Today I’m going to share with you the only food that will not break a fast. When you look at the actual definition of fasting, it’s basically the absence of food. You’re not eating anything.

One of the biggest benefits of doing a fast is autophagy. Autophagy breaks down things that shouldn’t be there, and it turns those things into building blocks to make new tissue. It’s very anti-aging and can be beneficial for a variety of conditions. Autophagy is very therapeutic, and one of the biggest triggers is fasting.

Plants that are rich in phytochemicals can actually enhance autophagy and not inhibit it. When you consume raw cruciferous vegetables, you’re triggering autophagy.

The autophagy benefits from both fasting and phytonutrients in cruciferous vegetables could help:
• Remove damaged proteins from the body
• Increase stress resistance
• Stabilize genes
• Extend your life

You may want to experiment with this. Try different cruciferous vegetables like broccoli sprouts, cauliflower, or kale during your fast and evaluate your results.

Why is your stomach growling? It’s not actually from hunger. Find out the real reason!

1:50 How to stop stomach growling

Today we’re going to talk about what causes stomach growling? Is it from hunger, or what exactly is it?

You may have stomach sounds or stomach growling when you’re hungry, but hunger is not what’s causing it. Something called the migrating motor complex is what causes stomach growling. This is a certain housekeeping condition in your body where it’s cleaning out debris (extra food particles).

One really important function of the migrating motor complex is that it can prevent SIBO. SIBO is a condition where you have too much bacteria in your small intestine. The majority of bacteria should be in the large intestine. When bacteria get into the small intestine, you’ll start to be robbed of nutrients. You could also start to experience a lot of bloating from fermentation going on in your small intestine.

When you have SIBO, you can have a lot of stomach growling and stomach sounds going on because your body is trying to clean out the small intestine, and it can’t.

How to stop stomach growling:
• Eating (but if you have SIBO eating could increase bloating)
• Increase bile salts
• Decrease stress
• Fix SIBO (increase bile and take betaine hydrochloride)
• Do intermittent fasting

Today we’re going to talk about how certain herbs and spices can potentially counter aging.

Some herbs and spices have a unique anti-glycation effect. Glycation is a word used to describe a situation where you have glucose combining with a protein, or glucose combining with fat, in a certain way that makes that protein or fat unavailable.

This dysfunctional protein or fat could create problems in the body. These are advanced glycation end products. There are several concepts out there that talk about aging being the accumulation of advanced glycation end products.

There are several potent spices and herbs that are strong inhibitors of advanced glycation end products. But, if your diet is not right, these herbs won’t help. The healthy keto diet, exercise, and fasting are all strong inhibitors of advanced glycation end products.

Spices and herbs for anti-aging:
1. Anise
2. Cinnamon
3. Allspice
4. Clove
5. Oregano (very effective)

Today we’re going to talk about the sciatic nerve and why you might have sciatic nerve pain. Sciatic nerve pain is pain down the back of the leg, and it can go all the way down into the foot.

There are two main reasons why you could have sciatica pain:

1. A structural problem
Where the low back curve is not there.

2. An internal problem
There is something happening with the nerve itself.

The internal cause of sciatic pain has to do with an imbalance of omega 6 to omega 3 fatty acids. Omega 3 fatty acids have anti-inflammatory properties, and omega 6 fatty acids are more inflammatory. We need both of these fats, but we need them in the right ratios.

An imbalance of these fatty acids can:
1. Create a lot of inflammation and nerve pain.
2. Affect the lipids around the nerves.
3. Affect the sciatic nerve (the biggest nerve)

When omega 6 fatty acids (linoleic acid), or their byproducts become oxidized, it creates a massive inflammatory situation in the body.

How to get rid of sciatic pain (or any nerve pain):
1. Decrease the vegetable oils you consume
2. Increase the omega 3 fatty acids you consume
3. Get gamma-linoleic acid (evening primrose oil or borage oil)

I’ve talked about the importance of omega-3 fatty acids in other videos. However, in this video, I want to show you how you can spike your omega-3 levels using purified bile salts.

The liver makes bile, which is like a detergent that helps break down fats. The bile that the liver produces is called primary bile salts. In your colon, you have microbes that make secondary bile salts. These work together to help you digest fats.

Fats can be used for fuel, and others take the form of fat-soluble vitamins, like vitamins A, K, E, and D. You also have essential fatty acids, which are very important. These include omega-6 fatty acids and omega-3 fatty acids.

You need both omega-3s and omega-6s. However, the average American diet supplies you with far too much omega-6 and not enough omega-3, throwing off your ideal fatty acid ratio. Tests can help you determine your ratio so you can improve it (check out the link above).

