Could intermittent fasting be as effective as insulin for diabetics? Here’s what the research shows!

In this video, we’re going to talk about why intermittent fasting could replace insulin for type-2 diabetes.

The difference between type-1 and type-2 diabetes is that type-1 diabetes is characterized by a lack of insulin due to pancreatic damage.

Type-2 diabetes is characterized by a lack of insulin sensitivity. When you have insulin resistance, your body creates far too much insulin. However, this insulin isn’t effective because your insulin receptors can’t pull in the insulin.

Over time, type-2 diabetes can exhaust the pancreas, causing a reduction in inulin production. In turn, some severe types of type-2 diabetes may require insulin shots.

Hyperglycemia (high blood sugar) has similar side effects as high insulin. Both can cause damage to your nerves and blood vessels—especially in your eyes, kidneys, arteries, heart, and brain.

An interesting study on three people found that fasting has the potential to reverse insulin resistance and restore insulin’s effects on blood sugar levels. All three patients were able to stop taking insulin. Two of the three patients were able to eliminate all medications, and the other patient eliminated 3 out of 4 medications.

These results seem to be due to the fact that lowering your consumption of carbs lowers your need for insulin.

Keto and intermittent fasting combined may decrease the need for insulin even further.

Make sure you do not stop taking your prescription medications without your doctor’s approval. Work with your doctor to get healthier by doing keto and intermittent fasting.

Let’s talk about the top-selling multivitamin in the world. They use mostly elemental minerals in this multivitamin, which don’t absorb well in the body, are very inexpensive, and are not sourced from plants. 

Synthetic vitamins are also not the same form as the vitamin or mineral that comes from nature, and they won’t absorb well in the body. 

What’s really in the top-selling multivitamin in the world:
• Calcium carbonate (not very bioavailable)
• Magnesium oxide (not a good form for absorption) 
• Ascorbic acid (synthetic)
• Dl-alpha tocopheryl acetate (synthetic)
• Cyanocobalamin (synthetic)
• Thiamine mononitrate (synthetic)
• Zinc oxide (most insoluble form)

Other ingredients in the top-selling multivitamin in the world:
• Corn starch 
• Modified corn starch 
• Maltodextrin 
• BHT (a preservative)
• Polyethylene glycol 
• Titanium oxide (whitener—used in varnish, paint, and plastic, and is considered a possible carcinogen by the IARC and not safe in food sources by the EFSA)
• Red 2 lake/ Red 40 / Yellow 6 lake 

In my opinion, this multivitamin product is not even a true multivitamin. It’s some artificial thing that resembles a multivitamin. 

My products contain vitamins and minerals that come from actual food sources like broccoli, tomatoes, and shiitake mushrooms. Synthetic is very different than a vitamin from a food source. Vitamins from nature come in complexes and have no chemical residues. 

When you buy a vitamin, read the label, including the ingredients. If you can’t pronounce the words on the ingredient list, then it’s probably synthetic.

Vitamin D is a very interesting vitamin. It’s not even really a vitamin. It acts more like a hormone. There are many reasons why someone could be deficient in vitamin D, but today we’re going to focus on just one important cause.

Potential causes of a vitamin D deficiency:
1. Not consuming enough in the diet
2. Not getting enough from the sun
3. Age
4. Skin color (the darker the skin, the less absorption of vitamin D)
5. Obesity
6. Metabolic syndrome
7. Inflammation
8. Malabsorption
9. Infection
10. Polymorphism

We’re going to focus on polymorphism. Polymorphism is the mutation in the genes that control the vitamin D receptor.

With polymorphism, vitamin D is supposed to be traveling through the blood to connect to the sensor, but there is resistance in the receptor. This means it can’t be received correctly by the receptor. It can’t do its job, which can lead to vast problems.

Vitamin D receptors are located in most of your body tissue—they are all over the place. This is why vitamin D is so important.

Polymorphism can lead to:
• Rickets
• Osteoporosis or osteopenia
• Hair loss
• Susceptibility to viruses
• Liver inflammation
• Autoimmune conditions
• Insomnia

What you can do:
• Take higher amounts of vitamin D
• Take purified bile salts

Today we’re going to talk about a very interesting gene, the Nrf-2 gene, that helps to protect you against disease, especially cancer. This gene is like the master gene that activates hundreds of other genes that protect your cells. These other genes are related to antioxidants. Antioxidants don’t just come from your food. Your body also makes them.

Antioxidants that are made in the body are called endogenous antioxidants. This gene regulates endogenous antioxidants. It also regulates the detoxification genes, which help break down certain things that can cause cancer.

This gene helps protect against:
• Trauma
• Emotional stress
• Pollution
• Toxins
• UV-rays
• Nutritional deficiencies

Some people have overexpression of this gene. These are the people who can eat what they want, smoke, and drink—and live a long life. But, those who have a normal expression of this gene are prone to develop diseases and cancer.

Epigenetics is above genetics. You can do certain things on an epigenetic level to have the advantage of having more expression of this gene. But, of all of the things to focus on, fasting may be the most important.

Things that will help enhance the expression of this gene:

• Sulforaphane (cruciferous)
• Quercetin (onions and green tea)

Today we’re going to talk about why you might feel angry or irritable when fasting and what to do about it.

Your body runs off of three main types of fuel. There is sugar, ketones, and fatty acids. When someone lowers their carbs and sugars and starts producing ketones, they’re only running on about 40% ketones. About 60% of their fuel is fatty acids.

If you have a history of long-term insulin resistance, it will take a while for your body to become more flexible in this transition to burning ketones and fatty acids. During this transition process, you could feel angry or irritable when fasting. You might also have a low tolerance to stress.

