In this video, we’re going to talk about how to read urine test strips. If you’re interested in using urine test strips, this video is going to simplify them for you.

Urine test strips are not made to diagnose anything. They are simply there to give you clues to potential irregularities in your body.

Most urine test strips test 10 things:
1. Protein – Too much protein could be a sign of kidney disease, dehydration, intense exercise, or a kidney stone.

2. Leukocytes – High levels could suggest an infection, UTI, or kidney stone.

3. Ketones – A potential sign you’re on a low carb diet, or you have diabetes

4. Glucose – Levels higher than 180 could indicate diabetes.

5. Nitrites – This could be a sign of nitrate-reducing bacteria, such as E. coli or gonorrhea.

6. Blood – Could indicate UTI, intense exercise, or kidney stones.

7. Urobilinogen – Could be a sign of liver damage, cirrhosis, or hepatitis.

8. pH – Levels between 6 and 7.5 could indicate uric acid stones or too much protein.

9. Specific gravity – Highly-concentrated urine could indicate dehydration.

10. Bilirubin – Could be an early sign of liver damage or a blocked bile duct.

Today I’m going to share with you the #1 mistake that’s made when treating heartburn. I’m also going to share a few heartburn remedies that you can try instead.

The #1 mistake that’s made when treating heartburn is alkalizing the stomach with things like PPIs (proton pump inhibitors). The #1 PPI used is called Nexium, and the #2 PPI used is called Prilosec. PPIs are one of the most widely sold medications in the world.

PPIs are used to help treat conditions, such as:
• Indigestion
• Ulcers
• GERD
• Gastritis

Many doctors also suggest eating more fiber (in the form of whole grains), avoid fat, and eat bland foods (like crackers). But, grains alkalize the stomach.

I believe it’s very important to have a very acidic stomach. You need acid in your stomach to kill pathogens, break down proteins, and help you absorb minerals.

Potential side effects of PPIs:
• Abdominal pain
• Osteoporosis
• Sarcopenia
• Constipation
• Myopathy
• C-diff.
• Anxiety
• SIBO
• Fungal overgrowth
• Pneumonia
• Kidney disease

I believe the real potential cause of heartburn is things that weaken the stomach acids, and that heartburn typically comes from a lack of stomach acid. Refined grains, sugars, and processed foods can all weaken stomach acid. The weaker a person’s digestive system is, the more they need to support and enhance the digestive system.

Natural remedies for heartburn (support and enhance the digestive system):
1. Add acids (betaine hydrochloride and apple cider vinegar)
2. Add purified bile salts
3. Add probiotics
4. Steam or cook the vegetables you eat and consume fermented vegetables (eat fewer vegetables until you re-establish your acidic pH)
5. Consume fattier meat over leaner meat
6. Chew your food longer
7. Germinate the nuts you eat

In this video, we’re going to talk about some interesting studies on dogs’ ability to smell COVID-19 infections.

With just a few sniffs, dogs were able to identify infected people (with or without symptoms) with close to perfect accuracy.

Another German study found that dogs were able to detect COVID-19 infections with 94% accuracy.

The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine found that dogs could detect covid infections with 95% accuracy.

Studies in the United Arab Emirates discovered that dogs could detect covid cases days before conventional tests were able to pick up on the virus.

Why can dogs pick up on COVID-19 infections so easily?

Well, dogs’ noses have 300 minion scent receptors. This is 60x more than the average human, which has only 5 million scent receptors. Some dogs can even detect certain types of cancer.

Pathogens can emit specific odors that we can’t detect with our noses, but dogs seem to detect them with ease.

Today I want to cover the amazing benefits of watercress. Watercress is a fascinating plant that has nutrients, phytonutrients, and other benefits. You may want to consider adding watercress to your daily salad.

Benefits of watercress:
1. It has phytonutrients like isothiocyanate and sulforaphane, which are anticancer. These phytonutrients combined with the vitamin C in the plant can support your collagen and elastin.

2. It has zeaxanthin and lutein, which may help filter blue light and decrease the risk of age-related macular degeneration.

3. It’s extremely nutrient-dense. It has high amounts of vitamin K1, calcium, manganese, vitamin C, vitamin E, and beta carotene.

4. It has naturally occurring nitrates, which are good for the inside of the arteries. These nitrates may help make the arteries less stiff and help keep a person’s blood pressure from going too high. They may also help with exercise performance.

Benzodiazepine: A Natural Alternative

Let’s talk about benzodiazepines. What are benzodiazepines, what are benzodiazepines used for, and is there a natural alternative? Yes, there is!

Benzodiazepines are used for conditions, such as:
• Anxiety
• Panic attacks
• Insomnia
• Epilepsy

Benzodiazepines manipulate neurotransmitters, including serotonin, GABA, and noradrenaline. Serotonin is known to help bring up your mood, improve anxiety, and even decrease cravings.

Noradrenaline is known to help focus your attention, improve vigilance, decrease depression, increase blood pressure, and mobilize the brain and body. It’s lowest when you’re asleep and highest when you’re in fight or flight mode.

