Will eating too little damage your metabolism? Find out.

Will eating too little damage your metabolism? Maybe you’re doing fasting, and when you do eat, you’re having a certain amount of calories that you feel isn’t enough. Will this slow down your metabolism?

Many people are told to consume small frequent meals to keep the metabolism going. I do not believe this is true at all.

If you’re doing a low-calorie diet, it depends on what’s happening with your insulin. What’s behind a slow metabolism or a stuck set point is high insulin. Insulin resistance is creating this problem. Insulin resistance is created by years of consuming refined carbohydrates or eating too frequently.

If you have insulin resistance, you have higher amounts of insulin. High insulin prevents weight loss.

How to fix your metabolism:
• Do fasting
• Keep your carbs low
• Keep your nutrients high

If you’re on a low-calorie diet, but you’re consuming carbs, then you won’t be able to fix insulin resistance or boost your metabolism.

If you’re consuming nutrient-dense meals, then you won’t damage your metabolism.

You could do a low-calorie diet while still getting all of the nutrients you need and cutting out carbs, and it won’t affect the metabolism.

Typically the way someone destroys their metabolism is by doing a series of diets that are high in carbs and low in nutrients.

Glucagon Triggers Ketosis, Insulin Blocks It

Glucagon opposes insulin. Find out more about this interesting fat-burning hormone.

0:00 Glucagon
0:13 What is glucagon?
0:23 Glucagon and ketosis
1:11 Insulin vs. glucagon
3:37 What will inhibit glucagon?

I’ve created a lot of videos on insulin, blood sugar, and diabetes. But, there is another hormone that works with insulin that I haven’t talked much about. It’s called glucagon.

Glucagon is a hormone that opposes insulin. Glucagon turns the switch on for ketosis (the state of fat burning). Insulin turns the switch off. Insulin blocks ketosis.

Glucagon releases stored sugar. Stored sugar is called glycogen. Glucagon will release glycogen into glucose and will turn fat into ketones. Insulin will store glucose as glycogen and as fat.

Insulin lowers sugar in the blood, but glucagon raises it. Glucagon is a counter hormone to insulin.

Let’s say you have too much insulin and it shoves your blood sugar way down, so you get hypoglycemia. Normally, glucagon is supposed to kick in and counter that. Glucagon is a fat-burning hormone that helps keep the blood sugar where it needs to be.

Insulin is a dominating hormone. In the presence of insulin, glucagon will be lowered. Insulin knocks you out of ketosis, but glucagon actually puts you into ketosis.

Insulin is triggered by carbohydrates, protein, and eating. Glucagon is triggered by protein, vigorous exercise, adrenaline, GIP, and fasting.

High sugar in the diet and insulin will both inhibit glucagon.

Do you have to consume dietary fat to get into or stay in ketosis? Find out.

Timestamps:
0:00 Do you need fat to stay in ketosis?
0:10 Dietary fat and ketosis
0:40 What if you don’t want to lose weight?
0:55 Fat-soluble vitamins
1:20 Low-fat proteins
2:00 How to get into ketosis

Today we’re going to talk about whether or not consuming dietary fat on keto is necessary to stay in ketosis.

When you start keto, in the beginning, you’re going to adapt from sugar burning to fat burning. If your dietary fat is too low, you could have a rough time on the keto diet because you’ll be hungry all of the time. It’s the dietary fat in the meal that keeps you satisfied and allows you to fast for longer. It makes it easier to get into ketosis if you’re not so hungry.

Let’s say you’re on the ketogenic diet, but you no longer want to lose weight. In this situation, if you don’t consume enough fat, you’ll keep losing weight. When you achieve your weight loss goal, and you don’t want to lose any more weight, you have to add more fat to the diet.

It’s important to consume the right type of fats to be sure you’re getting enough fat-soluble vitamins as well as essential fatty acids. If you’re not doing the right type of fats, you could become deficient.

You always need to look at the ratio of protein to fat. On the keto diet, you want to make sure you get enough fat with the protein you consume. You never want to do low-fat proteins on the ketogenic diet. Low-fat high-protein foods like soy protein isolates are terrible on the liver and kidneys.

It’s also important to note that fat is not what gets someone into ketosis. The lowering of carbs is what gets the body into ketosis.

