What should your saliva pH level be? Here’s what you need to know.

In this video, we’re going to talk about the pH of saliva—should it be acidic or alkaline?

The normal pH range of saliva is between 6.2 and 7.6. A pH level of 7 is neutral. Anything above 7 is on the alkaline side, and anything below 7 is on the acidic side.

This means that your saliva is slightly acidic or slightly alkaline—it’s near the neutral mark.

If your saliva is too alkaline, you may develop tartar. If your saliva is too acidic, you can develop cavities and infections.

Bacteria in your mouth can use sugar to create acids. On a keto diet, you may be more acidic. However, on a healthy keto diet, you won’t run into problems because you’re consuming 7-10 cups of vegetables a day. This helps provide a lot of alkalinities to balance out the acidity.

Candida can cause ammonia to build up in your mouth. Ammonia is alkaline. Chronic stress can also cause you to become very alkaline.

Being highly alkaline isn’t always a good thing—it depends on the fluid in your body. For instance, stomach acid should be very acidic.

The key to normal pH levels is to be on a healthy diet. Focus on a healthy keto diet, and your pH levels will normalize.

Healthy Ketogenic Diet and Intermittent Fasting:

Check out this protocol for calcified plaque in your arteries.

Timestamps
0:00 Calcification in the arteries
0:47 What you could do for calcification in the arteries

Today I want to share a protocol to potentially help undo calcification in the arteries.

What you could do for calcification in the arteries:
1. Allicin
This is a phytonutrient in garlic. There is some interesting research on the association of allicin and decreased artery calcification in animals.

2. Butyrate
This is a compound that the microbes in the gut make when you feed them fiber (vegetable fiber). It’s a type of fat, a small-chain fatty acid. Butyrate has been associated with a decreased risk of artery disease.

3. Lycopene
This is a phytonutrient in certain vegetables. There is some interesting data showing how lycopene can decrease the thickness of the wall of the arteries and decrease the stiffness.

4. Omega-3 fatty acids
You can find this in cod liver oil or fish oils. Omega-3 fatty acids may help decrease inflammation.

5. GLA (gamma-linolenic acid)
This is a type of omega-6 fatty acid that is actually friendly to your arteries. A few examples would be borage oil, black currant seed oil, and evening primrose oil. GLA may help decrease inflammation, decrease the thickness of the arteries, and decrease plaque formation in the arteries.

6. Vitamin K2 (MK-7 version)
You may want to consider consuming 300mcg of vitamin K2 every day. Vitamin K2 can activate a certain protein that inhibits calcium from forming in the arteries.

7. Tocotrienols
This is one form of the vitamin E complex. Tocotrienols can greatly decrease inflammation in the arteries.

8. Decrease insulin resistance
Do whatever you can to decrease and reverse insulin resistance. There is a direct relationship between having insulin resistance and having calcification in the arteries. A lot of these other remedies may not work unless you also fix insulin resistance. You can help fix insulin resistance by doing the healthy keto diet and intermittent fasting.

The most important combination:
• Address insulin resistance
• Tocotrienols
• Vitamin K2
• Allicin
• Omega-3 fatty acids

Secondary:
• Butyrate
• Lycopene
• GLA

Can vaccines trigger autoimmune conditions? Here’s what you need to know.

0:53 What is ASIA?
2:18 Side effects of vaccines
6:09 Molecular mimicry
7:49 Aluminum adjuvants
9:29 Need keto consulting?

In this video, we’re going to talk about ASIA. ASIA is an autoimmune/inflammatory syndrome induced by adjuvants. What does this mean? We’ll ASIA is essentially when a vaccine triggers an autoimmune situation.

This information comes straight from a textbook called Vaccines and Autoimmunity. This book is written using decades of experience in vaccinology, immunology, and autoimmunity.

Aluminum hydroxide is one of the adjuvants found in vaccines—in fact, it’s the only approved adjuvant in the United States. This word “adjuvant” means to help—or to make the immune response strong. Macrophages actually eat the aluminum, carry it through the lymphatic system across the blood-brain barrier, where the aluminum gets stuck.

In Vaccines and Autoimmunity, the author talks about how vaccines can cause autoimmunity in susceptible individuals. For instance, the vaccine for Lyme disease is capable of triggering arthritis in animal studies.

Many of these effects can be delayed up to 10 months or even longer.

In susceptible people, vaccines can even trigger possibly fatal autoimmune conditions.

Without being screened, children receive around 19 vaccines during infancy. This could be a huge problem when it comes to autoimmunity.

The toxicity from these types of metals accumulate over time, and the reactions are often delayed between weeks up to years.

