2:42 Share your success story!

There are many reasons why you would want to take apple cider vinegar before bed. In this video, we’re going to focus on what taking apple cider vinegar before bed can do for your blood sugars.

Acetic acid is the main acid in apple cider vinegar, and it’s very anti-glycemic. This means it may help reduce your blood sugars after a meal. Acetic acid may also help reduce your blood sugars in the morning.

Normally, your blood sugars should be low in the morning. There is something called the dawn phenomenon or down effect, where your blood sugars are higher in the morning. This is because the high blood sugar isn’t coming from your diet. It’s coming from your liver.

Your liver is making extra glucose from protein, fat, and ketones. This is called gluconeogenesis. This could be caused by a problem with the blood sugars like insulin resistance, prediabetes, or diabetes.

How apple cider vinegar (acetic acid) can potentially help lower your blood sugars:
• It blocks enzymes that break down starches
• It reduces the liver’s production of gluconeogenesis
• It can make insulin more sensitive (may help improve insulin resistance, hyperglycemic, and hypoglycemia)

Your low back pain may actually be coming from an issue with a lumbar disc. Learn how to fix lumbar disc pain naturally.

Let’s talk about lumbar disc pain. In your discs that are in between your vertebrae, there are a few different parts. The center part is called the nucleus pulposus. Then, there are rings around the center called the annulus fibrosus. On the top and the bottom of the disc, you have vertebral endplates that connect the disc to the vertebra.

The center part of the disc is composed of 65% proteoglycans and 15% collagen. But, the outer part of the disk is composed of about 20% proteoglycans and 70% collagen. Proteoglycans are basically a mixture of protein and carbohydrate.

One big reason why the center part of the disk needs to be mainly carbohydrate is to retain fluid and remain gel-like. The outer part of the discs is mostly protein because it doesn’t need to have as much water. It just needs to be strong to protect the gel center.

The outer rings are very strong. But, when you have a herniation, the gel center part starts to leak out and break through the next part of the disc. It’s possible to have a small herniation within the disc that doesn’t extend and touch the nerve root at all.

When the gel breaks through to the next layer, it can eventually degrade and become inflammatory and more acidic. This can lead to pain. But, the pain is occurring within the disc itself. Usually, it will heal, but sometimes it won’t. I think most of these disc problems originate from a mechanical problem or initial injury and get worse from eating inflammatory foods.

People with type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome are at risk for disc herniation. Also, chronic hyperglycemia is associated with an increased risk of disc herniation.

Potential remedies for lumbar disc pain:
1. Eliminate inflammatory foods (sugar, refined carbs, and omega-6 fatty acids like vegetable oil)
2. Do regular intermittent fasting and periodic prolonged fasting
3. Consume omega-3 fatty acids
4. Take vitamin D3 (20,000 IUs) and magnesium

I want to introduce you to what I think is the best diet for autism.

Let’s talk about the best diet for autism. This is the overview and percentages of macros so you can create a meal plan for someone with autism.

This structure could potentially help provide significant improvements in the communication skills, sociability, cognitive function, demeanor, and self-control of someone with autism.

The typical ketogenic diet:
• 5% carbs
• 20% protein
• 75% fat

I think someone with autism should do the healthy version of keto by adding more fat (80-90% fat) and keeping the ingredients healthy. I would suggest that 25% of the fat be MCT oil. MCT oil can immediately give the person ketones. This will feed the cells directly to help promote improvement in the brain tissue. It may also be good to bring the person’s carbohydrates down to 10-20g.

The healthy version of keto would consist of a lot of non-starchy vegetables with a lot of fiber, a lot of leafy greens, or green powder. The person may want to avoid dairy, casein, gluten, and ghee.

The diet could consist of foods, such as:
• Fatty meat/fatty sausage
• Coconut oil
• Tallow
• Eggs
• Fatty fish
• Fatty nuts

You would also want to add electrolytes, B vitamins, and trace minerals to the diet.

Today, let’s talk about ascites. Ascites is a condition where someone’s belly is protruded like a basketball. But it’s not fat. It’s mostly fluid. The liver is leaking certain fluid into a sack around the abdominal organs.

The most common cause of ascites is cirrhosis. Cirrhosis is a condition where the liver has scar tissue that’s overwhelming the function of the liver. Now, the liver can’t function properly and is leaking fluid into the gut.

