In this video, I’m going to talk to you about what vitamin D does to your immune system. I may have covered this in the past, but I think this is an important topic you should know more about.

Vitamin D is intimately connected to every single immune reaction. In fact, white blood cells have the ability to activate vitamin D.

One effect that some viruses have on the immune system is to turn off vitamin D receptors. They know that vitamin D is important, so they prevent it from becoming useful so they can thrive.

Vitamin D deficiencies occur when there’s not enough sun—like wintertime. This is one reason why we get a spike in the flu and other viruses in the winter. The Spanish flu pandemic of 1819 peaked in January.

Between November and March, we have far more instances of autoimmune diseases, like lupus, MS, type 1 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, and inflammatory bowel disease.

Vitamin D has natural anti-inflammatory properties. Inflammation is a huge contributor to things like autoimmune diseases.

Vitamin D is also an immune modulator. It helps regulate your immune system, so it’s not working too much (like attacking healthy body tissue) and not too little (like not being able to fight off viruses).

Vitamin D also helps create antimicrobial compounds, such as cathelicidins and defensin.

It is virtually impossible to get enough vitamin D from food alone. You need to get vitamin D from the sun.

Metabolic Syndrome Is Really the Hyperinsulinemia Syndrome

Metabolic syndrome should really be called hyperinsulinemia syndrome: here’s why!

Timestamps:

0:57 Why high insulin causes insulin resistance
2:50 What causes insulin resistance?
4:43 Summary

In this video, let’s talk about metabolic syndrome. This is also known as syndrome X.

Metabolic syndrome is a combination of several health problems, including:
• High lipids
• High blood sugar
• Insulin resistance or diabetes
• High blood pressure
• Obesity

I want to talk about why metabolic syndrome should really be called hyperinsulinemia syndrome. The convention viewpoint on this is that insulin resistance leads to increased insulin—is that true? Or is the high insulin that causes insulin resistance?

To figure this out, all we have to do is observe what happens after a gastric bypass—where they bypass part of the small intestine. The small intestine affects insulin production.

As it turns out, a gastric bypass reduces high insulin. In turn, this reduces type 2 diabetes by 83%. It also reduces high blood pressure by 63% and reduces high cholesterol by 61%. All of these are what make up syndrome X or metabolic syndrome. Additionally, gastric bypass improves sleep apnea, PCOS, fatty liver, GERD, and joint pain.

If you lower insulin, you produce a massive amount of change across the board with your health—including many issues associated with metabolic syndrome.

When you have high insulin over a period of time, the body starts to resist it. In turn, this raises insulin more, which also causes more insulin resistance. It’s a vicious cycle, but only if you continue to have poor dietary habits, like:
• Frequent eating
• Consuming too many carbohydrates
• Consuming too much sugar

Most doctors just don’t connect these dots.

In this video, I want to talk about hot flashes. I’ve talked about different causes of hot flashes before, but I want to cover some other causes of hot flashes that you may not know about.

The hypothalamus is a region in your forebrain that controls the menstrual cycle. It works through the pituitary gland. Around age 52, you lose your ovarian function, also known as menopause. With that comes a loss of certain hormones. Your adrenal gland acts as a backup for these hormones.

During menopause, you may experience:
• Hot flashes
• Night sweats
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Stress
• Muscle loss
• Bone breakdown

Strengthening your adrenals is one of the best ways to help prevent menopause symptoms. You can strengthen your adrenals by getting quality sleep, lowering your stress levels, and normalizing your cortisol levels.

Your pituitary gland is a major storage site for vitamin E. When you go through menopause, your vitamin E levels may drop, which may cause more symptoms. A high-quality vitamin E complex can help reduce symptoms.

Iodine from sea help is also an effective remedy for hot flashes. Iodine helps balance estrogen dominance.

Improving adrenal function alone is typically effective. But there’s another cause of hot flashes, which is your liver. Your liver’s purpose is to detoxify chemicals, poisons, heavy metals, and excess hormones. It removes hormones when you have far too much.

The problem is, many people don’t have full liver function—especially after your 50s.

You can improve liver function by:
• Consume cruciferous vegetables (or DIM)
• Taking calcium D-glucarate
• Detoxing the liver
• Lowering ammonia
• Increase liver circulation

In this video, I want to talk about the benefits of fasting and intermittent fasting for your immune system.

