Here’s what you need to know about birth control and copper overload.

Timestamps
0:00 Birth control and copper overload
0:10 What happens when you increase copper
0:30 What copper does in the body
1:20 Copper toxicity symptoms
1:54 What can you do?

In this video, we’re going to talk about birth control and copper overload. When you’re on birth control pills, or you have a copper IUD, this can create a lot of problems. When you increase copper, you severely decrease zinc, and you create an imbalance. Estrogen increases copper in the body.

Copper:
• Can immobilize sperm
• Is antimicrobial
• Can decrease zinc
• Can decrease vitamin C
• Can decrease iron
• Can increase estrogen
• Impacts the vaginal microbiome (the bacteria that regulate estrogen)

High levels of copper can also stop the liver from removing excess amounts of estrogen.

Symptoms of copper toxicity:
• Hyperactivity
• ADHD
• Autism
• Skin sensitivity
• Inhibited learning
• White spots on the nails
• Anger or irritability
• Ringing in the ears
• Sensitivity to shellfish

What you could do:
• Find a safer birth control method
• Take DIM
• Take prebiotics and probiotics (sauerkraut, kimchi, or ferments pickles)
•  Calcium-D-glucarate
• Take zinc

Zinc Ability to Lower Cortisol

If you’re trying to lower your cortisol, don’t forget about zinc!

Timestamps
0:00 Zinc and cortisol
0:07 Zinc could help lower cortisol
0:32 Zinc and GABA
0:42 Zinc and copper
1:05 Hidden infections and zinc
1:50 Foods rich in zinc

Today we’re going to talk about the influence of zinc over cortisol. Zinc is a trace mineral that has a huge influence over the HPA axis. The HPA axis is basically a feedback loop going through the hypothalamus, pituitary, and adrenal glands. Zinc supports this whole pathway. When you take zinc, it could actually help lower cortisol. Zinc also increases GABA, which is very calming.

When you’re low in zinc, you’re going to be a little bit higher in copper because they work together. But, lower zinc and higher copper is not good.

This situation could create copper toxicity, which could cause:
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Higher cortisol
• Your body to go into stress mode

If you have a hidden infection combined with stress and inflammation, this situation could deplete your zinc and raise your cortisol.

A few good sources of zinc:
• Shellfish
• Pumpkin seeds
• Brazil nuts

If you have a stress issue or you can’t sleep, and you’re trying to do everything you can to fix the issue, you may also want to include zinc.

The Most Difficult Foods to Give Up

I want to know which food is the most difficult for you to give up on keto—and I’ll give you a few keto tips to help too!

Timestamps
0:00 What is the food that’s the hardest to give up on keto?
0:30 The goal of keto
0:40 The problem with going off the keto program
1:50 A few keto tips

I really want to know what food is the hardest for you to give up on keto. Was it the pasta, bread, chips, popcorn, sugar desserts, rice, or potatoes? Or maybe it was something else? Comment below what the hardest food was for you to give up on keto. I really want to know!

The goal of keto is to put you in such a healthy state that occasionally going off the program will not create a big problem.

The problem with going off of the keto program is that the next day your blood sugars are off, and you’re going to want to go off more and more. It can be a slippery slope.

The other problem is that when you consume carbohydrates, you’re going to activate dopamine. Dopamine is part of the addictive circuitry that you have in your brain. Overall, healthy keto and intermittent fasting is your best option for handling the physical addictions to certain foods, especially carbs. Keto can handle your hunger and cravings, but it doesn’t handle the mental habits you might have regarding food.

A few keto tips:
1. Find substitutes for the foods you like that you can’t have on keto
2. Do keto consistently for as long as you can and work on trying to improve your self-control
3. Consume foods high in nutrients (do healthy keto versus dirty keto)
4. Take certain supplements when you’re doing keto and fasting (B vitamins, electrolytes, etc.)
5. Take bile salts

Should type-1 diabetics fast? Here’s what you need to know.

Timestamps

1:58 What is double diabetes?
2:41 Take nutrients while you fast

In this video, I’m going to answer another question from one of my viewers: can type-1 diabetics do prolonged fasting?

The focus of type-1 diabetics is to keep their glucose level under control. This is important. However, it’s also important to keep an eye on your level of insulin.

The number of carbs you eat determines the amount of insulin you need. So if you consume lots of carbs, you have to use a lot of insulin.

Insulin takes excess glucose and starts to store it throughout the body.

Taking too much insulin is just as bad as having too much glucose. Fasting will help lower the amount of insulin that you need.

Many type-1 diabetics have something called double diabetes. This is a situation where your pancreas isn’t able to produce insulin (type-1), and your cells are also resistant to insulin (type-2). This means that taking insulin doesn’t always work—your insulin receptors don’t absorb the insulin you inject.

Doing fasting and healthy keto helps prevent insulin resistance.

While you fast, it’s important to also take nutrients, including:
• Electrolytes
• B-vitamins
• Trace minerals
• Vitamin C
• Vitamin E

0:13 What type of garlic for sleep apnea?
0:32 How garlic can benefit your sleep quality

In this video, I’m going to talk about the benefits of garlic for sleep apnea.

Taking/eating garlic before bed is great for sleep apnea. Garlic in a pill form is a good idea, so you don’t experience indigestion.

Here are 7 reasons why garlic can benefit your sleep.

