Magnesium Protects Against the Bad Effects of Calcium

Magnesium and calcium have a really interesting relationship. Check this out.

Magnesium and Sleep Cycles:

Magnesium Rich Foods:

Timestamps
0:05 Magnesium function

1:29 The RDAs of magnesium
1:35 Foods rich in magnesium
2:01 Magnesium and calcium relationship

In this video, we’re going to talk about magnesium and calcium. I’m going to explain the interesting effect magnesium has on calcium.

Magnesium is involved in over 350 biochemical reactions. It’s a coenzyme involved in enzyme reactions. It’s also a key electrolyte.

Magnesium is also involved in:

• Muscle relaxation
• Nerve transmission
• Fluid balance
• pH
• ATP production
• Mood
• Anti-stress
• Sleep
• Bone physiology
• Heart physiology
• Supporting insulin

Magnesium is very important. But, up to 60% of the population has a subclinical magnesium deficiency. Subclinical means that it won’t show up on a blood test, but you’re still deficient. The deficiency is inside of the cell. 98% of your magnesium is inside of the cell, not outside of the cell. So, if you get a blood test and find that your magnesium levels are normal in your blood, it may not really mean anything.

• The RDAs of magnesium for men are 420 milligrams.

• The RDAs of magnesium for women are 320 milligrams.

Good sources of magnesium:

• Pumpkin seeds
• Spinach
• Swiss chard
• Sunflower seeds
• Leafy greens
• Salmon

One of the important things magnesium does is keeping calcium outside of the cell. If there is enough magnesium in the cell, it can prevent calcium from going inside of the cell and creating damage.

When there’s low magnesium, and calcium gets out of control, you can start getting:

• Calcification
• Hyperexcitability of the nervous system
• Insulin problems
• Stiffness
• Sticky blood
• The liver can start to produce too much glucose
• Kidney stones

3:49 Other benefits of microbes

Did you know that your body can’t make vitamins? But your friendly bacteria are vitamin-making machines.

Your good bacteria in the gut can make:

• Vitamin K – stops bleeding
• Vitamin B12 – supports the nervous system and blood
• Vitamin B1 – may benefit the nervous system, brain, and heart
• Vitamin B2 – helps break down carbs, protein, and fat to turn into energy
• Vitamin B3 – may help you regulate cholesterol, support brain function, and support joint health
• Vitamin B5 – a coenzyme in a lot of biochemical reactions including making protein
• Vitamin B6 – may help with PMS symptoms, edema, and carpal tunnel syndrome
• Biotin – is important for your hair, skin, and nails
• Folate – may help protect DNA and is involved in making DNA

If there is something not right with your gut flora, you could be deficient in all of these important vitamins. You can get these good microbes by consuming fermented foods—especially sauerkraut. Your microbes help you in many different ways. So, it’s not just about eating healthy. It’s about preserving the good bacteria that help you make vitamins so you can be healthy.

Your good bacteria also make:

• Enzymes
• Amino acids
• Lactase

The 10 Key Symptoms of Prediabetes

Understanding these prediabetes symptoms and why they occur could change everything.

Timestamps
0:04 Pre-symptoms of diabetes
1:38 What happens before prediabetes
2:27 Insulin resistance
3:38 What to do

In this video, we’re going to talk about the pre-symptoms of diabetes.

Prediabetes symptoms:

1. Darkened skin (in the body folds)
2. Poor memory
3. Tired after eating
4. Belly fat
5. Hunger and cravings
6. Slow healing
7. Urination at night/increased thirst
8. Dry mouth
9. Itchy
10. Blurred vision

The thing is, you could have all of these symptoms, and your blood sugar levels may still not be high. This is because, way before you get diabetes or even prediabetes, you have high insulin. You probably have high insulin from consuming a high-carb diet and eating too frequently.

Too much insulin is toxic, so you will develop insulin resistance. This can go on for years until you eventually develop prediabetes and then diabetes.

This can be an easy problem to solve if you understand that all of these symptoms are really side effects of too much insulin and too much blood sugar. In my opinion, the obvious thing to do to help with this situation would be to cut down on the carbohydrates in the diet.

Dangers and Benefits of Erythritol

Do the benefits of erythritol outweigh the dangers? Find out.

Today we’re going to talk about the dangers and benefits of erythritol.

What is erythritol?
Erythritol is a sugar alcohol. It’s an alternative sweetener, and it’s 60-70% as sweet as sugar. It has less than 25% of 1 calorie per gram. Sugar has 4 calories per gram. Erythritol has .24 calories per gram. It has 95% less calories than sugar.

Erythritol gets absorbed in the small intestine, it gets in the blood, but it gets excreted by the kidney unchanged. The microbes don’t like to eat it. There aren’t many negative side effects of erythritol. It has zero impact on insulin—it doesn’t affect the blood sugars.

*As long as it’s non-GMO, I think erythritol is a great alternative sweetener.

The dangers of erythritol in high doses (greater than 50 grams):

1. Gas
2. Bloating
3. Stomach noise
4. A laxative effect

3:22 My question for you

Today I want to give you a very important tip to help figure out health problems. This is so simple, but it’s so important. This is one of the most important questions to ask yourself or someone else when trying to figure out health issues.

The most important question to ask when figuring out health problems is: “What happened just before you experienced the health condition?”

There is always a trigger. It could be food-related, stress-related, or environmental. If you have a health problem, think about what happened just before you started to experience that health complaint.

This Is What Sugar Does to Your Arteries

Learn more about what sugar does to your arteries before it’s too late.

4:16 Gluconeogenesis
4:32 Antioxidants
5:16 A good natural remedy

Today we’re going to talk about what sugar and your arteries. For a diabetic, probably the biggest damage from high amounts of sugar in the blood is done to the vascular system.

The macrovascular system:
These are the large vessels like the coronary artery, which supplies the heart muscle. This also includes peripheral arteries throughout the body.

The microvascular system:
These are small capillaries that go to the retina in the eye, the kidneys, and the nerves in your feet and hands.

Sugar basically rusts out your vascular system. It creates all sorts of oxidation. The layer of the inside of the blood vessel is called the endothelium. The endothelium controls the tone of the blood vessels, and it prevents things from invading the blood vessels. The endothelium is also highly sensitive to too much sugar.

Glucose can create inflammation in the arteries, which is the beginning stage of a sequence of events that can end in a blockage in your artery.

Oxidation can create a lot of serious effects within the body that you may not know is going on until you have a problem. It can thicken the inside of the blood vessels creating stiffness.

High sugar can also cause insulin resistance, which can create decreased blood flow. A lot of the neurological damage that occurs from diabetes comes from the damaged blood vessels that starve off the nerves.

Sugar can also have effects on the arteries, including:

• Creating advanced glycated end-products, which are very toxic to the arteries and the rest of the body.

• You can start to develop excessive amounts of sorbitol, which can lead to cataracts, blindness, and peripheral neuropathy.

Your body actually has the ability to make sugar if needed. This is called gluconeogenesis. But, none of these effects happens during gluconeogenesis. This is because your body also makes antioxidants that protect against the complications of high-sugar. This is another reason why you should eat foods high in antioxidants. Another potential natural remedy for some of these conditions is called benfotiamine.