Omega-3 fats are very anti-inflammatory, while omega-6 fats are very inflammatory. If you have too much omega-6 and not enough omega-3, you may experience:
• Inflammation
• Heart problems
• Vision problems
• Cognitive issues
• Mood problems
• Scaly, dry skin
• Skin atrophy
• Memory problems
• Health problems that end with “itis”

Getting enough omega-3s is only part of the issue—you also want to make sure the omega-3s you consume are broken down and absorbed correctly. Bile is vital to fat absorption. I believe most people have bile problems. This is where talking purified biles salts can help.

Good sources of omega-3 fatty acids include fatty fish like salmon and shellfish. Canned sardines and canned tuna are excellent sources of omega-3s as well. You can also take cod liver oil.

Why Your Muscles Need Most of Your Potassium

Dr. Berg’s High Potassium Electrolytes:

Potassium is very important for the body, but your muscles need most of it. Here’s why.

Timestamps:
0:00 Your muscles and potassium
0:25 The sodium-potassium pump
1:55 Membrane potential
3:30 Sodium and potassium
3:50 Fasting and potassium
4:05 What happens when potassium becomes low

Today we’re going to talk about why your muscles need most of your potassium. What’s unique about potassium is that it’s one mineral that we need a tremendous amount of. We need 4,700 mg of potassium. Out of all of the tissues in the body, 80% is needed mainly for your muscles.

There are billions of little pumps (sodium-potassium pumps) in the body that keep potassium on the inside of the cell and sodium outside of the cell. Any time you have two different minerals that are held apart like that, by a pump and by a membrane, you create a battery. The flow of electrons generates a certain amount of energy that’s stored in the battery. Your cells are mini batteries. Potassium is needed as a raw material to make sure the pump works.

Because this pump allows two potassium in and three potassium out, that difference creates a voltage. In the muscle, it’s about 90 millivolts compared to the skin, which is about 50 millivolts.

The voltage is the power of the battery created by the difference of potassium and sodium held apart. Another term for this is called membrane potential. When it’s at rest, it’s like a battery, but when it gets activated, it starts releasing electrical charge that then causes the muscle to contract. It also creates nerve impulses and causes glands to secrete.

Once the muscle is activated to contract, you lose potassium. The more exercise you do, and the more you sweat, the more you lose electrolytes. If you’re injured, or you go through a surgery or trauma, you will lose potassium. When the thyroid works, you’ll lose potassium. Consuming sugar will also cause you to lose potassium.

Sodium can be retained in the body, but we typically lose much more potassium. When you do fasting, your body will actually retain more potassium.

What happens when potassium becomes low:
• You can have muscle weakness
• You can become tired
• You can lose endurance
•  Your muscles can start to cramp

Don’t do another detox without first doing this!

2:05 Phases of detoxification
2:44 Detox reactions
3:40 Do this before you detox

If you’re considering doing a detox, you need to do something first to help prevent the detox reactions.

There is a right way to detox and a wrong way to detox. You need to balance your detox. When you start taking things to purge poisons from the body or kill microbes, endotoxins can be released into the body. This can create an immune reaction.

Endotoxins can turn off the bile flow through the liver and through the bile ducts. Bile can become very toxic to the liver if it’s stuck inside of it. There can be a back-up of toxins in the blood. It also reduces glutathione, which is supposed to help protect you from free-radical damage and oxidation.

Normally there are three different phases of detoxification. You have poison that’s being released, and your body breaks it down into a harmless water-soluble particle. But, phase three is all about the elimination of the toxin through the bile ducts. The endotoxin shuts down the bile flow, which also reduces phase 2 and phase 3, so there is a back-up of toxic waste in the body. This can create detox reactions.

Detox reactions:
1. Herxheimer reaction (flu-like symptoms)
2. Right-quadrant pain
3. Nausea
4. Stool changes
5. Itchiness
6. Vision changes
7. Dark urine

Do this before you detox:
• Take purified bile salts 30 minutes before you start the detox. You could also take purified bile salts about an hour later. If you start to experience a reaction, taking more bile salts may help.

0:13 Data
0:55 Coconut oil and cholesterol
2:00 Advanced lipid profile test
2:10 Medium-chain triglycerides
3:00 How to bulletproof your immune system

In this short video, I want to explain whether or not consuming coconut oil will raise your cholesterol. Yes, coconut oil could raise your cholesterol. But, who cares?

There is no research that shows any negative aspects of consuming coconut oil on your heart. There is no data that shows that even if your cholesterol goes up from consuming coconut oil, that you’re going to have a higher risk of a heart problem.

There is fat in coconut oil, and it may temporarily increase your cholesterol. But, it’s not about the total cholesterol. It’s about the LDL. This is known as “bad cholesterol.”

There are two types of LDL:

1. Small dense particles
2. Large buoyant particles

Small dense particles can cause problems. What determines whether or not you have these small dense particles, doesn’t have to do with coconut oil, cholesterol, or fat. It has to do with carbs. If your carbs are high, you’ll have the small dense type of LDL. If you go low carb, you may have high LDL, but it will be the large buoyant type.

A simple test you can do is called an advanced lipid profile test, which can determine what type of LDL you have.

