In this video, we’re going to talk about where cancer comes from.

Interestingly, cancer cells come from normal cells. Why?

When the mitochondria of a normal cell become damaged, the cell can become cancerous.

There are certain ancient genes built into our cells that our bodies (and other organisms) have been using for a very long time. Under certain circumstances, a cell can have an adaptation that it uses as a plan-B to help it survive.

The difference between a normal cell and a cancer cell is a cancer cell’s metabolism. Cancer cells run on a historic-type metabolism that uses fermentation.

When this change in metabolism happens, then a cancer cell becomes immortal—it no longer has a point where it stops dividing. It continues to divide rapidly and hogs all the fuel. It can also migrate, which is called malignancy. Cancer cells typically migrate to areas of inflammation.

Cancer cells require angiogenesis. This is a condition where the tumor is fed new blood vessels so it can get nutrients and oxygen. Certain types of chemotherapy address angiogenesis using anti-angiogenesis.

The question is, are there natural things that are anti-angiogenic?

Yes, there are! Take a look:
• Wormwood
• Curcumin
• Resveratrol
• Green tea
• Cruciferous vegetables

These things can cause cancer cells to commit suicide while having no adverse effects on normal cells. This is known as selective apoptosis.

Cancer cells need growth factors to grow. Insulin is one of the most abundant growth factors in the body. Insulin is known to trigger cancer growth.

A low-carb diet is the best way to keep insulin down.

IGF-1 is another abundant growth factor. The best way to lower this growth factor is to do fasting. At 24, 48, and 72 hours of fasting, your IGF-1 levels reduce by 43%, 76%, and 82%, respectively.

Fasting also stimulates mitophagy and increases your antioxidant networks.

The top things that cause damage to the mitochondria are:
• Chronic chemical exposure
• Chronic stress
• Inflammation
• UV exposure
• Chronic exposure to glucose
• Poor immune system function

Autophagy: Exercise vs. Fasting

What triggers autophagy more: exercise or fasting? Find out.

Timestamps
0:00 What is autophagy?
0:48 What triggers autophagy?
3:18 Share your success story!

Let’s talk about exercise vs. fasting when it comes to triggering autophagy. Autophagy is a condition. It’s the recycling of old worn-out cell parts. It’s a condition that’s very good for the body.

Autophagy is all about anti-aging. When we age, we have a deficiency of autophagy. Autophagy is also very deficient in chronic disease states. So, it’s very important to know how to trigger autophagy.

The suppression of glucose with the increase of ketones is what triggers autophagy. This is why fasting is probably the most potent thing to trigger autophagy.

But, exercise can also trigger autophagy. Exercise forces the body to use up glucose, and it helps increase insulin sensitivity. When you exercise, you lower insulin. When insulin becomes too high, it can knock you out of autophagy. It can be very beneficial to exercise while fasting because you have a compounding effect.

The autophagy that’s created when you exercise will only last until the next time you eat. Compared to if you fast for 48 hours, you’re getting a massive amount of autophagy.

When it comes to exercise, the amount of autophagy you’re going to get is going to be related to the intensity and the volume of exercise you do. A strong, resistant type workout with high intensity and a good amount of volume can give you more autophagy. But, a low-intense endurance type workout while fasting can enhance the autophagy you’re getting from fasting.

Let’s talk about why you might experience digestive problems when you break a long fast and how to help prevent these digestive problems.

Digestive issues you could experience after breaking a prolonged fast:
• Diarrhea
• Loose stool
• Gas
• Abdominal pain
• Bloating
• Nausea

This could happen because, basically, your digestive system has gone to sleep, and it hasn’t woken up yet. You don’t want to eat a large meal after a long fast because you will overload your system. You need to start small.

If you’ve done a fast for 48-72+ hours, the best thing to do would be to start with some cooked vegetables and broth. Then you would want to wait for two hours and then consume 3 oz. of protein that’s easy to digest, like fish, chicken, or an egg. You could also do a small amount of avocado.

After a long fast, you may also want to take certain things, such as:
• Apple cider vinegar (ACV) or betaine hydrochloride
• Bile salts
• Enzymes
• Probiotics

Foods to avoid after a long fast:
• Nuts and nut butters
• Red meat
• Raw cruciferous vegetables
• Dairy products

There is also a condition called refeeding syndrome, which is very rare. This could occur if you were deficient in certain electrolytes, then you did 1-2 weeks of fasting, and then you ate a refined carbohydrate or high sugar food.

This will spike insulin, which can cause electrolyte deficiencies in your blood. This can lead to feeling weak and confused and can even create a big strain on your heart about 3 hours later. You can avoid this problem by not having a high-carb meal and by taking certain electrolytes and nutrients during your fast.

Could vitamin D deficiency be at the root (no pun intended) of your hair loss?

