3:01 How to bulletproof your immune system

In this video, we’re going to talk about why 97% of overweight people gain the weight back after reaching their dieting goals.

I believe this is because most dieters don’t have a second goal. You can’t expect to stay at a healthy weight and not continue to eat healthy foods and exercise.

Once you reach your desired weight, you can’t just revert to an unhealthy lifestyle.

You have to give your body what it wants and needs, and it will give you what you want in return.

What does your body really want? It wants real, healthy foods that are full of nutrients—not processed junk and empty calories.

In summary, you don’t need a weight loss goal. Instead, you need a get-healthy goal. If you continually work on building up your health, you will hit your weight loss goals naturally.

Keep in mind that carbohydrate cravings are not natural. They only begin after you start eating refined carbs. When you get healthy, you will find that your cravings for carbs go away.

In this video, we’re going to talk about selenium. Selenium is a trace mineral. This means you only need small amounts of it, but it’s very important. Selenium helps you convert T4 to T3 (the active form of the thyroid hormone). A selenium deficiency can lead to symptoms of hypothyroid. Your DNA also needs selenium to be created.

Foods rich in selenium:
• Brazil nuts
• Tuna
• Shrimp
• Sardines
• Sea kelp

If you consume foods high in selenium, but you’re experiencing selenium deficiency symptoms, it could be because of a few things, including:
• You have intestinal absorption problems
• You had gastric bypass surgery
• You’re over the age of 90
• You’re on statins

Symptoms of a selenium deficiency:
1. Glutathione deficiency (can lead to heart problems)
2. Infertility
3. Myocardial necrosis
4. Muscle weakness
5. Mood problems, anxiety, and confusion
6. Fatigue and brain fog
7. Hair loss
8. Low sperm count

I’m reading a very interesting book called “Hooked” by Michael Moss. In this book, he talks about the brain on processed foods, and I want to share a little bit about this.

This book is really about how much more addicting processed foods can be than alcohol, smoking, or even drugs. The speed at which the sugar touches your tongue and connects to the reward circuitry of your brain is about 600 milliseconds. This is 20 times faster than if you were to smoke a cigarette and have nicotine enter the brain.

Apparently, some food companies have even suppressed some of the research on sugar. Not only that, but they’ve influenced various laws to prevent being sued for side effects that occur from consuming processed foods. In the 70s, food companies even started buying up the diet industry.

I believe processed foods and sugar fit into the category of addictions. There are certain criteria that must be met to diagnose addiction or substance use disorder. If you meet 2-3 of the criteria, you have a mild substance use disorder. If you meet 4-5, this is considered a moderate substance use disorder. If you meet 6 or more, you have a severe substance use disorder.

The criteria includes:

1. Hazardous use
Is the substance dangerous to yourself or others? Can you overdose on it?

2. Social or interpersonal problems related to use
Are there relationship problems or conflicts with others related to use?

3. Neglected major roles
Failing to meet responsibility at work, school, or home because of substance use.

4. Withdrawal
When you stop using the substance, you experience withdrawal symptoms.

5. Tolerance
You’ve built up a tolerance to the substance, so you have to do more to get the same effect.

6. Use larger amounts or use the substance for longer periods of time

7. Repeated attempts to control use or quit
You’ve tried to cut back or quit entirely but have not been successful.

8. Much time spent using
You dedicate a lot of time to the substance or eating the processed food.

9. Physical or psychological problems related to use
Your substance abuse has lead to physical health problems, such as liver damage or lung cancer, or psychological problems, such as depression or anxiety.

10. Giving up on activities
You’ve stopped doing some of the activities you once enjoyed in order to use the substance.

11. Cravings
You experience cravings for the substance.

Stress is actually necessary to make you stronger. Without stress, your body weakens. But, of course, you need the correct balance of stress and recovery. The body has an urge to survive. When stressed, the body reacts by adapting and getting stronger.

How stress makes you stronger:
1. The immune system:
You’re born with a part of the immune system called the innate immune system, which is given to you by your mother based on her stress and adaptation. Then, you also have the acquired immune system. This something that you develop over time as you’re exposed to infection. You have to go through different forms of stress to develop the antibodies, to develop a stronger immune system.