Other potential causes of cirrhosis are:
• Cancer
• TB
• Pancreatitis
• Heart disease

Associated symptoms:
• Portal hypertension
• Edema in the lower legs
• Bruising
• Gynecomastia
• Vomiting blood
• Confusion and cognitive dysfunction (potential remedies for this include: lactulose, sauerkraut, veggies, a moderate amount of protein, l-glutamine)

If I had ascites, I would start:
• Intermittent fasting
• Taking milk thistle
• Taking vitamin E (tocotrienols)
• Taking selenium
• A low-carb diet

Let’s talk about the dangers of someone giving you the wrong diagnosis. If you get the wrong diagnosis, your real problem may never be solved. To diagnose someone, you need complete and true data.

When you have conflicting information, it’s important to start asking questions and digging into the data yourself.

Evaluating someone’s diet is not looked at often in the medical profession. But, this data is extremely important. It’s crucial to get all of the information and determine which data is more important. Instead of focusing on something that can’t be changed, it may be more beneficial to focus on something that can be changed, like the diet.

It’s important when you evaluate to do these four things:
1. Get all of the data
2. Make sure it’s true
3. Understand that some data is more important
4. Ask yourself when the problem started and what happened just before it started

This is why you’re not losing weight on keto.

4:07 Share your success story!

Let’s talk about why you may not be losing weight on keto and what to do about this situation.

3 important things related to slow weight loss:
1. The goal is to get your ketones from your body fat, not just your diet. The body will use the dietary fat and ketones before it taps into your own fat.

You may need to cut down on the extra fat you consume. I would just consume the fat that normally comes with the protein.

Also, when we say that the ketogenic diet is 70-75% fat, we’re talking about calories, not the size or the volume of fat. Fat calories are more than double as far as the density of calories versus protein or carbohydrates.
• Keto is a low-carb diet
• High fat doesn’t mean unlimited fat

2. You must do intermittent fasting. What determines how much weight you’re going to lose and how deep you are into ketosis is where your insulin is at. A low-carb diet and fasting (intermittent and prolonged fasting) may help you reduce your insulin.

You may need to either reduce the number of meals you’re eating in a day or have your meals closer together so that you have a longer fasting period. Consuming more fat with your meals may help you fast longer.
• Take it to the next level
• Keep insulin low

3. A slow metabolism means you may have insulin resistance. I believe insulin resistance comes from years of consuming too many carbohydrates and eating too frequently.

Insulin is not just raised by a high-carb diet. It’s also raised by eating. You can potentially create insulin resistance and make insulin resistance worse by consuming frequent meals.

Do things to potentially help fix insulin resistance, including:
• A very low-carb diet
• Fasting longer
• Taking berberine
• Taking apple cider vinegar before bed
• Sleeping longer
• Exercising more

Today we’re going to talk about when not to take magnesium. The danger of taking too much magnesium is when the body can’t get rid of it. Typically there is a mechanism in the kidneys that can easily get rid of excess magnesium. But, there are certain conditions that can cause someone to be unable to get rid of magnesium.

A few symptoms of too much magnesium:
• Diarrhea
• Nausea
• Abdominal cramping
• Low blood pressure
• Depression
• Lethargy
• Difficulty breathing
• Irregular heartbeat
• Cardiac arrest

A few situations where you may not want to take large amounts of magnesium:
1. If you have kidney disease (chronic kidney disease, diabetic nephropathy, you’re on dialysis, or if you see low GFR on your kidney test)
2. If you have hypothyroidism
3. If you have Addison’s disease
4. If you’re taking certain medications like Fosamax, certain antibiotics, diuretics, or lithium

Let’s talk about what would happen if you got nine hours of sleep for seven days in a row. I would typically only get about six and a half hours of sleep. So, I decided to do an experiment on myself to see what would happen if I got nine hours of sleep.

What can happen if you don’t get good sleep:
1. Lowered immune system
2. Increased risk of heart attack and stroke
3. Altered blood sugars (increased hunger and cravings)
4. Cognitive decline
5. Worsened mood
6. Increased stress
7. Weight gain

I’ve seen amazing results since I’ve started getting nine hours of sleep at night. Here are a few things I’ve noticed:
• My neck, which is usually very stiff, is flexible (no inflammation)
• My mood is better (a lot more stress tolerance)
• I have more focus and concentration
• I have less hunger
• I have more endurance
• I’m getting better recovery

Because I was so used to getting six and half hours of sleep, I had to train myself to sleep longer. Here’s what I did:
• I’m in bed by 9:30 pm
• I take one capful of my Friendly Bacteria Probiotic Liquid
• I take one magnesium lactate supplement
• I take 3 of my Sleep Aid supplement
• I exercise for 1 hour earlier in the day so that I’m more tired

A snacking diet is the best way to get fat fast—find out why!