How to lower aluminum toxicity:
1. Silica
2. Taurine
3. Vitamin E (tocotrienals)
4. Selenium
5. Acetylcarnitine

0:58 The other problem with cassava

Can you have cassava chips on keto? Cassava is very high in carbohydrates. It’s also very high on the glycemic index. Cassava is a starch—it’s a root vegetable. Cassava is also used to make tapioca. Tapioca is not keto-friendly. Another name for cassava is yuca. Cassava or yuca is not keto-friendly.

Cassava also contains very small amounts of vitamin B1 (thiamine). This is a problem because anytime you have something with a lot of carbs and low vitamin B1, you can create a vitamin B1 deficiency. This happens because it takes vitamin B1 to metabolize carbs.

The gallbladder is very important. It helps you store and concentrate bile salts. Your liver and friendly bacteria also make bile. About 95-97% of all the bile the body makes is actually recycled.

Typically, when people take bile salts as a supplement, they take them with a meal or just after they eat. Bile salts can help with bloating, belching, burping, and nausea. The primary function of bile salts that most people know of is the extraction of fat-soluble vitamins from the fat in your diet. However, there are many other benefits of purified bile salts. There are also benefits of taking them on an empty stomach.

For the benefits of bile salts below, I believe it may be best to take them on an empty stomach. I would take one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

9 potential benefits of purified bile salts:
1. Bile salts can help decrease the risk of gallstones
2. Bile salts can help you extract fat-soluble vitamins (A, E, D, and K) and omega-3 fatty acids
3. Bile salts can help with constipation
4. Bile salts can help you convert thyroid hormones
5. Bile salts can act as a VDR agonist
6. Bile salts can help decrease pain
7. Bile salts can help reduce the risk of SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth)
8. Bile salts can help reduce liver inflammation
9. Biles salts can help reduce the toxic load and help regulate excess cholesterol

Timestamps
0:00 Is the niacin flush dangerous?
0:12 What is a niacin flush?
0:28 What are prostaglandins?
1:10 What you need to know about niacin

Today we’re going to talk about the niacin flush and if it’s dangerous or not. The answer is no. I do not believe the niacin flush is harmful or dangerous.

With a niacin flush, you’re getting massive relaxation of the muscles inside your blood vessels (vasodilation). This occurs because niacin releases something called prostaglandins.

Prostaglandins are lipids or fat compounds that have a hormone effect. Prostaglandins increase vasodilation, help reduce blood pressure, and help blood clotting. Prostaglandins are also involved in headaches and fevers.

Niacin has been used therapeutically for over 50 years, and it is the most effective natural agent for increasing your HDL (the good cholesterol). It can also decrease LDL (the damaging LDL) and triglycerides. The keto diet and intermittent fasting may also help with a person’s cholesterol.

A person concerned about their cholesterol may need to take niacin in higher amounts (1000-2000mg per day). Keep in mind the type of niacin that is non-flushing doesn’t have cholesterol-lowering benefits. Niacin may also potentially help reduce schizophrenia.

Today we’re going to talk about short-term memory loss. The symptom of memory loss has to do with the hippocampus.

A few things that can damage the hippocampus:
• Age
• Decreased oxygen
• Stress
• High glucose
• Vitamin B1 deficiency
• Vitamin D deficiency
• Zinc deficiency

The hippocampus is one of the only areas of the brain that can actually regenerate. But, you’re not going to be able to regenerate the hippocampus without feeding it ketones.

How to help fix short-term memory loss:
• Increase oxygen to the hippocampus (exercise or use hyperbaric oxygen therapy)
• Increase ketones
• Fasting
• Take vitamin D
• Consume foods high in zinc
• Take vitamin B1 (nutritional yeast)
• Decrease stress

How to increase ketones:
• Get on a low-carb diet (the healthy keto diet)
• Consume MCT oil
• Take exogenous ketones

1:37 What you could do

Someone wanted to know whether or not there are any benefits of fasting for 14 hours. They said they eat breakfast at 8 am and fast until dinner at 6 pm. Then, they fast until breakfast the next morning.

This person is fasting for 10 hours during the day and 14 hours at night. A person can receive benefits from this fasting pattern. However, you may not experience autophagy, which has to do with anti-aging and recycling old proteins.

Potential benefits of fasting for 14 hours:
• Weight loss
• Cognitive benefits
• Mood benefits
• Reduction in inflammation

The sweet spot to see some really amazing fasting benefits is to fast between 16 to 18 hours per day. Then, you could go up to 20 hours of fasting and even possibly start consuming one meal per day. With this, you may see more intense benefits and even benefits from autophagy.

What you may want to do is take advantage of the time that you’re fasting while sleeping and push it further from there. Try to slowly push your first meal from 8 am to 9 am, and from 9 am to 10 am. If you were to consume one meal at 10 am and one meal at 6 pm, you would have 16 hours of fasting. You could do this for a week or two and then push your first meal to 12 pm. This will give you 18 hours of fasting. This could produce amazing benefits.