The benefits of fasting are amazing—especially if you can do a 72-hour fast. Most people will need to build up to a fast this long by starting with a 48-hour fast. It’s a good idea to do a 48 or 72-hour fast periodically—maybe once every month or two.

The benefits of fasting on the immune system have to do with literally growing a new immune system. Here’s what it helps with:
1. Boosts white blood cell count, including phagocytes, T-cells, and B-cells.
2. Strongly surpasses inflammation by supporting cytokines
3. Decreases PKA
4. Kills old and damaged white blood cells through autophagy

Do This to Help Dissolve Gallstones

1:00 Two natural gallstone remedies
2:08 What can increase your risk of gallstones?

Today we’re going to talk about two things that can help dissolve gallstones. If you just have one or two stones, you may want to consider giving these natural remedies for gallstones a try.

Gallstones are caused by supersaturated cholesterol with a bile deficiency. It’s not a high level of cholesterol that causes gallstones. Instead, it’s a superconcentrated amount of cholesterol with a lack of bile salts. Bile salts can help keep the cholesterol from saturating and forming crystals.

2 things to help dissolve gallstones:

1. Omega-3 fatty acids
(Polyunsaturated fatty acids)
Fish oils can help decrease biliary saturation of cholesterol, and therefore decrease the risk of gallstones. Cod liver oil may be the best option because it also has vitamin A and vitamin D.

2. Purified bile salts
Your body makes bile salts. You can also get bile salts in supplement form. Bile salts can potentially dissolve stones and decrease crystal formation.

These things in high amounts can potentially increase your risk of getting gallstones:

1. Insulin
Remedy: Cut down your carbs

2. Cortisol
Remedy: Cut down your stress

3. Estrogen
Remedy: Handle any type of estrogen dominance situation

Is Lemon Juice Acid or Alkaline?

0:52 Benefits of lemon juice

In this quick video, I want to answer a question that keeps coming up: “is lemon juice acid or alkaline?” Some people say lemon juice will alkalize the body, and some will say it will acidify the body—which is correct?

Citric acid is a very strong acid in lemons. Lemon juice is very acidic. But, as soon as you consume it, it gets burned up in the body and turns alkaline. Lemon juice won’t alkalize the blood or body, but it will alkalize the urine.

Benefits of lemon juice:
• Could help reduce the risk of gout
• Could potentially reduce uric acid stones and calcium oxalate stones
• Raw lemon juice is a good source of vitamin C

Lemon juice is acid, but it turns into an alkaline compound about an hour after it’s consumed.

In this video, I’m going to talk to you about ginseng benefits for men over 50. Many of you have heard about ginseng, but you’re not 100% about what it does.

Ginseng is a herbal root that has been used for over 2,000 years in Chinese medicine. It’s a super tonic that does a number of things to increase your vitality. It’s great for men over 50 and women going through menopause.

The majority of ginseng benefits come from one phytonutrient called ginsenoside PPD.

Research shows that ginseng can help improve:
1. Vitality
2. Memory
3. Energy
4. Insulin levels
5. Alertness
6. Calmness
7. Focus
8. Testosterone levels

Ginseng has anti-amyloid properties. Amyloid plaques are a major contributing factor in Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders.

Ginseng also has shown to support heart function, help prevent heart arrhythmias, and improve hippocampus function.

In this video, I want to talk about how you can wake up refreshed every morning. When you wake up, do you feel:
• Grouchy
• Irritable
• Tired
• Exhausted
If so, this video is for you.

The best indication of whether you’re well-rested or not is how you feel when you wake up in the morning and how you feel throughout the day.

The most important factor in quality sleep and waking up feeling refreshed is the sleep hormone called melatonin. Melatonin is triggered when you aren’t exposed to light. When it’s dark at night, and less light is shining into your eye, it activates the pineal gland, which then turns serotonin into melatonin. This makes you tired.

Any light source can potentially turn off the pineal gland and melatonin production. Melatonin is also vitally important for your immune system. Melatonin has numerous other functions as well. It’s used as an antioxidant, which helps prevent free-radicle damage.

The problem with taking melatonin supplements is that your body then makes less of it. It’s not a fix to your problems.

As you age, your melatonin decreases. This can cause poor sleep and immune function as you get older. It can also cause inflammation in the body.

10-11 pm is a good time to go to bed.