Coconut oil has medium-chain triglycerides (MCT oil). This will typically cause your triglycerides to go down, your HDL to go up, and your insulin to go down.

3:30 Light sensitivity
3:40 Vascular keratitis
3:55 Dry eyes
4:32 Night blindness

Today we’re going to talk about the 11 things that your eyes can tell you about your nutritional status.

Conjunctivitis is inflammation of the outer part of the eye. This could be a virus, like pink eye. In this case, you could try colloidal silver and zinc.

Your eyes could also be inflamed from blue light if you’re in front of the computer all day long. There is a free app called f.lux that can filter out the blue light.

The less sleep you have, the more red your eyes can be. If you can’t sleep, you could have a potassium deficiency, calcium deficiency, magnesium deficiency, or a vitamin B1 deficiency.

Allergies could make your eyes red. Vitamin A and vitamin D may help with this issue. Cod liver oil is a good source of both vitamin A and vitamin D.

An immune disorder can occur with the eyes where you have high levels of a certain T cell (T helper cell 17). A good remedy could be vitamin D.

Hemorrhaging of the eye could mean that you need more vitamin C, or vitamin K. Vegetables are high in both of these vitamins.

Light sensitivity to the eyes could be a vitamin B1 deficiency. Nutritional yeast is a great source of vitamin B1.

Vascular keratitis is an inflammatory condition of the eyes that seems to respond well to B vitamins.

Dry eye is a classic symptom of a vitamin A deficiency. Fatty fish, egg yolks, butter, cheese, and cod liver oil are good sources of vitamin A. If you’re already consuming these foods, and you still have dry eyes, you could have a bile deficiency. In this case, purified bile salts may help.

Night blindness could be an issue of low amounts of vitamin A.

3:10 How to get alpha-lipoic acid

In this video, we’re going to cover the eight benefits of alpha-lipoic acid. Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) is a fat that shouldn’t be confused with alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), which is an omega-3 fatty acid. Alpha-lipoic acid has a lot of very interesting properties.

Benefits of alpha-lipoic acid:

1. Powerful antioxidant
When you’re exposed to various things, you get free-radicals that can damage your DNA, cellular membranes, and mitochondria. Alpha-lipoic acid could help protect you from that.

2. Glucose sensitizer
Alpha-lipoic acid could help normalize glucose levels.

3. Insulin sensitizer
Alpha-lipoic acid could help normalize insulin levels.

4. Increases glutathione
Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant that your body can make in the liver. It’s known as the master antioxidant.

5. Inhibits cancer
It may inhibit certain types of cancer.

6. Helps with autonomic neuropathy
This is a very common yet under-diagnosed condition related to diabetes. A good remedy may be to not only get on keto and intermittent fasting but to also start taking 600-1800mg of alpha-lipoic acid.

7. Protects cell membranes
Alpha-lipoic acid mainly deals with the protection of lipids. This is why it could help protect your cell membranes. If there’s damage to the membrane, all sorts of issues could happen.

8. Could help with diabetic retinopathy
High levels of sugar can damage the retinas. Alpha-lipoic acid may help minimize the damage to the retinas. Doing keto and intermittent fasting may also be beneficial.

If you’re going to take alpha-lipoic acid as a supplement, you may want to take it on an empty stomach. If you have a major condition you’re trying to deal with, the supplement form may be the most beneficial.

You can also get alpha-lipoic acid from:
• Organ meats
• Spinach
• Broccoli
• Brussels sprouts
• Tomatoes

3:09 Sources of tocotrienols
3:36 The best type of vitamin E

Today we’re going to talk about the best type of vitamin E. In nature, vitamin E always comes in a complex. The vitamin E complex is composed of four tocopherols and four tocotrienols. When I mention four, I’m talking about the four different forms (alpha, beta, delta, gamma).

The type of vitamin E that most people need more of is tocotrienols. You can very easily get tocopherols from the diet, so they usually aren’t needed in supplement form. Tocotrienols are more difficult to get from the diet.

Tocotrienols are different from tocopherols in that they are 5000 times faster at handling free radicals.

Vitamin E, in general, is a powerful lipid antioxidant, and one of the main functions is the protection of lipids. Lipids are in the cell membrane. Without vitamin E, all sorts of things can happen to the cell membranes.

Tocotrienols are like little antioxidants that are spinning extremely fast to clean up and neutralize free radical damage.

Potential benefits of vitamin E (especially tocotrienols):
• They may be anti-cancer.
• They may be cardioprotective.
• They may be liver-protective.
• They support the cell membranes of the skin, brain, nervous system, and the inside of the arteries.

Sources of tocotrienols:
• Rice (not keto-friendly)
• Palm oil
• Annatto (might be one of the best sources)

If you’re going to take vitamin E, it may be best to get the whole vitamin E complex, including both tocopherols and tocotrienols. Or you could try getting tocopherols from your diet, and get tocotrienols from a product made from annatto.