Today I want to cover the best foods for gallstones. Gallstones are caused by a situation where you have supersaturated cholesterol that’s forming a stone. But, just because you have high cholesterol, this doesn’t mean that you’ll get a gallstone. You also have to have low amounts of bile salts. Supersaturated cholesterol, in combination with a bile deficiency, could lead to gallstones.

The foods that we’re going to talk about are great for increasing bile production. Primary bile salts are made by your liver, and secondary bile salts are made by your microbes.

There are a lot of natural things that can help you increase bile and reduce gallstones.

A few potentially helpful supplements for gallstones:
• Choline
• Bile salts
• Omega-3 fatty acids (as a supplement or from foods)

The best foods for gallstones:
1. Artichokes
2. Endive
3. Okra
4. Beets and beet tops
5. Cruciferous vegetables
6. Dandelion greens
7. Grass-fed butter
8. Apple cider vinegar
9. Lemons and limes

Potential causes of gallstones:
• High cortisol
• High insulin
• Estrogen
• Low-fat high-protein type diets
• Vegetable oils

Timestamps

Did you know chronic stress destroys your ability to experience pleasure? When you experience short-term stress, your cortisol spikes and dopamine will increase initially. Dopamine is involved with pleasure. In this case, it can act as a protective countering effect to stress.

When you go through stress for a long period of time, you’re constantly triggering dopamine to the point where the receptors for dopamine start downgrading. Eventually, it won’t even work anymore.

If you have stress and high cortisol over a long period of time, you may notice:
• It’s more difficult to experience pleasure
• You’re less motivated
• You’re less awake and alert
• You have more stress

What you could do in this situation:
1. Get more sleep
2. Decrease fear in your life (stop watching the news)
3. Exercise (get out in nature and exercise)
4. Decrease stress (isolate the source of your stress and do what you can to eliminate it or reduce it)

Timestamps:
0:00 Zinc and the liver
0:10 Zinc deficiency symptoms
1:46 What you could do
1:58 Foods rich in zinc

In this video, I want to talk about the relationship between zinc and your liver. Zinc is probably one of the most important minerals for the liver. Symptoms of a zinc deficiency are identical to the symptoms of a liver problem.

A zinc deficiency, like a liver problem, could increase the risk of:
• Loss of appetite
• Loss of body hair
• Altered taste
• Testicular atrophy
• Immune system impairment
• Decreased drug detox capacity
• Ascites
• Liver cancer
• Inflammation in the liver
• Skin problems

Does a zinc deficiency cause the liver to create these symptoms, or is it the liver damage that’s creating these symptoms as well as a zinc deficiency? This is hard to tell because the symptoms above could be created by both a zinc deficiency or a liver problem.

By getting more zinc through your diet or supplements, you could potentially reduce the above symptoms of a zinc deficiency or liver problem. You may even be able to prevent the symptoms, as well as protect the liver.

Foods rich in zinc:
• Shellfish
• Beef liver
• Beef, lamb, and other meats
• Seeds
• Nuts
• Dairy
• Eggs

There is zinc in whole wheat, but the problem is that the bran in wheat products prevents the absorption of zinc. To get zinc, you would want to avoid grains and sugar because sugar also depletes zinc. We don’t retain zinc very well, so if you’re not consuming zinc, you could be deficient.

In this short video, we’re going to talk about how to deal with heavy periods. This could be an estrogen dominance situation. If you take birth control pills or are on some type of estrogen, or you consume a lot of soy, you may want to find an alternative. These things could be contributing to too much estrogen.

4 key tips for heavy periods:
1. Avoid dairy
Dairy can increase estrogen.

2. Consume cruciferous vegetables
Cruciferous vegetables are anti-estrogenic. Consuming either a concentrated cruciferous vegetable product called DIM, or cruciferous vegetables themselves could help balance estrogen.

3. Take calcium D glucarate
This product may help detoxify the liver. In the liver, there are certain enzymes that are constantly balancing estrogen. Calcium D glucarate could help those enzymes work better and may help lower estrogen dominance.

4. Ovex (standard process)
This product called could help with heavy periods, and support the ovaries.

Find out the best remedy for cardiac arrhythmias!

