Let’s talk about ulcerative colitis. This is a condition where there is inflammation in the colon and rectum, along with ulcers and bleeding. Ulcerative colitis is an autoimmune condition, which means that your own immune system is creating constant inflammation and irritation to the colon.

Many people are only offered two solutions, which are surgery or steroids. But, what about natural relief from ulcerative colitis?

Potential natural remedies for ulcerative colitis:
1. Fasting (decreases inflammation, increases the diversity of the microbiome, and increases small-chain fatty acids)

2. Zinc (is necessary for ulcers)

3. Vitamin D in higher amounts (is an immune modulator)

4. Cabbage juice (has certain phytonutrients known to help ulcers and any type of damage in the colon)

5. VSL#3 (a very powerful probiotic for ulcerative colitis and inflammatory conditions)

6. Wheatgrass juice powder (may help with any type of lesions, inflammation, and ulcers on the internal part of the skin)

High Cortisol Occurs During and After Surgery

Why do you experience a cortisol spike after surgery? Take a look.

Timestamps

1:49 Cortisol, potassium, glucose, and sodium
2:19 Side effects of cortisol after surgery
3:24 What should you do for high cortisol after surgery?
4:56 Key takeaways

In this video, we’re going to talk about cortisol spikes after surgery.

Now, it would make sense if stress didn’t go up too much because of anesthesia—you can’t feel pain while under. However, this isn’t the case.

Your body still feels and reacts to pain while under. In turn, your body reacts to it with cortisol—the stress hormone.

How much cortisol spikes correlate with the severity of an invasive procedure.

Surgery activates both the inside and outside of the adrenals. This causes an increase in both cortisol and adrenaline.

When your cortisol is raised, you may also lose potassium. This is why they often give you a potassium IV.

You can also experience fluctuations in glucose levels and retain more sodium.

In general, there are a lot of post-operative effects that go on, including:
• Temporary memory loss
• Decreased learning
• Inflammation
• Decreased immune function
• Increased catabolic effect
• Decreased wound healing
• Autoimmune issues – Guillain Barre Syndrome
• Depression
• Anxiety
• Low electrolytes

If you are coming up on surgery and want to minimize your cortisol and adrenal response, you can do intermittent fasting and then fast a day before you go into surgery. This will help strengthen your adrenals and give you some resistance to stress. It will increase your ability to resist oxidative stress.

You can also do healthy keto. Ketones are anti-inflammatory, which may help with symptoms.

It’s important to get plenty of electrolytes both before and after surgery because of the stress response and depleting potassium.

In this video, I want to tell you about a potential alternative protocol for steroids. The side effects of things like prednisone, cortisone, steroids, anti-inflammatories, or anything related to the synthetic form of cortisol can have a lot of side effects.

Many people have inflammatory conditions. When a person takes a synthetic form of cortisol, over time, it can work less and less to the point where it doesn’t work anymore.

Cortisol is made by your adrenal cortex. Cortisol is the natural anti-inflammatory in the body. It suppresses the immune system.

To make cortisol, you need the cofactor vitamin B5, and vitamin C. Vitamin D can also help cortisol work better. If you have cortisol resistance, vitamin D may help reset that.

A natural potential steroid protocol for a severe inflammatory reaction:
1. Vitamin B5 — 500mg
2. Vitamin C (buffered and non-GMO) — 1000mg
3. Vitamin D3 — 10,000 IUs

A. You may want to take this combination every 15 minutes for 2 hours.
B. Then, take this combination every 2 hours for the rest of the day.
C. After that, if needed, take the protocol twice a day.

This protocol is meant to help naturally calm things down as you do things to correct the situation like getting on the keto and intermittent fasting plan.

Your body makes inositol, and it’s most abundant in your brain. It’s actually a sugar alcohol made from glucose. It can help with insulin resistance, blood sugars, and even to curb cravings. In large doses (2000mg twice per day) with a little bit of folate, inositol may help with conditions like ADD, OCD, depression, and problems with binge eating.

The type of inositol you may want to take is called Myo-inositol.

5 benefits of inositol:
1. It can act as a natural anti-depressant, and it may have anti-anxiety effects
2. It’s similar to metformin and may help with PCOS
3. It can help restore the FSH and LH ratios and may help with the menstrual cycle and fertility

3:36 Need keto consulting?

In this video, we’re going to talk about irritable male syndrome and low testosterone.

First, let’s talk about an interesting study. In this study, 32 men at the average age of 59 did fasting and dieting for three months. After the three months, they experienced:
• Decreased tension
• Less anger
• Decreased confusion
• Increased vigor
• More daytime concentration

This is not to mention all of the other benefits, like weight loss and a healthier body.