Magnolia bark is a natural remedy that has been found to potentially work just as well as benzodiazepines for some people. Magnolia bark has special properties that actually mimic benzodiazepines.

Potential benefits of magnolia bark:
• It’s anti-anxiety (decreases cortisol)
• It may help improve sleep (increases GABA)
• It may help inhibit epileptic seizures
• It supports menopause
• It may help relieve depression (increases serotonin and noradrenaline)
• It may help decrease a fatty liver
• It has properties of cancer inhibition

If you’re on a benzodiazepine, definitely check with your doctor before coming off of it. But, ask your doctor about magnolia bark to see if this more natural solution that doesn’t have a lot of side effects could work for you.

In this video, we’re going to talk about why exercise keeps your brain from shrinking as you age.

A randomized controlled trial on 120 older adults found that there’s an increase in the volume of the front part of the hippocampus when doing aerobic exercise.

This is the part of the brain that controls spatial memory—your ability to remember locations and understand where you are in relation to other locations. The hippocampus is one of the only parts of the brain that can regenerate.

Exercise also increases blood flow to the hippocampus.

Exercise also caused an increase in BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor) in the hippocampus. This helps regrow the brain.

What causes the brain to shrink?
• Aging
• Stress
• High blood sugar

What helps you avoid brain shrinkage?
• Exercise
• Intermittent fasting
• Vitamin B1

In summary, exercise, intermittent fasting, and maintaining healthy nutrient levels are some of the best things you can do to help avoid brain shrinkage as you age.

In this video, we’re going to talk about air pollution.

Now, I have some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that air pollution has now been found to increase the risk of diabetes.

This is due to something called particulate matter. These are microscopic particles in the air. They can be solids or liquids.

Particulate matter can get into the lungs and bloodstream.

The size of this harmful particulate matter is less than 2.5 micrometers. This appears as a haze in the air.

Within particulate matter, there are thousands of chemicals from industry, power plants, automobiles, and various other sources.

This air pollution has long been known to cause lung cancer.

A new study found that exposure to particulate matter (PM 2.5) can alter blood sugar levels and significantly increase the risk of type-2 diabetes over 16 weeks.

The reason why air pollution has these effects is unknown. However, there are some theories. It could be due to systemic inflammation, autonomic nervous system dysfunction, oxidative stress, or the gut microbiome.

What we do know is that pollution leads to insulin resistance, which affects blood sugar levels.

The good news is that research shows that fasting can block the adverse blood sugar effects of air pollution. Fasting can also inhibit glucose intolerance.

Of course, dietary sugar can raise your blood sugar, but something else can do it too. In fact, it’s pretty significant. It’s called gluconeogenesis.

Gluconeogenesis means that your body is generating new glucose from non-carbohydrate sources. Your body can make new sugar from fat or protein. High blood sugar is not just about dietary sugar. Your body makes sugar from other things.

The amount of sugar in your blood is significantly coming from gluconeogenesis. Diabetics have enhanced gluconeogenesis. So, your liver and your kidneys are making a lot of sugar, which raises your blood sugar.

It’s important to keep in mind that the body doesn’t need much sugar. There are very few parts of the body that are dependent on sugar. Everything else can live on other sources of fuel, like fatty acid and ketones.

The body has the ability to make the sugar that it needs. We don’t need to get sugar or carbohydrates from the diet. However, we do need dietary fiber, which is considered a carbohydrate.

If you’re a diabetic, your body is making too much sugar because insulin isn’t working correctly in your body. Even though there might be high levels of insulin in the blood, the insulin is dysfunctional because of insulin resistance. Insulin isn’t doing its job, which is to keep gluconeogenesis in check.

The real problem is insulin resistance. This is what’s causing the high levels of sugar in your blood. I believe the best thing to do would be to focus on fixing your insulin resistance. This could potentially help your body make less sugar and improve your blood sugar levels. In my opinion, the best way to improve insulin resistance is to do the Healthy Keto diet and intermittent fasting.

What if you’ve already started the ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting, and you’re seeing improvements, but you still have high blood sugar? Your body is likely still in the process of dealing with your insulin resistance. It takes time to reverse insulin resistance. The key is to not give up, stay consistent, and know what’s really going on.

A study I read recently talked about how vitamin D levels could be linked to depressed teens. A few symptoms linked to a vitamin D deficiency are sadness, hopelessness, loss of interest, loss of concentration, and even thoughts of suicide.

Potential causes of a vitamin D deficiency in teens:
• Not getting enough sun
• Not consuming enough vegetables (not enough magnesium)
• Snacking (insulin resistance blocks vitamin D)
• A high carb diet (fructose blocks vitamin D)
• Obesity (increases the need for vitamin D)
• Darker skin blocks vitamin D absorption

Other symptoms of a vitamin D deficiency:
• Achy joints
• Low back pain
• Lethargy
• Insomnia
• Anxiety

Natural remedies:
• Vitamin D (10,000 IUs)
• Magnesium
• Vitamin K2

A few more things for teens to do:
• Get out in the sun
• Consume more vegetables
• Stop snacking (do intermittent fasting)
• Get on a low-carb diet (healthy keto)

Carbs and sugars: what’s the difference? Find out!