1:00 A huge function of calcium
1:43 Minerals and arrhythmias
2:20 The best remedy for cardiac arrhythmias

3:50 Heart arrhythmia causes

Today we’re going to talk about one of the best remedies for cardiac arrhythmias. One of the big problems with a severe arrhythmia issue is that the blood can pool in different parts of the heart and create clotting, which could potentially lead to a stroke. Many times this issue is treated medically with beta-blockers, a calcium channel blocker, or digitalis. I want to tell you about an alternative to these but check with your doctor before discontinuing any medications.

It seems that with arrhythmias, calcium is leaking from the cardiac cells. Calcium is very necessary for the body. But, if there’s too much in the cell or outside of the cell, it can become toxic.

Calcium is a signaling molecule or a messenger type molecule that causes certain functions to occur in certain pathways. When you have arrhythmias, there could be a problem with calcium leaking from the cells as well as the signaling function.

Potassium and magnesium deficiencies could also cause arrhythmias. This is because both of these minerals help balance calcium and keep calcium from becoming too toxic inside the cell. If you have a severe arrhythmia, you could be deficient in both potassium and magnesium.

It can take months to fortify the body with the potassium and magnesium it needs. In the meantime, you can try what I believe is one of the best remedies for cardiac arrhythmias: D-ribose.

Benefits of D-ribose for arrhythmias:
• It improves cardiac muscle physiology.
• It’s recommended when you have cramps or soreness in the muscles after you exercise.
• It tends to bypass the damaged pathways in the heart and gets the myocardial cells to work.
• It can reduce angina.
• It can help reduce fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome.

Taking 5g of D-ribose 2-3 times a day may be beneficial.

Some people add D-ribose to their coffee because it may help reduce the palpitations they feel when they have caffeine.

 A few heart arrhythmia causes:
• Stress
• Low potassium and magnesium
• Caffeine
• Alcohol
• Exposure to EMF

What Makes Sugar Addictive

Sugar addiction is real. Here’s what makes sugar addictive.

Timestamps:
0:00 Sugar addiction
0:10 What causes sugar addiction?
2:04 How to overcome sugar addiction

In this video, we’re going to talk about what makes sugar addictive.

There are two mechanisms involved in sugar addiction:

1. When you consume comfort foods high in carbs or sugar, you increase insulin, which then decreases blood sugars. After that, certain sensory things from your blood to your brain are triggered, causing sugar cravings.

2. When you anticipate eating certain foods and then eat them, you get a release of dopamine. The more concentrated in sugar the food is, the more massive the release. Dopamine is connected to pleasure. Over time, the receptors for dopamine downgrade. They become more resistant to the point where it takes more and more carbohydrates to achieve the same pleasure. Then, one day you’re consuming a massive amount of carbohydrates, but you’re not getting the same pleasure you used to get. Now, you may be consuming carbs and sugar to handle a blood sugar issue temporarily. During all of this, it’s creating a massive amount of damage in different parts of the body.

3:55 Other important remedies for viruses

In this video, we’re going to talk about the antiviral effects of autophagy. Autophagy means “self-eat.” It’s a mechanism in the body that can break down things and recycle them. Autophagy is mainly known for breaking down damaged proteins in the body, but it also has unique antiviral effects.

Autophagy can deal with:
• Viruses
• Bacteria
• Fungus
• Candida
• Biofilms/nanobacteria

Autophagy works with both parts of the immune system as a defense mechanism to keep harmful microbes outside of the body. Certain viruses have evolved and can resist autophagy. In some cases, these viruses can get through, and this really depends on the strength of your immune system as well as other variables.

Other important remedies for viruses:
• Colloidal silver
• Elderberry
• Garlic
• Olive leaf
• Zinc

Butter vs Coconut Oil: Which One is Healthier?

Should you be using butter or coconut oil? Find out as we compare butter vs. coconut oil.

Timestamps:

1:27 Butter vs. coconut oil — MCT oil
2:02 Coconut oil and lauric acid
2:14 Butter and small-chain fatty acid butyrate
2:52 Butter and casein
3:14 Which is healthier?

Today we’re going to compare butter and coconut oil to find out which is healthier.

Butter vs. coconut oil:

Butter (grass-fed)
• Is good for cooking
• Has fat-soluble vitamins (vitamins A, E, D, and K2)
• Has 8% MCT oil (medium-chain triglycerides)
• Has small-chain fatty acid butyrate
• Has traces of casein

Coconut oil
• Is good for cooking
• Has zero fat-soluble vitamins
• Has 55% MCT oil (medium-chain triglycerides)
• Has lauric acid

Which is healthier, butter, or coconut oil?
I’m going to say that butter is more healthy. But, when you use butter for cooking, you will destroy all of the fat-soluble vitamins—especially under high-heat. For cooking, you could use either butter or coconut oil. But, if you’re putting it on your food, butter may be the healthier option.