In this video, we’re going to talk about the importance of vitamin D for your hair. In particular, I want to show you the connection between vitamin D deficiency and hair loss.

Right beneath your skin, you have follicles. These are like the roots of your hair. On the root area, you have sebaceous glands, which produce an oily, waxy substance that protects your hair.

Both the sebaceous glands and the follicles have vitamin D receptors.

There are various hair growth stages. One of these stages is called anagen—this is the new hair growth stage.

The anagen phase is dependent on vitamin D.

Your hair follicles are like small organs. Each is made up of 20 different cell types that regulate the growth of the hair. Hormones, immune cells, and proteins also play important roles in the hair growth process.

In cases of both alopecia and general hair loss in women, research has found that a mutation of the vitamin D receptors (VDR) could be the cause of the problem. This VDR mutation blocks your ability to absorb vitamin D into your hair follicles.

The key is to get more vitamin D. It’s ideal to have at least 10,000 IUs of vitamin D daily.

Bile salts can also help improve your absorption of vitamin D.

2:30 Share your success story!

In this video, we’re going to talk about the benefits of garlic for your liver.

I am going to focus on the phytonutrient in garlic called allicin.

To activate allicin, you need to crush your garlic and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before you consume it. You can also use aged garlic—the fermentation process releases a lot of allicin.

Here are the benefits of garlic for your liver.

1. Garlic acts as a powerful antioxidant, helping to reduce free radicals and oxidative stress. Garlic helps increase glutathione, which is the master antioxidant in your liver.

2. Garlic helps you break down bilirubin. Excess levels of bilirubin can cause a yellowing of your skin and eyes, known as jaundice.

3. Garlic helps you break down acetaminophen. Acetaminophen is a common drug used for headaches that can cause damage to the liver. Garlic helps counter those adverse effects.

3. Garlic acts as a powerful anti-inflammatory. In turn, this can potentially reduce the risk of fatty liver disease, liver cirrhosis, and fibrosis.

4. Garlic has powerful anti-microbial and anti-fungal properties.

5. Garlic acts as a natural blood thinner, potentially reducing the risk of blood clots (which can happen in the liver).

6. Garlic can help mobilize cholesterol.

7. Garlic has potent hepatoprotective properties, which essentially bullet-proofs your liver cells.

8. Garlic reduces liver enzymes (which signify liver damage).

Add more garlic to your diet and let me know how it benefits your liver health in the comments below.

In this video, we’re going to talk about how your pulse rate may indicate how long you’ll live.

There are other better indicators of your mortality risk, such as the CAC test, but you can test your resting pulse rate quickly and easily at home to help check in with your body. Why not give it a try?

Based on a meta-analysis, the risk of mortality from all causes is increased by 9% for every 10 beats per minute of resting heart rate.

For example, if your resting heart rate is 45 beats per minute, this would indicate a low risk of mortality, while 90 beats per minute would indicate a significantly higher risk of mortality.

Athletes tend to have very low resting heart rates because of their physical fitness. Those with coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, and high blood pressure tend to have much higher resting heart rates.

Keep in mind that if you’re on a medication that brings down your heart rate, the indication of mortality may be inaccurate.

One study showed that women with a resting heart rate greater than 76 bpm have a 26% increased risk of heart attack compared to those with a lower pulse rate.

Measuring your resting heart rate is easy. Simply use your fingers to feel your pulse and count each beat for one minute.

What controls your resting heart rate? This has to do with vagal tone—the activity of your vagus nerve and your parasympathetic nervous system.

Your parasympathetic nervous system is the part of your nervous system that is responsible for the “rest and digest” state. It helps your body recover after exercise.

The faster your pulse rate comes down to normal after exercise, the faster your recovery, which indicates better vagal tone.

You can strengthen your vagal tone with…
• Exercise (consistent and regular)
• Exercise recovery (give your body plenty of time to repair!)
• Sleep
• Fasting
• Low-carb diet (Healthy keto)
• Potassium
• Vitamin B1
• Vitamin D
• Lower your stress

If you have a double chin, I think the first thing you should do is get on the Healthy Keto diet and do intermittent fasting. That will help you get the weight off. Then, in addition to that, you may want to try these exercises for a double chin.

Exercises for a double chin:
1. Straight jaw jut
• Tilt your head back and look toward the ceiling
• Push your lower jaw forward to feel a stretch under the chin
• Hold the jaw jut for a 10 count
• Relax your jaw and return your head to a neutral position

2. Ball exercise
• Place a 9-10 inch ball under your chin
• Press your chin down against the ball
• Repeat 25 times daily

3. Pucker up
• With your head tilted back, look at the ceiling
• Pucker your lips as if you’re kissing the ceiling to stretch the area beneath your chin
• Stop puckering and bring your head to its normal position

4. Tongue stretch
• Look straight ahead, stick your tongue out as far as you can
• Lift your tongue upward and toward your nose
• Hold for 10 seconds and release

5. Neck stretch
• Tilt your head back and look at the ceiling
• Press your tongue against the roof of your mouth
• Hold for 5-10 seconds and release

6. Bottom jaw jut
• Tilt your head back and look at the ceiling
• Turn your head to the right
• Slide your bottom jaw forward

5:35 Share your success story!