1. Garlic helps regular your blood pressure. By taking garlic, you can help lower high blood pressure levels. In turn, this may help you sleep much better.

2. Garlic is a natural analgesic. Analgesics are things that help relieve pain.

3. Garlic is naturally anti-fungal. Fungi can live in your sinuses, causing irritation and inflammation. In turn, this restricts your ability to breathe. Consuming garlic may help fight off inflammation-causing fungi.

4. Garlic can help your lungs. If you have difficulty breathing, taking garlic may help support healthy breathing.

5. Garlic is a natural anti-microbial. This means it can help fight off bacteria and other microbes that cause inflammation in your lungs and sinuses. Inflammation can restrict your breathing, which may contribute to sleep apnea.

6. Fewer microbes also means less cortisol. Cortisol—also known as the “stress hormone”—is not good for quality sleep.

7. Garlic helps improve your circulation. In turn, this promotes a relaxed state, which is better for sleep.

Can I Add Honey to the Apple Cider Vinegar Drink?

Some people add honey to their apple cider vinegar drink. Is that a good idea? Find out.

Timestamps
0:00 Apple cider vinegar and honey
0:10 The problem with honey
0:25 Glucose and fructose
0:53 Honey vs. sugar

Can you add honey to an apple cider vinegar drink on the keto diet? About 56% of honey is fructose, and 44% of it is glucose. Honey has a glycemic index of 78, which is high.

The problem with fructose is that only the cells in the liver can deal with it. So, fructose puts a lot of stress on the liver and can create a lot of problems.

If you had to choose between honey ad sugar, honey might be the better option because it has some antioxidants and some antimicrobial properties. It may also help with certain allergies. But, overall, honey is low in actual nutrients. It may be better than refined sugar, but not by much.

So, is it a good idea to mix honey and apple cider vinegar? No.

In this video, we’re going to talk about the benefits of sea kelp that go beyond the thyroid. Sea kelp is high in iodine, and it’s great for the thyroid. This is an antioxidant that:

• Is antiviral
• Has neuroprotective properties
• Has immune-modulating effects

2. It’s rich in trace minerals as well as other minerals
3. It’s rich in amino acids
4. It’s rich in B vitamins

In this video, we’re going to talk about how much weight you can lose while fasting. We’re talking about intermittent fasting alone, not with keto. Someone doing a health keto diet alone can lose around 2 lbs of fat per week if they have a healthy metabolism. But what about fasting?

It is possible to lose 1/2 (.227 kg) lb per day while fasting. That’s 3.5 lbs (1.58 kg) per week.

Keep in mind that these are in a best-case-scenario. You’re not going to lose more than this amount.

If you’re just starting out, you might lose 7-15 lbs in the first week. This is mostly going to be water weight. Water stored in glycogen will release, which will cause you to get rid of a lot of water at first. There are 3-3.8 grams of water per gram of stored glucose (glycogen).

Glycogen is like a fluid-filled sponge. When you fast, you use up the glycogen in your liver fairly quickly, which dumps a lot of water.

There are many factors that play into how much weight you will lose while fasting, including:
• Age
• Activity level
• Gender
• Metabolism
• Overall health
• Diet
• Stress level

In this video, we’re going to talk about breastfeeding and some of the incredible benefits of breast milk. In fact, the future health of your child could rely on the mother’s nutrition and the quality of her breast milk.

If a mother is getting enough nutrients, the baby should gain 500-1,000 grams each month.

These are some of the many amazing benefits of breast milk:

1. Increased life span of infants – Breastfeeding reduces the risk of SIDS.

2. Increased immune function – Colostrum is an incredible immune-creating substance. The strength of your child’s immune system relies on it.

3. Decreased risk of GI infection

4. Decreased risk of allergies

5. Decreased risk of death due to diarrhea – Non-breast fed infants are 14x more likely to die of diarrhea.

6. Decreased risk of respiratory infection – Non-breast fed infants are 3x more likely to die of a respiratory infection.

7. Decreased risk of overall deadly infection – Non-breast fed infants are 2x more likely to die of infections overall.

If you are capable of breastfeeding, I hope these benefits inspire you to choose it over formula. Your child will gain so many benefits.

What a mother consumes before, during, and after pregnancy is vitally important.

Prolonged Fasting and IGF-1

In this video, we’re going to talk about prolonged fasting and IGF-1. IGF-1 stands for insulin-like growth factor 1. This is a hormone that is made in the liver. This hormone is stimulated by growth hormone, and it acts like growth hormone in the body.

Growth hormone is made by the pituitary gland—it is transported to the liver, where it triggers IGF.

IGF-1 is vital to the growth and development of tissue in the body—just like growth hormone.

If you do prolonged fasting, insulin goes down, and IGF-1 increases to immobilize fat to be used as fuel.

Interestingly, some research shows a correlation between high IGF-1 and increased risk of cancer. IGF-1 is not the sole cause of cancer—it’s only involved in cancer in the way that it helps things grow. It also inhibits apoptosis (programmed cell death), which is an important function in cancer prevention.

Fasting for 3-5 days causes a 30% decrease in IGF-1. This increases the immune system, decreases inflammation, and boosts neuroregeneration.

Fasting for longer than 5 days lowers IGF-1 by 60%, which helps reduce the risk of cancer, diabetes, and overall mortality.

Prolonged fasting is not harmful or dangerous if you do it correctly. In fact, it can help increase your health and improve the survival of your cells.