In this video, we’re going to talk about how to get fat.

I’ve made many videos on how to lose weight, but I haven’t done any on how to get fat. If you can understand how to get fat, then you can better understand what not to do to lose weight.

I stumbled on this diet called the nibbling diet. This diet includes 17 snacks per day. No kidding, this is an actual diet that was created in the 70s. Doing this diet is an easy way to gain weight.

There’s also a diet called the snack-all-day diet, which includes six snacks (180 calories each) and then dinner (300 calories).

These diets make you feel like you’re in control because you’re eating whenever you want. In reality, you’re out of control. Your hormones end up driving your eating habits while you sit in the back seat.

Every time you eat, your insulin levels spike. This can cause insulin resistance and serious weight gain. Insulin is the hormone that converts your food into fat and makes you hungry.

Eating snacks all day long is the best way to put on weight quickly—it works great for those who need to gain weight for a role in a movie.

Arguments for these types of diets include:
• “Animals eat all day, and they don’t get fat.” Animals have very different diets and digestive systems from ours.

• “Snacking helps prevent hunger.” In reality, each meal spikes your insulin levels and makes you more hungry.,

• “Snacking helps prevent low blood sugars.” The more snacking you do, the more hungry you will be and the worse off your blood sugars will be in the long run.

You can’t tap into your fat supply if you snack all day.

When you tap into your fat, you start losing weight, you don’t feel hungry, and you don’t have strong cravings for unhealthy foods.

If you’re not on Healthy Keto and intermittent fasting already, give it a try, and I think you’ll see some incredible weight loss results.

In this video, we’re going to talk about where cancer comes from.

Interestingly, cancer cells come from normal cells. Why?

When the mitochondria of a normal cell become damaged, the cell can become cancerous.

There are certain ancient genes built into our cells that our bodies (and other organisms) have been using for a very long time. Under certain circumstances, a cell can have an adaptation that it uses as a plan-B to help it survive.

The difference between a normal cell and a cancer cell is a cancer cell’s metabolism. Cancer cells run on a historic-type metabolism that uses fermentation.

When this change in metabolism happens, then a cancer cell becomes immortal—it no longer has a point where it stops dividing. It continues to divide rapidly and hogs all the fuel. It can also migrate, which is called malignancy. Cancer cells typically migrate to areas of inflammation.

Cancer cells require angiogenesis. This is a condition where the tumor is fed new blood vessels so it can get nutrients and oxygen. Certain types of chemotherapy address angiogenesis using anti-angiogenesis.

The question is, are there natural things that are anti-angiogenic?

Yes, there are! Take a look:
• Wormwood
• Curcumin
• Resveratrol
• Green tea
• Cruciferous vegetables

These things can cause cancer cells to commit suicide while having no adverse effects on normal cells. This is known as selective apoptosis.

Cancer cells need growth factors to grow. Insulin is one of the most abundant growth factors in the body. Insulin is known to trigger cancer growth.

A low-carb diet is the best way to keep insulin down.

IGF-1 is another abundant growth factor. The best way to lower this growth factor is to do fasting. At 24, 48, and 72 hours of fasting, your IGF-1 levels reduce by 43%, 76%, and 82%, respectively.

Fasting also stimulates mitophagy and increases your antioxidant networks.

The top things that cause damage to the mitochondria are:
• Chronic chemical exposure
• Chronic stress
• Inflammation
• UV exposure
• Chronic exposure to glucose
• Poor immune system function

Autophagy: Exercise vs. Fasting

What triggers autophagy more: exercise or fasting? Find out.

Timestamps
0:00 What is autophagy?
0:48 What triggers autophagy?
3:18 Share your success story!

Let’s talk about exercise vs. fasting when it comes to triggering autophagy. Autophagy is a condition. It’s the recycling of old worn-out cell parts. It’s a condition that’s very good for the body.

Autophagy is all about anti-aging. When we age, we have a deficiency of autophagy. Autophagy is also very deficient in chronic disease states. So, it’s very important to know how to trigger autophagy.

The suppression of glucose with the increase of ketones is what triggers autophagy. This is why fasting is probably the most potent thing to trigger autophagy.

But, exercise can also trigger autophagy. Exercise forces the body to use up glucose, and it helps increase insulin sensitivity. When you exercise, you lower insulin. When insulin becomes too high, it can knock you out of autophagy. It can be very beneficial to exercise while fasting because you have a compounding effect.