This is how you can enhance melatonin production before bed:
1. Lights out before bed
2. Water filter for removing fluoride
3. Glycine
4. Reduce blue light exposure
5. Get sun and vitamin D during the day
6. Lower stress, caffeine, and alcohol
7. Keep your bedroom cool
8. Avoid EMFs

Today I want to cover the things that could happen if you’re deficient in omega-3 fatty acids. Typically when people think of omega-3 fatty acids, they think of fatty fish. Fatty fish like salmon and sardines are great sources of omega-3 fatty acids.

If you consume fish that is less fatty, like codfish, you won’t get a lot of omega-3 fatty acids. But, cod liver oil is actually one of the best sources of omega-3 fatty acids. Cod liver oil is also a good source of vitamin A and vitamin D. It may be beneficial to consume fatty fish 2-3 times a week, do cod liver oil, or consume seafood.

Omega 3 fatty acid deficiency symptoms:
1. Rough scaly skin
2. Dermatitis
3. Dry eyes
4. Dry hair
5. Age-related macular degeneration
6. Arrhythmia
7. Fatty liver
8. Hypertension

Today we’re going to talk about the three fats that could potentially help reverse a fatty liver. Many people are afraid of fat. They think that if they consume any fat, it will give them a fatty liver. But, I believe that carbohydrates are really the big cause behind a fatty liver.

Here are three fats you could start to consume in larger amounts to potentially help fix a fatty liver:

1. Olive oil (organic extra virgin)
• Anti-inflammatory
• Omega-9 fatty acid
• Supports a fatty liver

2. Fish oil or cod liver oil (wild-caught)
• Rich in omega-3 fatty acid
• Can help inhibit fat from accumulating on the liver
• Can help reduce the fat in the liver
• Anti-inflammatory
• Supports the retinas, heart, and brain

3. Virgin coconut oil
• Can help reverse a fatty liver in rat studies

Other things you could do to help reduce fat on the liver:
1. Purified bile salts
2. Choline
3. Cutting carbs and sugar (especially fructose)
4. Fasting

3 amazing lemon juice benefits:

1. Citric acid
Will bind with oxalates and help reduce the risk of kidney stones.

2. Vitamin C
Lemon juice can provide a good amount of vitamin C. But, it needs to be from raw lemons.

3. Alkaline
Lemon juice turns into an alkaline compound in the body. This can help decrease the risk of gout. It can also potentially reduce the risk of getting uric acid stones.

Heart Disease Starts When You Are a Kid

1:39 The most important risk factor

Today we’re going to talk about something very important. It has to do with how arteriosclerotic changes or disease may actually start in young people. You wouldn’t think heart disease starts this early, but there is some interesting data that discusses various changes in the coronary artery and the aorta very early on.

• One document included the deaths of young people in traumatic events. They observed that the arteries had fatty streaks and the start of coronary heart disease.

• Autopsies were done on 300 soldiers in the Korean War, where they found that 77% had coronary heart disease.

• Most 20-29 year olds had fatty streaks in their coronary artery as well as in the aorta.

• In one paper, there was interesting data about fatty streaks starting as young as the age of seven.

• Fibrous plaque usually starts in a person’s 20s.

• This all can begin without any symptoms. The person may have no idea what’s happening.

The most important risk factor is insulin resistance. This comes from consuming too many carbohydrates and sugar. Carbs create several mechanisms that could destroy the inside of the vascular system.

2:16 More interesting benefits

Every once and a while, when I come across a product that I really like, I like to share it. Today I want to share with you a little bit about a product I highly recommend called Trimona. Trimona is a type of yogurt that I think is very special.

A few reasons why I like Trimona:
• It’s grass-fed
• They use cows that generate A2 protein versus A1 (less allergies)
• It’s organic
• It’s whole fat
• It’s fermented for 30 hours
• It’s non-strained
• There are no thickeners or additives
• It’s plain
• It’s non-GMO

Trimona has:
• 10g of carbs
• 6g of sugar
• 8g of protein
• 8g of fat

Trimona also has friendly bacteria, including lactobacillus bulgaricus.