Today I’m going to share with you the only food that will not break a fast. When you look at the actual definition of fasting, it’s basically the absence of food. You’re not eating anything.

One of the biggest benefits of doing a fast is autophagy. Autophagy breaks down things that shouldn’t be there, and it turns those things into building blocks to make new tissue. It’s very anti-aging and can be beneficial for a variety of conditions. Autophagy is very therapeutic, and one of the biggest triggers is fasting.

Plants that are rich in phytochemicals can actually enhance autophagy and not inhibit it. When you consume raw cruciferous vegetables, you’re triggering autophagy.

The autophagy benefits from both fasting and phytonutrients in cruciferous vegetables could help:
• Remove damaged proteins from the body
• Increase stress resistance
• Stabilize genes
• Extend your life

You may want to experiment with this. Try different cruciferous vegetables like broccoli sprouts, cauliflower, or kale during your fast and evaluate your results.

Why is your stomach growling? It’s not actually from hunger. Find out the real reason!

Timestamps:
0:00 Why is my stomach growling?
0:13 What causes stomach growling?
0:40 SIBO
1:50 How to stop stomach growling

Today we’re going to talk about what causes stomach growling? Is it from hunger, or what exactly is it?

You may have stomach sounds or stomach growling when you’re hungry, but hunger is not what’s causing it. Something called the migrating motor complex is what causes stomach growling. This is a certain housekeeping condition in your body where it’s cleaning out debris (extra food particles).

One really important function of the migrating motor complex is that it can prevent SIBO. SIBO is a condition where you have too much bacteria in your small intestine. The majority of bacteria should be in the large intestine. When bacteria get into the small intestine, you’ll start to be robbed of nutrients. You could also start to experience a lot of bloating from fermentation going on in your small intestine.

When you have SIBO, you can have a lot of stomach growling and stomach sounds going on because your body is trying to clean out the small intestine, and it can’t.

How to stop stomach growling:
• Eating (but if you have SIBO eating could increase bloating)
• Increase bile salts
• Decrease stress
• Fix SIBO (increase bile and take betaine hydrochloride)
• Do intermittent fasting

Today we’re going to talk about how certain herbs and spices can potentially counter aging.

Some herbs and spices have a unique anti-glycation effect. Glycation is a word used to describe a situation where you have glucose combining with a protein, or glucose combining with fat, in a certain way that makes that protein or fat unavailable.

This dysfunctional protein or fat could create problems in the body. These are advanced glycation end products. There are several concepts out there that talk about aging being the accumulation of advanced glycation end products.

There are several potent spices and herbs that are strong inhibitors of advanced glycation end products. But, if your diet is not right, these herbs won’t help. The healthy keto diet, exercise, and fasting are all strong inhibitors of advanced glycation end products.

Spices and herbs for anti-aging:
1. Anise
2. Cinnamon
3. Allspice
4. Clove
5. Oregano (very effective)

The OTHER Cause of Sciatica Pain

There is another cause of sciatica pain that you may have never heard of before. Check this out.

Sciatica:

0:10 The first cause of sciatica nerve pain
0:23 The second cause of sciatic pain
1:20 Omega 6 fatty acids
2:28 Sciatic nerve pain relief

Today we’re going to talk about the sciatic nerve and why you might have sciatic nerve pain. Sciatic nerve pain is pain down the back of the leg, and it can go all the way down into the foot.

There are two main reasons why you could have sciatica pain:

1. A structural problem
Where the low back curve is not there.

2. An internal problem
There is something happening with the nerve itself.

The internal cause of sciatic pain has to do with an imbalance of omega 6 to omega 3 fatty acids. Omega 3 fatty acids have anti-inflammatory properties, and omega 6 fatty acids are more inflammatory. We need both of these fats, but we need them in the right ratios.

An imbalance of these fatty acids can:
1. Create a lot of inflammation and nerve pain.
2. Affect the lipids around the nerves.
3. Affect the sciatic nerve (the biggest nerve)