PEDS (partial endocrine deficiency syndrome) is a situation that occurs in men as they age. This is when the endocrine system begins to fall apart, and hormone imbalanced takes place.

There are two primary hormones that are involved: testosterone and cortisol. This results in an increase in cortisol and a decrease in testosterone levels.

Testosterone and cortisol compete—when one raises, the other one lowers.

Some men do testosterone replacement therapy. Although this can help with short-term issues, you can develop gonad atrophy, which makes hormone issues worse over the long-term.

To avoid these issues and increase your mood, you can:
1. Do intermittent fasting
2. Take zinc
3. Take L-arginine
4. Exercise
5. Healthy keto

3:08 Need a keto consultant?

In this video, I want to talk about an interesting reason why you might be deficient in vitamin C.

These are four main reasons why you might be deficient in vitamin C. #4 is an interesting cause that I haven’t yet talked about. Take a look.

1. Diet – Not getting enough healthy foods packed full of vitamin C.

2. Sugar – consuming too much sugar will block your ability to absorb vitamin C.

3. Insulin resistance – Many people have insulin resistance, which doesn’t allow your body to pull in vitamin C.

4. Pollution – Living in a city with a lot of pollution will decrease the amount of vitamin C in your body. This has to do with vitamin C’s antioxidant powers. Vitamin C works as an antioxidant for your lungs. A large amount of it is used when you expose your lungs to oxidants, such as pollution.

Smokers also deal with low vitamin C due to exposing their lungs to harsh smoke throughout the day. Smokers require a lot more vitamin C to stay healthy.

A vitamin C deficiency can cause decreased…
• Antibodies
• Neutrophils
• B cells
• T cells
• Interferon

Areas with high amounts of pollution also have the highest rates of deaths due to lower respiratory disease.

If you live in one of these pollution-rich areas, make sure you get plenty of vitamin C to help offset the harmful effects on your body.

In this video, I’m going to answer the question: why did keto raise my blood pressure? This is a question I recently got from a viewer, so I wanted to make a quick video on this topic.

First, it’s important to understand that you have this stuff called glycogen. This is stored glucose or sugar. Glycogen needs potassium. For every molecule of glucose, you need one molecule of potassium. One molecule of glucose also retains 3-3.5 molecules of water.

It helps to think of glycogen as a sponge—it soaks up and holds a lot of water.

Glycogen is stored in your liver and muscles.

When you do keto and intermittent fasting, you deplete the glycogen in your liver. You’re left with only the glycogen in your muscle. In turn, the glycogen you burn also gets rid of the water and potassium it retains. This may cause dehydration and low electrolytes/potassium.

One of the primary causes of hypertension is low potassium.

Not only do you lose a lot of potassium while adapting to keto, but also your requirement goes way up. Additionally, many people are already low on potassium, which makes matters worse.

The best remedy for this issue is to do the healthy version of keto. How? There are two things:

1. Get around 1,000 mg of potassium
2. Consume 7-10 cups of vegetables per day

This will help support weight loss and also promote a healthy body and blood pressure level.

Should You Do Juicing on Keto or While Fasting?

6:00 Bile salts and cravings
6:40 Need keto consulting?

In this video, I’m going to answer the question, can you do juicing while on a keto and intermittent fasting plan?

In general, I do not think that juicing is the best idea on keto or while fasting—unless you’re doing a juice powder. Why? Because many vegetable juices can contain more carbs than you would expect. In turn, this can low down ketosis and weight loss.

When calculating the carbs in a vegetable, you want to subtract the fiber from the total carbs, which will give you the net carbs. Juicing removes the fiber from the vegetables, which means you can no longer subtract it from the total carbs. One cup of juice will have more net carbs than one cup of whole vegetable because of the fiber content.

Additionally, juicing can remove a lot of the phytonutrients in vegetables. Phytonutrients have powerful health benefits.

If you find it difficult not to have juice because of cravings, try using inositol. This is a form of natural sugar alcohol (known as vitamin B8) that helps with insulin resistance. If you can repair insulin resistance, you will have a much easier time fighting off cravings.

Bile salts can also help reduce cravings. Bile helps you break down and absorb healthy fats that keep you feeling satisfied after eating.

Why Red Spots on My Skin?

3:29 Sources of vitamin K1 and vitamin C
4:17 Need keto consulting?

In this video, we’re going to talk about why you may have red spots on your skin.

Low levels of vitamin K1 can cause poor blood clotting. In turn, you may have red, pink, or purple spots. If you have low vitamin C, then you may have impaired capillary strength, which can cause red or purple spots.