2. Exercise:
This is a stress that breaks down muscle tissue and creates damage. But, in the recovery phase, with the help of hormones, you become stronger.

3. Fasting
When you deprive the microbes in your body of nutrients, they live longer and become more diversified. Your body goes through various amazing things when fasting.

4. Phytonutrients
One of the purposes of a phytonutrient is to act as a pesticide or insecticide. When you consume phytonutrients, you’re getting exposed to this, and your body can become stronger and more resistant to it.

5. Cold and hot
Cold and hot temperatures can stimulate certain mechanisms to make you stronger and create a healing effect. Cold temperatures may be more effective than hot.

6. Decreased oxygen:
Depriving your body of a small amount of oxygen can cause your red blood cells to adapt and become stronger. You can do this by wearing a certain mask while exercising.

7. Radiation
A small amount of radiation, from the sun, for example, can cause an adaptation effect where your body becomes stronger and more resistant to it.

In this video, we’re going to talk about the best foods for getting rid of bad breath.

One of the most common causes of bad breath (halitosis) is an overgrowth of microbes like bacteria and yeast. These microbes feed on sugar. So one of the best things you can do is to stop eating sugar—including dairy products. This will help starve these microbes out.

Many people experience bad breath right after having antibiotics. Antibiotics kill off both good and bad bacteria. Because of this, they can create a microbial imbalance that leads to an overgrowth of bacteria in certain parts of the body.

Here are the best foods to help you restore a healthy microbial balance and get rid of bad breath or halitosis quickly.

1. Chlorophyll foods
• Bitter radish
• Arugula
• Kale
• Endive
• Dandelion

2. Probiotic foods (non-dairy)
• Sauerkraut
• Kimchi
• Fermented vegetables

3. Moderate protein

4. Quality ingredients (non-GMO, grass-fed, and wild-caught)

5. Mint tea

Let me know how these tips work for you in the comments down below.

Today we’re going to talk about how to clear your sinuses so you can breathe and smell things easily. It’s allergy season right now, and many people are having problems with clogged sinuses from that. But, if you have chronic sinus problems all year round, it could be an infection.

Ways to clear sinuses:
1. Use a combination of echinacea oil and tea tree oil as a mist. You can put a couple of drops of this in a hot bath, a nebulizer, or a neti pot.

2. Take garlic pills, oregano oil pills, and clove pills orally.

3. Drink apple cider vinegar on a regular basis. Dilute two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water, and drink. You can also add ginger or lemon juice.

Today, let’s talk about the benefits of eucalyptus. The primary phytonutrient in this plant that creates a lot of its incredible effects is called eucalyptol.

Potential benefits of eucalyptus:
• It relaxes the lung tissue
• It thins mucus
• It has powerful antimicrobial properties (it may help inhibit TB, MRSA, viruses, candida, and bacteria)
• It may help suppress cytokines
• It may help suppress a cough

The biggest thing that eucalyptus does is suppress cytokines. Cytokines can basically cause inflammation, swelling, and pain. But, breathing in eucalyptus or taking it as a supplement may help reduce pain, inflammation, and swelling. This means it could also be beneficial for people with arthritis and anything related to the lungs, like asthma.

Overall, eucalyptus has been known to be a broad-spectrum natural remedy that is safe and effective.

0:00 Rid old bad habits – Part 3
0:58 How to create your health
5:55 What not to do
7:17 How to bulletproof your immune system

In this video, we’re going to talk about how to get rid of old bad habits. This is part three of the getting rid of bad habits series. If you haven’t already seen those videos, check out the links above.

We’re now at the point where we’re ready to create new, healthy habits. The keyword here is “create.” You have to constantly create the habit for it to become a new habit.

Whether you know it or not, you’re either creating your health or destroying your health. When you don’t exercise, your health starts to diminish. This is a constant thing you need to keep in mind so you can put in the effort to create health.

Here’s what you can do to start creating your health and forming good habits:

1. Keep it easy — make sure your meals are healthy and simple (4 ingredients or less), and eat a variety of meals and desserts to keep things fresh.