Let’s talk about what makes good bacteria turn bad. Some bacteria do a lot of good things for us. Other bacteria are neutral. They don’t harm or help the body. But, sometimes, harmless bacteria will flip and become harmful.

The key factor that changes good bacteria into bad bacteria is their environment. Things like changes in pH, oxidative stress, temperature, and chemicals can affect the environment in the body.

Depending on what you eat, the environment in your body can change drastically. Antibiotics can also change the body’s environment very fast.

When bacteria are stressed because of environmental pressures, they develop colonies and protect themselves with biofilms. Biofilms are difficult to get rid of, and they’re linked to many different diseases.

When the body is under stress, the immune system becomes weakened. This makes us very susceptible to pathogens and developing infections. Out of all of the things that can harm us from an infection, I think the biggest factor is stress.

How to help prevent pathogens:
1. Make sure the environment your microbes live in is very friendly
2. Only take an antibiotic if you absolutely need it
3. If you take an antibiotic, also take a probiotic
4. Do whatever you can to minimize your stress level
5. Make sure your diet is very good (do healthy keto)
6. Do intermittent fasting

If you see a bullseye rash on your body, does that mean you have Lyme disease? Ticks carry a certain type of bacteria that can lead to Lyme disease.

The classic rash that is associated with Lyme disease is a bullseye rash. But, a bullseye rash doesn’t mean you have Lyme disease. It could be something else, like STARI.

Symptoms of southern tick associated rash illness (STARI):
• Mild flu symptoms
• Fatigue
• Muscle pain
• Headaches

The rash associated with STARI can look like a bullseye, or it can just look like a regular rash. Another type of tick that can give you a rash that doesn’t look like a bullseye is called the lone star tick. It’s also called the northern water tick, the turkey tick, and the cricker tick.

If you drink a lot of tea, you may want to take vitamin B1. Making sure you have enough vitamin B1 is more important if you’re drinking a lot of black tea rather than herbal tea.

Black tea has large amounts of tannins. A tannin is a chemical that inhibits the absorption of vitamin B1. Some kinds of tea, like green tea, are low in tannins. But, consuming a lot of black teas, like English breakfast tea and many others, can deplete you of vitamin B1 because they’re high in tannins.

The first symptom of a vitamin B1 deficiency is nervous energy. Nutritional yeast is a fantastic source of vitamin B1.

Other things that can deplete vitamin B1 (thiamine):
• Red wine/grapes
• Coffee
• Sulfites (in dry fruit and wine)
• Unripe fruit
• Caffeine
• Alcohol
• Sugar

Sugar is one of the main things that can deplete vitamin B1. Caffeine not only deletes you of vitamin B1 but also vitamin D and iron.

Zinc Starves Deadly Bacteria

2:43 How to bulletproof your immune system (free course)

In this video, we’re going to talk about why zinc starves deadly bacteria.

In the Journal of Nature Chemical Biology, a study was published that outlined zinc’s incredible ability to starve off a deadly bacteria called streptococcus pneumonia.

Streptococcus pneumonia lives in the sinuses and throat. This can be friendly bacteria until just the right conditions occur for it to turn pathogenic.

If you are zinc deficient and you’re going through stress, this bacteria can become very harmful. This is because these conditions can cause your immune system to become compromised.

Streptococcus pneumonia kills one million people every year from pneumonia and meningitis.

This bacteria is dependent on manganese. Manganese allows this bacteria to transport. Zinc acts as a key to lock up manganese so the bacteria can’t be transported.

However, most people are deficient in zinc because of the phytic acid we consume in grains. Phytic acid blocks zinc.

To get enough zinc in your diet, you need:
• Red meat
• Shellfish
• Fish
• Low grain consumption
• A healthy gut

What is iodine, and what is it really good for? Find out.

Timestamps
0:00 What is iodine?
0:13 What iodine is good for
4:10 Iodine deficiency causes
4:50 The best source of iodine
5:10 Share your success story!

Let’s talk about what iodine is good for. Iodine is a trace mineral. A trace mineral is a mineral you need in tiny trace amounts. Even though you only need trace amounts, iodine is very important for your body.

