver oil or fish oils. Omega-3 fatty acids may help decrease inflammation.

5. GLA (gamma-linolenic acid)
This is a type of omega-6 fatty acid that is actually friendly to your arteries. A few examples would be borage oil, black currant seed oil, and evening primrose oil. GLA may help decrease inflammation, decrease the thickness of the arteries, and decrease plaque formation in the arteries.

6. Vitamin K2 (MK-7 version)
You may want to consider consuming 300mcg of vitamin K2 every day. Vitamin K2 can activate a certain protein that inhibits calcium from forming in the arteries.

7. Tocotrienols
This is one form of the vitamin E complex. Tocotrienols can greatly decrease inflammation in the arteries.

8. Decrease insulin resistance
Do whatever you can to decrease and reverse insulin resistance. There is a direct relationship between having insulin resistance and having calcification in the arteries. A lot of these other remedies may not work unless you also fix insulin resistance. You can help fix insulin resistance by doing the healthy keto diet and intermittent fasting.

The most important combination:
• Address insulin resistance
• Tocotrienols
• Vitamin K2
• Allicin
• Omega-3 fatty acids

Secondary:
• Butyrate
• Lycopene
• GLA

Aluminum hydroxide is one of the adjuvants found in vaccines—in fact, it’s the only approved adjuvant in the United States. This word “adjuvant” means to help—or to make the immune response strong. Macrophages actually eat the aluminum, carry it through the lymphatic system across the blood-brain barrier, where the aluminum gets stuck.

In Vaccines and Autoimmunity, the author talks about how vaccines can cause autoimmunity in susceptible individuals. For instance, the vaccine for Lyme disease is capable of triggering arthritis in animal studies.

Many of these effects can be delayed up to 10 months or even longer.

In susceptible people, vaccines can even trigger possibly fatal autoimmune conditions.

Without being screened, children receive around 19 vaccines during infancy. This could be a huge problem when it comes to autoimmunity.

The toxicity from these types of metals accumulate over time, and the reactions are often delayed between weeks up to years.

How to lower aluminum toxicity:
1. Silica
2. Taurine
3. Vitamin E (tocotrienals)
4. Selenium
5. Acetylcarnitine

0:58 The other problem with cassava

Can you have cassava chips on keto? Cassava is very high in carbohydrates. It’s also very high on the glycemic index. Cassava is a starch—it’s a root vegetable. Cassava is also used to make tapioca. Tapioca is not keto-friendly. Another name for cassava is yuca. Cassava or yuca is not keto-friendly.

Cassava also contains very small amounts of vitamin B1 (thiamine). This is a problem because anytime you have something with a lot of carbs and low vitamin B1, you can create a vitamin B1 deficiency. This happens because it takes vitamin B1 to metabolize carbs.