2. Increase the amount of fat you have with your meal — eating more fat will help you avoid snacking between meals.

3. No junk food — get all of the junk food out of your house. If it’s available to you, you’re going to eat it.

4. Fewer restaurant meals — eating at a restaurant can make you feel bloated and tired because you can’t control the hidden ingredients they add to the meal.

5. Transition out of dirty keto — dirty keto isn’t all bad. However, after you have the hang of dirty keto, you should transition into Healthy Keto if possible to further create your health.

6. Increase your awareness — many people go straight for junk food when they are stressed without realizing it. Increasing your awareness will help you avoid these situations.

7. Don’t ask, “what am I in the mood for?” — Don’t eat out of emotion or cravings. This will lead to many bad food choices. Plan your meals out ahead of time, so you don’t leave room for bad meal choices.

8. At restaurants, tell them not to bring bread or the dessert menu — when you go out to eat, eliminate tempting processed carb options like bread, chips, and desserts.

Here’s what you should NOT do:

1. Allow yourself to be temped

2. Have snacks (even if they’re keto!)

3. Have a cheat day

Let’s talk about the best exercise for spondylolisthesis. Spondylolisthesis is a condition where you have a bone in your lower back that’s overlapping another bone. You may have had a fracture that broke off the back part of the vertebra, and it’s slipping forward. Now, when the spinal cord comes down through the column, it has to bend a little bit. This can cause dull pain, pain down the legs, and bowel problems.

There are some great exercises for spondylolisthesis to help stabilize the area and even potentially prevent future problems. Any exercise where you’re arching backward is not a good idea. You want to do the opposite of this. In this situation, anything that will stabilize your core can be therapeutic, but anything that extends your spine going backward can be bad.

The best exercises for spondylolisthesis:

Exercise 1:
Step 1. Start by laying on your back
Step 2. Bring your knees up to your chest

Exercise 2:
Step 1. Start by laying on your back
Step 2. Bring either one leg at a time or both legs at the same time upwards back and forth

Exercise 3:
Step 1. Lay forward over a large exercise ball

Exercise 4:
Step 1. Start by laying on your back
Step 2. Raise your lower back and push your lower back to the ground

Exercise 5:
Do plank exercises, where you basically hold your body at a certain level and keep the position.

Reducing inflammation can also be very therapeutic. Here are a few tips to help reduce inflammation:

• Do the healthy keto diet
• Do intermittent fasting
• Take vitamin D3 (20,000 IUs every day)
• Take stinging nettle root

4:50 The big problem
8:18 Bulletproof your immune system *free course!

This is part two of how to break bad habits related to diet and exercise. In this video, I want to increase your awareness of certain carbs.

Let’s say you consume a popular cupcake product. The ingredient list is filled with things that are far from good for you and may even be very harmful. The nutrition label was no better. Keep in mind, when reading a label, you have to consider the serving size. So, you need to multiply the sugar, carbs, etc. by the number of servings you consume.

When we combine refined fat with refined sugar, it creates a compound that plugs everything up. If you eat fat with refined sugar, the body will metabolize the sugar as a priority over the fat. The fat will be left un-oxidized. Un-oxidized fat can increase the risk of insulin resistance, which can cause many health problems.

Eating these foods without exercising can also cause a lot of excess fuel to be crammed into the mitochondria. Without burning it, you could get a lot of free radicals and oxidants. These refined fats and refined sugars also don’t have antioxidants to counter this situation.

The body makes antioxidants. But, there are a few tissues in the body that don’t have a lot of antioxidants.

This includes the:
• Retinas
• Inside of the arteries
• Brain and nerves
• Kidney cells
• Beta cells in the pancreas

A lot of extra damage can be caused to these tissues when you overload the system with too much fuel, oxidation, and free radicals. There is too much fuel producing too much damage without any ability for the body to protect itself. So, the body develops insulin resistance as a protective mechanism. But, the problem with this is that it can lead to a series of other issues.

Is it possible to gain weight from consuming too many nuts? At first, people think nuts are a healthy choice because they’re keto-friendly. But, not all nuts are low in carbs.