In this video, we’re going to talk about vitiligo. Vitiligo is a depigmentation problem. You lose your skin pigment in certain areas of your body. The cells in control of the skin pigment—known as melanocytes—have stopped functioning properly.

This condition is often associated with autoimmunity. Those with vitiligo may have other autoimmune conditions.

Vitiligo is associated with a large amount of free radical damage. ROS and hydrogen peroxide cause a lot of oxidation.

Zinc and copper are involved in a very powerful antioxidant called SOD (superoxide dismutase).

Light therapy may be used to combat vitiligo. A pilot study showed that when vitiligo patients take 35,000 IUs of vitamin D, 14 out of 16 see significant repigmentation.

There are three supplements you can take for vitiligo:

1. Zinc – 100 mg

2. Vitamin D – 35,000 IUs

3. Copper – 1500 mcg

Fasting may also benefit those with vitiligo since it’s related to autoimmunity.

Today I want to cover the ten benefits of fiber. When I’m talking about fiber, I’m talking about vegetable fiber, not grain fibers, like bran, for example. On the healthy keto diet, I believe it’s important that a person consumes a lot of vegetables as a part of the healthy keto lifestyle. But, there are times that a person wouldn’t want to consume large amounts of vegetables, for example, if they have SIBO.

10 benefits of fiber:
1. It has zero effect on insulin
2. It contains phytonutrients, vitamins, and minerals
3. It binds to bile and helps regulate the amount of bile in the body
4. It can help feed the microflora
5. Small-chain fatty acids (blood sugar control and more)
6. It may help regulate pH
7. It may help regulate transit time
8. It may help regulate lipids
9. It may have anti-cancer effects
10. It can help buffer the blood sugar response

Feeling Worse with Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)?

Do you feel worse after taking apple cider vinegar (ACV)? This could be why.

2:55 Keto after gastritis or an ulcer
3:10 Apple cider vinegar benefits

Today let’s talk about why you might feel worse after taking apple cider vinegar.

There are two main reasons why you might feel worse after taking apple cider vinegar:
1. You have an ulcer
2. You have gastritis (inflammation of the stomach lining)

What you could do:
1. Zinc carnosine (50mg 3x per day)
2. Chlorophyll
3. Cabbage
4. DGL-licorice
5. Probiotics

Let’s say you have gastritis, an ulcer, and SIBO. This complicates things. SIBO occurs when there are good bacteria in the wrong place. The last thing you want to do is add probiotics or fiber (cabbage) in this situation. The best thing to do in this situation may be to do carnivore for a while and fasting. Fasting may actually help the most.

As you reduce the symptoms from gastritis or an ulcer, you may want to start doing healthy keto and intermittent fasting to help prevent it from coming back again.

A few potential benefits of apple cider vinegar:
• It has potential benefits for your blood sugars
• It may help with insulin resistance
• It may help with digestion

The best time to take apple cider vinegar is before a meal, but a lot of people take it in the morning and at night. You can mix at least 1 tbsp. of ACV in a glass of water, or you can get a powder or tablet ( you may want to take 4-5 tablets). You can also add betaine hydrochloride for additional help.

Swollen face and puffy eyes? With the right information, this situation can be very easy to fix.

Timestamps
0:00 Swollen face and puffy eyes
0:18 What causes a swollen face and puffy eyes?
2:35 What you could do

Today we’re going to talk about what’s really behind a swollen face and puffy eyes. This situation can be so easy to fix as long as you understand one simple concept.

There are two sources of fuel in the body. There’s glucose and fat/ketones. Ketones are made from fat. Glucose is stored as glycogen. Fat is stored as adipose tissue.

Storing glucose as glycogen is extremely limited. You can only store a small amount of it. But fat has no limit. Glucose is limited because it’s very hydrated. For your body to store glucose as glycogen, it requires a lot of water, and there’s not enough space to store that much hydrated material.

The body will handle this situation by taking the excess glucose from the diet and efficiently converting it into fat. If you’re consuming excess glucose in the diet, you’re going to have more fat and more fluid. This can show up in the face as a swollen face, and especially around the eyes as puffy eyes.

I believe the best way to handle this situation is to eliminate the excess glucose in the diet. The body is designed to have a very tiny amount of sugar, and that sugar can be easily created from non-carbohydrate sources. I do not believe a person needs to consume any sugar to have normal blood sugar levels.

0:00 Fiber for gallstones
0:10 A deeper look at fiber
0:55 What causes gallstones?
1:03 What does bile do?
1:40 The type of fiber to consume

Today we’re going to talk about the relationship between fiber and gallstones. The more fiber you consume, the more bile you’re going to release. Over 95% of the bile in your body gets reabsorbed in the last part of the small intestine.