In nature, vitamin K1 and vitamin C tend to come from the same sources. You want to consume plenty of vegetables to get both of these powerful nutrients.

Your gut makes vitamin K1. So if you have poor gut health, this could be a reason why your K1 levels are low.

Though it’s very rare, low calcium can cause red spots on your skin. Another cause of red spots is a viral infection.

There are two primary underlying causes of having red spots on your skin:

1. Diet – You need to consume healthy nutrients to get all of your vitamins. It is especially important that you have 7-10 cups of vegetables per day.

2. Malabsorption – If you can’t absorb your nutrients, you can develop deficiencies even if you consume the right foods. Probiotics and bile salts may help improve digestion and absorption.

The best sources of vitamin K1 are:
• Kale
• Spinach
• Collard greens
• Dark leafy greens

The best sources of vitamin C are:
• Sauerkraut
• Bell pepper
• Berries
• Lemon

See if these tips help improve red spots on your skin.

In this video, we’re going to talk about the tapeworm diet. I’ve seen ads for this diet, with claims like “get rid of life-threatening fat without exercise, dieting, or surgery.” Is this true?

This is not a new diet. But many are still curious about how it works. Let’s take a look at the pros and cons.

Pros:
• Eat whatever you want
• No dieting
• No depriving of food
• Tapeworm eats the extra calories

Cons:
• May not lose weight until you remove it
• Increases appetite, especially for carbs
• Tapeworm diet is a tapeworm infection
• Removing it has side effects, including brain swelling
• Can’t control where it attaches
• Side effects, including pain, diarrhea, and fever

Overall, tapeworms are a very bad idea. You essentially infect your body with a parasite that sucks away important nutrients.

Removing the parasite is a whole other issue. You can do it surgically or with medication. The medication also has some serious side effects, including neurological issues.

Will a Liver Cleanse Help Cirrhosis and a Fatty Liver

Should you do a liver cleanse for serious liver problems? Here’s what you need to know!

Timestamps
0:00 Will a liver cleanse help cirrhosis or a fatty liver?
0:38 Arginase and detoxification
2:33 Liver cleanses and liver health

In this video, we’re going to talk about the question, will a liver cleanse help cirrhosis or a fatty liver?

Cirrhosis is an advanced situation—your risk for cancer goes way up.

First, let’s start by talking about an enzyme called arginase. Arginase is involved in the urea cycle. When you break down amino acids, the extra amount of it passes through as waste.

Arginase makes sure there’s a complete break down so this waste can exit the body without causing toxicity. Without arginase, you have an incomplete breakdown of arginine. In turn, you get higher amounts of ammonia in the blood.

Ammonia is not good for your brain and other tissues. It can cause a lot of very bad side effects—like coma, dementia, seizures, and tremors.

Fat in the liver can cause inflammation, scar tissue, and fatty liver.

Will a liver cleanse help these issues?

Unfortunately, a liver cleanse will hardly even touch these problems. Instead, it could even stir up more problems and make symptoms worse.

Instead, there are 7 things you can do to promote a healthy liver…
1. Keto – a cleaner fuel source
2. Fasting – reduces inflammation
3. Reduce protein – less than 3oz a meal to reduce stress on the liver
4. Plenty of L-arginine manganese – helps reduce ammonia
5. Increase vegetables – 7-10 cups a day
6. Tocotrienol – this is a powerful antioxidant-rich form of vitamin E
7. Probiotics – these can help reduce ammonia in the body

In this video, we’re going to talk about the influence of vitamin D over your muscles.

Vitamin D could help those with osteoporosis decrease their risk of getting a fracture. It could also decrease the risk of falling.

The first symptom of vitamin D deficiency is typically low back pain. You might also have bone pain or difficulty getting up from a seated position. There is a huge influence of vitamin D controlling neuromuscular function.

Every muscle cell (myocyte) has a receptor for vitamin D (VDR).

Vitamin D and muscular function:
1. It can help muscle strength
2. It can help stabilize posture
3. Your quads, glutes, and iliopsoas are all influenced by vitamin D
4. It can greatly affect your physical performance
5. A vitamin D deficiency can cause a sway of the body when walking (like a waddle)
6. The speed or the contractibility of the muscles is influenced by vitamin D

In this video, we’re going to talk about COPD or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is also often called emphysema.

Symptoms of COPD can include:
• Shortness of breath
• Coughing
• Mucus

COPD is a chronic condition that often leads to pulmonary hypertension. This is when the blood pressure in your lungs increases, which causes a lot of stress on the right ventricle of your heart. This will eventually weaken the heart and cause edema.