In this video, we’re going to talk about the difference between carbs and sugars.

On a Healthy Keto diet, you want to keep your carbs under 50g per day—preferably around 20g per day.

Carbohydrates are a combination of starches, fibers, and sugars.

Sugars are smaller carbohydrate molecules. For instance, sucrose is a disaccharide, which means that it is made up of two (di, meaning two) simple carbohydrate molecules.

Fructose and glucose are monosaccharides, which are made up of one (mono, meaning one) molecule.

Starches are complex carbohydrates.

Complex carbohydrates are broken down into two categories: oligosaccharides and polysaccharides. Oligosaccharides have between 3 and 20 molecules, and polysaccharides have more than 20 molecules.

Then, we have fiber. We deduct fiber from the total carbs because, even though fiber is a carbohydrate, it can’t be broken down by our digestive systems.

Microbes can break down fiber, so fiber is great for supplying your gut microbes with nutrients.

Fiber does not affect your blood sugars like other carbohydrates.

Let’s talk about the glycemic index (GI). The GI tells you how fast a particular carbohydrate turns into blood glucose and affects your blood sugar level.

For example, a raw potato would be relatively low on the GI because the starch isn’t going to break down very quickly. However, cooked potatoes or a bag of potato chips would be much higher on the glycemic index because they are broken down much more quickly, thus causing a spike in blood sugar.

The goal is to consume foods that are low in sugars and carbs but higher in fiber to help keep your blood sugar levels normal.

Some vegetables are very starchy, which means it is high in carbohydrates. Potatoes, carrots, and beats all have higher amounts of carbs compared to leafy greens, asparagus, celery, and broccoli. You don’t have to count your carbs when it comes to non-starchy vegetables.

In this video, we’re going to talk about an excellent natural remedy for inflamed eyelids.

Inflamed eyelids are known medically as blepharitis. This condition can cause your eyelids to become red, irritated, itchy, and crusty. Blepharitis typically appears at the ends of your eyelids, where your eyelashes grow.

The root of this problem is often an overgrowth of bacteria, fungus, or viruses.

The best natural remedy to help get rid of pathogens is colloidal silver. Colloidal silver has potent natural anti-pathogenic properties. It can help penetrate the eyelid, unlike other conventional solutions.

Not only is this an incredibly useful remedy, but there are not any known side effects. Using conventional antibiotics may have unnecessary side effects.

Give colloidal silver a try, and let me know how it works for you!

In this video, we’re going to talk about why fasting lowers your blood pressure.

High blood pressure, or hypertension, is usually an asymptomatic condition. The only way to know for sure that you have high blood pressure is to test your blood pressure level with a blood pressure cuff.

There are two types of hypertension: primary and secondary. 95% of all hypertension cases are primary hypertension.

Primary hypertension is related to lifestyle choices. These are some of the things that may contribute to high blood pressure levels:
• High salt
• Obesity
• Smoking
• Alcohol

The problem is, many doctors recommend a diet that includes carbohydrates, such as fruits, whole grains, and simple sugars. In fact, their recommended diet allows 12 teaspoons (50g) of sugar per day. That’s a lot of sugar!

Keep in mind that I am not recommending that you go off your medication without your doctor’s approval. Instead, I want to show you the problems with what many consider a “healthy” diet for hypertension cases.

A study called the sprint trial was done in 2015. This study found that those who are 50 years or old who take medications live longer when taking multiple medications for hypertension.

This sounds pretty good—but, they also found a significant increase in kidney disease risk.

There are many problems with this study. They only used those with severe hypertension and

Another study on 174 people who were fasting found a 90% success rate of lowering blood pressure levels naturally.

Why?

When you fast, your insulin levels reduce. High blood pressure is really a result of high blood sugar. This is often caused by insulin resistance. When you lower your insulin levels, you can repair insulin resistance and help normalize your blood sugar and blood pressure levels.

The best natural remedies for high blood pressure are:
• Intermittent fasting
• Vitamin D3
• Potassium
• Vitamin K2
• Magnesium
• Healthy Keto

Today, we’re going to talk about how your liver could potentially cause stiffness in your body. If the liver isn’t working right, it may cause joint stiffness to the point where you feel like you have arthritis.

Cholestasis is a condition where your bile is backed up and not flowing freely through the bile ducts. There is a combination of too much cholesterol and not enough bile, causing the bile to back up, which then causes inflammation.

If there is a problem with the bile ducts, you can experience a lot of pain and stiffness, especially on the right side of the body.

If you don’t have enough bile, you also won’t be able to absorb and utilize vitamin D, which is a powerful anti-inflammatory. Other fat-soluble vitamins will also not be available to you, which can lead to pain, stiffness, and other issues.

The best potential remedies for stiffness:
• Purified bile salts (take 1-2 on an empty stomach in the morning and the afternoon)
• Get on the Healthy Keto diet
• Do intermittent fasting
• Eliminate omega-6 fatty acids from your diet

If you have osteoarthritis from an old injury that’s causing your stiffness, you may want to apply a technique called the Egoscue Method.