On keto, you want to aim to have between 20-50g of carbs per day. The more you want to lose weight, the lower you want your carbs to be. It can be easy to eat a lot of nuts without realizing it.

• Peanuts 1 cup (146g) – 24g carbs
• Peanut butter 1 cup (258g) – 50g carbs
• Pistachios 1 cup (166g) – 35g carbs

6:11 Bulletproof your immune system *free course!

In this video, I want to cover how to break bad habits related to diet or exercise. Bad habits typically start out very pleasurable, but then they become very uncomfortable and can even cause pain.

Questions to ask yourself:
• What’s your worst routine or habit?
• What’s your willingness to change on a scale of 0-10?
• What do you feel is right about eating carbs? Do they make you happy, feel good, relaxed, or is it more fulfilling?

When you consume carbs out of habit, you’re bouncing between dopamine (pleasure sensation) and serotonin (happy sensation). When you consume carbs, you’re satisfying the withdrawal symptoms of these receptors.

But, these carbohydrate cravings are very unnatural. They’re developed over time with certain chemical changes that happen in the body. You can even become addicted to these carbs.

What you can do if you’re addicted to carbs:
1. Decide to make a change
2. Change your routine
3. Get rid of distractions
4. Push through discomfort
5. Increase more dietary fat
6. Take B vitamins (especially vitamin B1)

In this video, we’re going to talk about having one and a half meals per day (OAAHM) on keto.

I have a number of people on this eating plan, and it seems to be a great transition into one meal a day (OMAD).

Having your first meal around 1:00 pm and your last (light) meal around 5:00-6:00 pm will give you 19-20 hours of fasting per day.

During your first meal, you would consume your heavier proteins and fats. Your second meal would consist of a light salad and some healthy fats.

Since your second meal is lighter, it has less of an effect on insulin.

You’re also breaking up the meals so you can consume more calories and get all of the nutrients you need.

This is an easy way to get the benefits of a 20-hour fast. Give it a try, and let me know how it works for you in the comments below.

Today I want to cover what electrolytes do, with a special focus on five specific electrolytes.

1. Sodium:
• Hydrates
• Is involved in oxygen transport
• Works with potassium to generate electrical potential (the sodium-potassium pump)
• Decreased sodium can lead to weakness, tiredness, and low endurance

2. Potassium:
• Supports the nerve and muscle interaction
• Works with sodium to generate electrical potential (the sodium-potassium pump)
• Decreased potassium can lead to weakness and tiredness

3. Magnesium:
• Controls the absorption of sodium and potassium
• Is associated with oxygen
• Supports the relaxation of the muscle
• May help prevent muscle cramps
• May be necessary for workouts (especially long or intense workouts)
• Decreased magnesium may lead to muscle cramps and low endurance

4. Calcium:
• Supports muscle contraction
• Supports neuromuscular excitability
• Decreased calcium can lead to tetany, muscle cramps, and skeletal muscle weakness

5. Chloride:
• Supports hydration

In this video, we’re going to talk about some benefits of fasting for your motivation to exercise.

First, I want to talk about hunger waves. Hunger waves are surges of hunger throughout the day. When you ignore a hunger wave, it will go away.

Hunger waves are caused by an increase in the hormone ghrelin. Ghrelin tells your brain that it’s time to eat. However, you don’t need to eat every time you feel hungry.

If it’s around lunchtime and you feel hungry, you can often ignore your hunger for a couple of hours, and you’ll stop being hungry. Knowing about these waves of hunger can help you better prepare for your intermittent fasting plan.

Over time, hunger waves will start to reduce, and it will become easier and easier to do intermittent fasting.

It’s important to differentiate between the sensation of hunger (cravings) and real hunger. If you start feeling irritable, light-headed, weak, or dizzy, then you need to eat because your body is hungry. An increase in ghrelin is not real hunger.

Keep in mind that fasting will help decrease your hunger. You’ll also find that you consume less food when you break your fast.

When you eat, you spike insulin, which makes you hungry again shortly after.

A study on mice showed an increase in motivation to exercise when they were hungry. I’ve seen this same effect in humans too.

So if you experience a spike in ghrelin while fasting, ignore the hunger signals but don’t ignore the motivation to exercise.