You have little pouches called alveoli in your lung tissue. When you have COPD, these pouches become deformed as a result of inflammation and irritation from smoke or some other chronic inflammatory substance. Alveoli exchanges CO2 for oxygen in the blood.

While the lungs try to heal, your body creates scar tissue in your lungs, also known as fibrosis. As this scarring builds up, you lose your ability to exchange CO2 and oxygen, which is why you have difficulty breathing.

What can you do for COPD? Here’s what research shows:
1. Get plenty of tocotrienols (300 mg)
2. Boost your vitamin D (40,000 IUs)
3. Fasting
4. Keto
5. Vitamin C
6. Osha root
7. Mormon tea
8. Vitamin B1
9. Stop smoking – smoke and nicotine are big problems when it comes to COPD

In this video, we’re going to talk about a question I get a lot from my viewers, can you reverse diabetes? The answer is: it depends.

We’re primarily talking about type 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune problem. Type 2 diabetes is a problem that has to do with epigenetics. If you understand this, you may be able to do something about type 2 diabetes.

Epigenetics means “above genetics.” This is all about lifestyle choices, like diet, exercise, and stress. You can control and keep your genes from expressing certain diseases with epigenetics.

Most people don’t focus on the key thing that’s causing T2 diabetes—carbs. You have to lower your carbs to support healthy and normal blood sugar levels.

Lowering your carbs also lowers your insulin, which lowers your insulin resistance.

There are 7 main things that cause insulin resistance:
1. Sugars (especially refined)
2. High carbs
3. High-fructose corn syrup
4. Vegetable oils
5. Starches
6. Medications
7. Stress

You should always attack type 2 diabetes at its core by focusing on these seven things.

In this video, we’re going to talk about the three best remedies for psoriasis. If you have psoriasis, then you don’t want to miss out on this video—I put a lot of research and energy into this topic to summarize it for you.

The word Psoriasis comes from two Greek words: psora (itchy) and iasis (action/condition).

Psoriasis is an autoimmune condition—this is where your body creates antibodies that attack your own healthy tissue. With psoriasis, certain areas of your skin are replaced every 3-5 days instead of 28-30 days. This accelerated production of skin cells is what causes the redness, scaliness, and flakiness with psoriasis.

What’s really happening behind the curtain is a T-cell dysfunction—in particular, the TH17 cell. T-cells are part of the acquired immune system. This means you aren’t born with it, but instead, you acquire it over time.

This dysfunction of TH17 cells is typically triggered by an altered microbiome.

When these cells dysfunction, they induce a massive amount of inflammation and autoimmunity. Additionally, they release cytokines, which can also be inflammatory. At the same time, T-reg cells are suppressed.

TH17 is directly linked to vitamin D. This is why the first remedy for psoriasis is vitamin D. Take a look:

1. Vitamin D – Vitamin D helps regulate T-cells. Vitamin D acts as a hormone in the body. In particular, it acts like cortisol, which is one of the primary treatments for psoriasis. This is why psoriasis cases skyrocket in the winter—most people get less vitamin D.

2. Cod liver oil – Cod liver oil not only contains vitamin D and vitamin A, but it also has omega-3 fatty acids. Low levels of omega-3s are known to cause dry, scaly, and red skin. Omega-3 is a powerful anti-inflammatory.

3. Bile salts – Bile salts stimulate vitamin D receptors. This means that it allows vitamin D to work much better in the body.

It’s also a good idea to go on an intermittent fasting plan and avoid all gluten.

Give these tips a try and let me know how they work for you in the comments below.

1:20 Copper toxicity symptoms
1:54 What can you do?

In this video, we’re going to talk about birth control and copper overload. When you’re on birth control pills, or you have a copper IUD, this can create a lot of problems. When you increase copper, you severely decrease zinc, and you create an imbalance. Estrogen increases copper in the body.

Copper:
• Can immobilize sperm
• Is antimicrobial
• Can decrease zinc
• Can decrease vitamin C
• Can decrease iron
• Can increase estrogen
• Impacts the vaginal microbiome (the bacteria that regulate estrogen)

High levels of copper can also stop the liver from removing excess amounts of estrogen.

Symptoms of copper toxicity:
• Hyperactivity
• ADHD
• Autism
• Skin sensitivity
• Inhibited learning
• White spots on the nails
• Anger or irritability
• Ringing in the ears
• Sensitivity to shellfish

What you could do:
• Find a safer birth control method
• Take DIM
• Take prebiotics and probiotics (sauerkraut, kimchi, or ferments pickles)
•  Calcium-D-glucarate
• Take zinc