What iodine is good for:

1. The thyroid
• It creates thyroid hormones
• It promotes a healthy metabolism

2. Protection against excess estrogen
Iodine may help with conditions related to excess estrogen, such as:
• Fibrocystic breast
• Ovarian cysts

Iodine may also help decrease the risk of cancer (especially breast cancer, ovarian cancer, uterine cancer, and prostate cancer)

Potential causes of excess estrogen:
• Pregnancy
• Birth control pills
• Hormone replacement therapy
• Non-organic foods
• Soy products

3. Cognitive function (especially for a growing baby)

4. Reducing the need for insulin

5. Preventing hot flashes

It’s important to note that fluoride blocks the absorption of iodine. You can get too much fluoride from your water if your water filter doesn’t block it. Bromide or bromate, which is in flour products, can also block the absorption of iodine. It’s best not to consume any grains.

Other potential causes of an iodine deficiency:
• Our soils don’t have the microbes to mobilize these trace minerals
• Consuming too many cruciferous vegetables (you would have to consume a tremendous amount of cruciferous vegetables over a long period of time)

Although it’s rare, if you’re concerned about consuming too many cruciferous vegetables because of the possibility it will block iodine, you could just take sea kelp with your cruciferous vegetables.

Sea kelp is the best source of iodine. Just make sure it’s organic and from a healthy ocean. Sea kelp also contains other trace minerals, amino acids, and vitamins.

In this video, we’re going to talk about the first sign of vitamin F deficiency.

What is vitamin F? Vitamin F is no longer considered a vitamin because it doesn’t fit the traditional definition of a vitamin. Vitamin F is the combination of two essential fatty acids.

Essential fatty acids are fats that must come from your diet—your body can’t make them.

Vitamin F is ALA (alpha-linoleic acid), an omega-3 fatty acid, and LA (linoleic acid), an omega-6 fatty acid.

Every single organ in your body needs these two essential fatty acids.

They help you absorb calcium, build cell structures, maintain cell flexibility, and grow cells.

The problem with a typical Western diet is that it includes far too many omega-6 fatty acids and far too few omega-3 fatty acids. In a Western diet, people consume between 10 to 20x more omega-6 fatty acids than omega-3 fatty acids (10-20:1 ratio). This ratio should be 2:1 or 1:1.

The first sign of symptom of a vitamin F deficiency is dry, flaky skin.

If you have this problem, make sure you begin to restore a healthy ratio of omega-6 to omega-3.

It’s best to get your omega-3 fatty acids from natural sources, like fatty fish, fish oil, and cod liver oil.

Vitamin F deficiency can cause:
• Prostate enlargement
• Inflammation
• Vision problems
• Heart problems
• Brain problems

The best sources of vitamin F/omega-3 fatty acids are:
• Avocados
• Greens
• Almonds and walnuts
• Sprouts
• Chia
• Sunflower seeds
• Olive oil
• Fish (especially fatty fish)
• Eggs

Avoid junk food, processed foods, and fast foods.

Today I’m going to cover seven things that can help pull you out of depression. There is an interesting link between BDNF and depression. They found that there is no way to diagnose depression. But, they also found that people who are depressed have low levels of BDNF.

So, I want to talk about how to enhance BDNF. All of the trials delivering BDNF into the central nervous system have failed. So, how can we enhance it naturally?

BDNF is basically a fertilizer for the brain. It helps with nerve growth, nerve differentiation, and the maintenance of the synapse between the nerves.

Benefits of BDNF:
• It can help improve learning
• It can help improve long-term memory
• It helps higher thinking
• It helps you think more clearly
• It helps you become more mentally alert
• It can decrease inflammation
• It can increase the absorption of neurotransmitters

Things to help enhance BDNF and get out of depression:
1. Deep sleep (at least 7 high-quality hours of deep sleep)
2. Exercise (fastest and most effective method of increasing BDNF)
3. Sunlight
4. Intermittent fasting and periodic prolonged fasting
5. Healthy Keto
6. Avoid sugar
7. Magnesium

In this video, we’re going to talk about the health benefits of paprika.

Paprika is made from dried and ground red peppers. Hungary is a major source of paprika. The spice became popular in the 19th century.

When we talk about the health benefits of spices, we’re primarily talking about the phytonutrients in the spice. These phytonutrients are often related to color or pigments.

In paprika, there are various colors—yellow, orange, and red.

The yellow and orange pigments are alpha-carotene and beta-carotene. These are precursors to vitamin A.

Zeaxanthin, lutein, and B-cryptoxanthin are also yellow and orange pigments. These are great for your eyes.

Red pigments include capsanthin and capsorubin.

Together, these phytonutrients create some amazing health benefits. Take a look.

1. Vision – Paprika helps reduce the risk of age-related macular degeneration and cataracts.

2. Anti-inflammatory

3. Anti-cancer

4. Anti-diabetic

5. Suppresses UV-induced skin damage

In summary, paprika can be a great addition to Healthy Keto. Give it a try, and let me know your thoughts on it in the comments below.