A few potential benefits of lactobacillus bulgaricus:
• Could help improve lactose intolerance
• Stimulates the immune system
• Supports the liver
• Could help decrease diarrhea
• Could help decrease inflammation in the gut
• Could help decrease constipation

The pH of this yogurt is more acidic than other products out there. Also, because it’s grass-fed, it’s going to have higher amounts of a certain type of fat called CLA. Even though it’s an omega 6 fatty acid, it doesn’t create inflammation. It may actually help the immune system, help build muscle, and even help promote weight loss. This product also has a good amount of omega 3 fatty acids, vitamin A, and even vitamin K2.

The Tongue Can Determine a Vitamin C Deficiency

Could something as simple as looking at your tongue help you determine if you could have a vitamin C deficiency? Check this out.

DATA:
https://ift.tt/2qTBCTj

Timestamps
0:00 Determining a vitamin C deficiency
0:10 Scorbutic tongue
1:00 Vitamin C deficiency
2:10 Other vitamin C deficiency symptoms
3:05 Great vitamin C sources

Today we’re going to talk about how to determine a major vitamin C deficiency just by looking at the tongue. The name of this is called scorbutic tongue.

Scorbutic tongue is a combination of:
1. Glossitis — A condition where the tongue is inflamed and has a shiny and sometimes red appearance.
2. Red blotches — This is very tiny micro hemorrhaging of the blood vessels. You may also notice this in other places around the body.

Vitamin C deficiency starts off very gradually, and the more deficient you are, the more symptoms you have. You don’t really want to wait until you have all of the symptoms to do something about it.

It could take about a month of not consuming vitamin C for symptoms to show up. Other things can cause a vitamin C deficiency by preventing the absorption of vitamin C in the body. You may be consuming vitamin C, but your body may not be absorbing it, which could create a deficiency. Sugar can especially block the absorption of vitamin C.

Other vitamin C deficiency symptoms:
• Fatigue
• Weakness
• Sore arms or legs
• Bleeding gums
• Bone pain
• Bruising
• Red/purple spots
• Loose teeth

Great vitamin C foods to consume:
• Citrus (raw lemon juice)
• Peppers (red and green peppers)
• Sauerkraut
• Greens
• Parsley
• Cabbage

The Best Way to Get Metabolic Flexibility

Timestamps:
0:00 Metabolic flexibility vs. metabolic inflexibility
0:17 What is metabolic flexibility?
1:01 What causes metabolic inflexibility?
3:05 The best way to get metabolic flexibility

I’ve done videos in the past on the topic of not seeing results after going off keto and then going back on keto. We’re going to talk about how metabolic flexibility vs. metabolic inflexibility relates to this topic. I’m also going to talk about the best to get metabolic flexibility.

Metabolic flexibility is your body’s capacity to adapt to different fuels. Very few people have metabolic flexibility. This makes switching from a high carb diet to a low carb diet challenging—and it takes time to adapt to keto. As you switch back and forth between high carb and low carb diets, your metabolism slows down.

What causes metabolic inflexibility?
• History of insulin elevation over time
• Yo-yo dieting
• Stress
• Pregnancy
• Poor sleep
• Over-training
• Inflammation

While a small number of people will be able to easily go back and forth between diets. However, for people who naturally struggle with metabolic inflexibility, like me, you will need to try a different approach. You will have to consistently keep insulin levels down, which means no cheat meals or snacks.

The best ways to get a consistent reduction of insulin are:
• Keto
• Intermittent fasting
• Exercise
• Nutrients

Gaining metabolic flexibility can take a lot of time. It can take years of healthy lifestyle choices to speed up your metabolism.

Red or White Wine: Which Has More Sulfites?

2:00 What causes a stuffy nose while drinking wine

In this video, I want to talk about sulfites. Which has more sulfites, red or white wine? I’m not recommending wine on a keto diet, but some will drink wine occasionally. I’ve had questions about various symptoms that can occur when drinking wine.

Sulfites are naturally created when you ferment grapes, and they also preservatives that are added to wine to prevent it from turning into vinegar.

Certain people have a sensitivity to sulfites. This can cause:
• Hives
• Itchiness
• Flushed skin
• Dizziness

From least to most, here’s how much sulfites each wine has:
Red wine: 160 ppm
White wine: 210 ppm
Sweet wine: 400 ppm

As you can see, white wine has more sulfites than red wine, and sweet wine has more sulfites than dry wines.

If you experience headaches when drinking red wine, it’s often due to higher levels of tannins. Tannins are also in:
• Tea leaves
• Nuts with skin
• Dark chocolate
• Strawberries
• Coffee