As you lose more bile, there are certain sensors in your large intestine that signal back up to the liver, telling the liver there isn’t enough bile. This negative feedback loop causes the liver to make more bile. The more bile your body makes, the less concentrated the cholesterol stones become, and the greater the decreased risk of gallstones. The cause of gallstones is a lack of bile, so more production of bile may help decrease the risk of gallstones.

Bile does many different things, such as:
• It helps you absorb fat-soluble vitamins and omega-3 fats
• It helps break down fats
• It helps kill bacteria in the small intestine

One important thing to note is that you always want to consume more vegetable fiber instead of grain fiber.

What do high blood potassium levels (hyperkalemia) mean, and what can you do about this situation? Find out.

Timestamps

2:30 Typical hyperkalemia treatment
3:05 Hypokalemia
3:20 Symptoms of hypokalemia
3:30 Testing for hyperkalemia and hypokalemia

Today we’re going to talk about high levels of potassium in your blood, which is called hyperkalemia.

98% of all of the potassium in your body is actually inside of your cells, not outside of the cells or in your blood. When evaluating hyperkalemia, we’re really looking at just the 2%, so we’re not seeing the whole picture of what’s going on.

Considering that the majority of the potassium is inside of the cell, measuring potassium levels based on the blood may not be a good way to determine if a person has too much or too little potassium. However, there is an intracellular potassium test that I believe is much more valuable.

A few important things about hyperkalemia:
• It’s very rare
• There are very few symptoms associated with hyperkalemia (severe cases may cause palpitations, tiredness, muscle pain, and muscle weakness)
• There is a condition called pseudohyperkalemia (which is basically a false impression that you have high levels of potassium in the blood)
• Excessive intake of potassium is not a primary cause of hyperkalemia

A few causes of hyperkalemia:
• Advanced kidney disease
• Addison’s disease
• NSAIDs
• Certain high blood pressure medications

The typical treatment for hyperkalemia typically involves taking:
• Calcium
• Insulin
• Dextrose
• Sodium bicarbonate

On the other hand, A deficiency of potassium in the blood is called hypokalemia. Hypokalemia is the most common form of electrolyte imbalance when someone is hospitalized.

A few symptoms of hypokalemia:
• Leg cramps
• Weakness
• Constipation
• Abnormal heart rhythm issues

Today we’re going to talk about tanning beds and vitamin D. The sun emits a wavelength that penetrates a certain level of your skin. In that layer of skin, the sun triggers cholesterol to create a chemical change into vitamin D. But, at this stage, it’s an inactive form of vitamin D3 (previtamin D3).

The inactive form of vitamin D has to be activated through the liver and the kidneys. However, certain things can block this conversion and keep you from achieving your optimum vitamin D levels.

The wavelength (UV) we’re talking about is actually made up of three different wavelengths. The wavelength that makes vitamin D is called UV-B. There is also UV-A, but this wavelength does not make vitamin D. UV-A is the wavelength used in tanning beds.

The problem with UV-A is that it penetrates deeper, and it can actually create genetic damage in DNA. It may also increase the risk of melanomas. With the sun, you’re getting UV-A, UV-B, and UV-C, as well as other things. With a tanning bed, you’re only getting UV-A.

What really matters is that you’re getting vitamin D because vitamin D can be protective against many things, including certain types of cancer. It’s also difficult to get the vitamin D you need from food. Getting vitamin D from the sun may be your best option.

3:16 Why you’re hungry in the morning on keto #3

Today we’re going to talk about why you might be hungry in the morning while doing keto and intermittent fasting.

There are three main reasons why you would be hungry in the morning while doing keto and intermittent fasting:

1. Between 6 am and 10 am, you have a spike in cortisol. One of the functions of cortisol is to release glucose from your stored sugar. In the morning, if cortisol releases sugar from your liver, you’re going to get a small spike of sugar. After that, your insulin is going to push your sugar down, and when it comes down, you’ll be hungry. If you’re hungry but have no other symptoms, you can ignore the hunger. If you’re hungry and also have other symptoms like moodiness, weakness, or dizziness, you should eat.

2. You could be hungry in the morning because of what you ate the day before, especially the night before. You may have had too many carbs or snacks the day before, and this spiked your insulin. This will then cause your blood sugars to go down, and you’ll mainly feel this the next day. You may have cravings or hunger. This can also occur when you consume wine the night before.

3. You may not have been on the keto program long enough. Sometimes it only takes 3-5 days to get into ketosis, but other times it could take several weeks. A couple of things you can do to help with this transition is to increase more fat with the meal, increase apple cider vinegar mixed in water before each meal (1tbsp. in water), and increase your vegetables.
