For many years, John experienced debilitating pain in his back and neck. A few work injuries only added to his list of symptoms and challenges, until he eventually felt hopeless about his condition. John and his wife started watching Dr. Joe YouTube videos, and they began practicing his meditations. Despite John’s worries about sitting for prolonged periods of time for lectures and meditations, he and his wife signed up for a Week Long Retreat. He experienced a very noticeable decrease in pain levels — along with an increase in hope and inspiration.

0:00 About Mastering the Zone by Barry Sears PhD
3:24 How this book shaped my healthy keto and intermittent fasting plan
4:08 Points I don’t agree with & why you should do Healthy Keto
I’m back with a slightly different video than I usually do. I’m going to talk to you about the book that turned my health around. The name of this book is “Mastering the Zone” by Barry Sears, Ph.D.
This is a quote from his book:
“Obviously, fat was not the enemy. If fat isn’t the enemy, then what is? The answer is insulin. It’s excess insulin that makes you fat and keeps you fat. And your body creates excess amounts of insulin when you eat either too many fat-free carbohydrates or too many calories at a meal. Therefore, when you talk about the zone, it is really the zone of insulin. Not too high, not too low—a zone of insulin controlled by your diet.”
In the second chapter, he goes on to talk about protein:
“More important, protein is so vital because it stimulates the hormone glucagon.”
Glucagon opposes insulin. It was the exact opposite effect, which means you can reduce the effects of insulin by increasing glucagon.
Protein and exercise both work to increase glucagon. Carbs, of course, stimulate insulin.
“Glucagon has the opposite physiological action of insulin. In fact, glucagon acts as a major governor of excess insulin production.”
He goes on to write, “It is excess insulin that makes you fat, makes you hungry, makes you mentally foggy, decreases physical performance, and increases the likelihood of chronic disease.”
This information blew me away. It is at the heart of my Healthy Keto and intermittent fasting diet.
However, I improved on this method by increasing his recommended fat intake from 40% to 70%. I also recommend 20% protein, 5% vegetables, and 5% carbs.

Danielle tried a lot of alternative treatments, but she attributes her ultimate complete healing to the committed work of meditating…and learning how to love herself unconditionally.

2:36 What to do
2:52 Why vitamin D won’t work
In this video, we’re going to talk about the side effects of vitamin D and how they can actually occur because of a magnesium deficiency.
Side effects of vitamin D:
• Headaches
• Insomnia
• Restlessness
• Muscle cramps
• Palpitations
• Anxiety
• Constipation
Magnesium is needed for vitamin D to be absorbed. Magnesium helps lower the side effects of taking vitamin D, even though the side effects are not from vitamin D—they’re from a magnesium deficiency. Most people have a subclinical magnesium deficiency.
Magnesium:
• Is a cofactor for 300 enzymes
• Is involved in protein synthesis
• Helps regulate blood sugars
• Is involved in energy production
• Is involved in making glutathione
The only side effect of vitamin D (large amounts without vitamin K2) could be hypercalcemia symptoms. But this is very rare.
Magnesium-rich foods:
• Leafy greens (at least 7 cups per day)
• Pumpkin seeds
• Nuts
What you can do in this situation is take some magnesium with your vitamin D, and that may help these symptoms clear up.
There are some cases where vitamin D won’t work, and that can be because of:
• A problem with the gallbladder
• Liver damage
• Kidney damage
• Not taking vitamin K2
• Gastric bypass
• GI issues

0:00 The #1 Barrier to Healing and Recovery is… Stress!
0:26 Why does stress trigger the fight-or-flight mechanism?
1:00 Symptoms of chronic stress and fight-or-flight mode
4:12 How to lower stress levels and prevent fight-or-flight
In this video, I want to talk about the biggest barrier to recovery and health, which is stress.
In particular, we’re going to talk about the activation of the “fight or flight” mechanism. The sympathetic nervous system’s primary function is to stimulate your body’s fight-or-flight response.
When your body is in a fight or flight state, your adrenal glands are activated, which sharply increases your levels of cortisol and adrenaline.
Our bodies aren’t made to endure long periods of time in fight or flight mode—you can endure 90 seconds or less without a problem. However, today’s environments at work and in daily activities promote the fight or flight system to work endlessly, which just isn’t healthy.
The problem is, when you get stressed, you cannot heal or recover. When fight-or-flight mode is always activated, you…
• Are unable to get good sleep
• Cannot heal
• Release glucose
• Can’t recover
• Can experience poor digestion
• Have poor wound healing
• Retain sodium
• Excrete potassium
• May cause damage to your hippocampus
• Have added risk of disease and infection
• Experience chronic inflammation
• Experience an increased risk of heart disease
• Experience bone loss
• Experience a loss of collagen formation
You can help reduce your stress levels with these simple things:
• Exercise:
• Diet
• Fasting
• Acupressure
• Vitamin B1, potassium, and magnesium
• Breathing exercises
• Vacation/taking time off
• Not taking things so seriously