The autophagy that’s created when you exercise will only last until the next time you eat. Compared to if you fast for 48 hours, you’re getting a massive amount of autophagy.

When it comes to exercise, the amount of autophagy you’re going to get is going to be related to the intensity and the volume of exercise you do. A strong, resistant type workout with high intensity and a good amount of volume can give you more autophagy. But, a low-intense endurance type workout while fasting can enhance the autophagy you’re getting from fasting.

4:10 Share your success story!

Let’s talk about why you might experience digestive problems when you break a long fast and how to help prevent these digestive problems.

Digestive issues you could experience after breaking a prolonged fast:
• Diarrhea
• Loose stool
• Gas
• Abdominal pain
• Bloating
• Nausea

This could happen because, basically, your digestive system has gone to sleep, and it hasn’t woken up yet. You don’t want to eat a large meal after a long fast because you will overload your system. You need to start small.

If you’ve done a fast for 48-72+ hours, the best thing to do would be to start with some cooked vegetables and broth. Then you would want to wait for two hours and then consume 3 oz. of protein that’s easy to digest, like fish, chicken, or an egg. You could also do a small amount of avocado.

After a long fast, you may also want to take certain things, such as:
• Apple cider vinegar (ACV) or betaine hydrochloride
• Bile salts
• Enzymes
• Probiotics

Foods to avoid after a long fast:
• Nuts and nut butters
• Red meat
• Raw cruciferous vegetables
• Dairy products

There is also a condition called refeeding syndrome, which is very rare. This could occur if you were deficient in certain electrolytes, then you did 1-2 weeks of fasting, and then you ate a refined carbohydrate or high sugar food.

This will spike insulin, which can cause electrolyte deficiencies in your blood. This can lead to feeling weak and confused and can even create a big strain on your heart about 3 hours later. You can avoid this problem by not having a high-carb meal and by taking certain electrolytes and nutrients during your fast.

Could vitamin D deficiency be at the root (no pun intended) of your hair loss?

In this video, we’re going to talk about the importance of vitamin D for your hair. In particular, I want to show you the connection between vitamin D deficiency and hair loss.

Right beneath your skin, you have follicles. These are like the roots of your hair. On the root area, you have sebaceous glands, which produce an oily, waxy substance that protects your hair.

Both the sebaceous glands and the follicles have vitamin D receptors.

There are various hair growth stages. One of these stages is called anagen—this is the new hair growth stage.

The anagen phase is dependent on vitamin D.

Your hair follicles are like small organs. Each is made up of 20 different cell types that regulate the growth of the hair. Hormones, immune cells, and proteins also play important roles in the hair growth process.

In cases of both alopecia and general hair loss in women, research has found that a mutation of the vitamin D receptors (VDR) could be the cause of the problem. This VDR mutation blocks your ability to absorb vitamin D into your hair follicles.

The key is to get more vitamin D. It’s ideal to have at least 10,000 IUs of vitamin D daily.

Bile salts can also help improve your absorption of vitamin D.

In this video, we’re going to talk about the benefits of garlic for your liver.

I am going to focus on the phytonutrient in garlic called allicin.

To activate allicin, you need to crush your garlic and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before you consume it. You can also use aged garlic—the fermentation process releases a lot of allicin.

Here are the benefits of garlic for your liver.

1. Garlic acts as a powerful antioxidant, helping to reduce free radicals and oxidative stress. Garlic helps increase glutathione, which is the master antioxidant in your liver.

2. Garlic helps you break down bilirubin. Excess levels of bilirubin can cause a yellowing of your skin and eyes, known as jaundice.

3. Garlic helps you break down acetaminophen. Acetaminophen is a common drug used for headaches that can cause damage to the liver. Garlic helps counter those adverse effects.

3. Garlic acts as a powerful anti-inflammatory. In turn, this can potentially reduce the risk of fatty liver disease, liver cirrhosis, and fibrosis.

4. Garlic has powerful anti-microbial and anti-fungal properties.

5. Garlic acts as a natural blood thinner, potentially reducing the risk of blood clots (which can happen in the liver).

6. Garlic can help mobilize cholesterol.

7. Garlic has potent hepatoprotective properties, which essentially bullet-proofs your liver cells.

8. Garlic reduces liver enzymes (which signify liver damage).

Add more garlic to your diet and let me know how it benefits your liver health in the comments below.