Insulin resistance makes it difficult to get glucose into the cell because you need insulin to absorb glucose. When you go on a low-carb, low-sugar diet, you’re really low on glucose, and you’re dependent on ketones and fatty acids.

The problem is that your brain is the only organ that can’t use fatty acids. It can only use ketones and glucose. But, if you haven’t fully switched over to running on ketones and fatty acids yet, your brain and mood can suffer.

Tips for irritability when fasting:
1. Give it time for your body to fully adapt
2. Add more ketones to your diet during the adaptation phase (MCT oil or exogenous ketones)

This transition is temporary. Don’t give up, and eventually, you’ll feel really good while doing fasting and the keto diet.

In this video, we’re going to talk about why chickens that eat ticks don’t get Lyme disease.

There haven’t been any known cases of humans getting Lyme disease from chickens. This is interesting because chickens are known to eat ticks.

Chickens can’t get Lyme disease from eating ticks. This is because of how the digestive system works. When the tick is digested by the chicken, the bacteria that causes Lyme disease is killed off by the friendly bacteria, enzymes, and stomach acid.

A chicken’s stomach has a pH of between 1.3 and 3.5, which will kill off most microorganisms.

Additionally, when a chicken gets the bacteria that causes Lyme from a bite, its immune response is strong enough to fight off the bacteria.

Keep in mind that not all ticks carry the bacteria that causes Lyme. Only 1% to 50% carry the bacteria, depending on the location.

A tick must be attached for at least 36 to 48 hours before the Lyme bacterium can be transmitted. It also takes 3 to 5 days for a tick to fill up with blood.

In summary, you don’t have to worry about getting Lyme Disease from chickens—they are virtually unaffected by Lyme.

Let’s talk about the sequence of events that lead to heart disease. This sequence of events really all starts when you’re seven years old. Certain studies found lesions in the aorta of virtually 100% of children between the ages of 7-9 years. 

It’s important to understand the cascade effect that leads to cardiovascular disease. You don’t want to wait until you have heart attack symptoms, calcium build-up in the arteries, or a clot to make a change. 

There is a test called the CAC test that measures calcium in your arteries. It’s one of the best predictors of mortality. You don’t want any calcium in the arteries. 
 
Oxidative stress leads to necrosis, which causes inflammation and macrophages, which then leads to microcalcification and then more calcification, fibrosis, and cholesterol. 

Higher levels of glucose in the blood is probably the number one cause of oxidation. It’s so important to reduce the carbs you consume. Omega-6 fatty acids are also very inflammatory and can lead to oxidation. 

The most important things to potentially help prevent cardiovascular disease:
• Keep your oxidants low (cut out sugar and omega-6 fatty acids)
• Increase your antioxidants (especially vitamin E) 
• Do regular intermittent fasting and periodic prolonged fasting 
• Take EDTA
• Increase your potassium 
• Increase your vitamin K2

In this video, we’re going to talk about why stress destroys your muscles.

When you go through chronic stress, your cortisol level increases, causing many changes in your body.

High cortisol increases the catabolic effect on muscles, meaning your muscle proteins break down faster. High cortisol also decreases the anabolic effect on muscles, meaning your body can’t build more muscle efficiently.

The most common causes of high cortisol are:
• Stress
• Prednisone
• Tumors

When your cortisol is high, your body turns muscle into amino acids, which boosts the production of glucose in your liver. This is known as gluconeogenesis.

Essentially, your body turns muscle proteins into sugar when you have high cortisol. This primarily affects the thigh and gluteal muscles.

This whole process is a survival mechanism. Your body is trying to preserve glucose to use as fuel for your brain.

Typically, muscle tissue is not used for fuel. However, in a survival state, your body will use muscle to provide fuel for the brain.

Stress also causes…
• Suppression of glucose uptake
• Utilization of glucose
• Glycogen synthesis

The question is, what can you do to counter the effects of stress on your muscles?

Here’s what you can do:
1. Isolate stressors and reduce them
2. Take vitamins B1 and B5
3. Get plenty of vitamin D3

The common cold isn’t all bad. It may be able to help protect you against covid-19.

Let’s talk about how the common cold may help protect you against covid-19. The rhinovirus infection is basically the common cold. Children can get 6-12 rhinovirus infections per year.

Researchers at the Yale School of Medicine found that your interferon production goes way up when you have a rhinovirus infection. Interferon is a defense mechanism against viruses.

In the experiment, they infected the airways of people who never had the rhinovirus with covid-19. After, the viral loads doubled every six hours for three days. There was a massive covid-19 infection occurring.

But, they also infected a group of people who had been exposed to the rhinovirus in the past with covid-19. In these people, the replication of the virus halted.

So, potentially, the more colds a person has, the more interferon there is in the sinuses, and the more protection they have against viruses, including covid-19.

This could potentially be one reason why children are rarely affected by covid-19.

I believe the best thing to do when it comes to covid-19 is to keep your immune system very strong.

In this video, we’re going to talk about a new study that suggests that curcumin is as effective as Prozac for depression.

This randomized controlled trial, involving 60 people, showed that curcumin has the potential to reduce the symptoms of depression, but without the side effect of medications like Prozac.

The side effects of Prozac include:
• Nausea
• Headaches
• Insomnia
• Diarrhea
• Fatigue
• Weakness

Rare side effects also include:
• Chest pain
• Severe dizziness
• Painful erection that can last longer than four hours.

How does curcumin help with depression?

Curcumin increases something called brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). BDNF increases a protein that helps neurons make new connections.

In this video, we’re going to talk about a helpful remedy for those with painful menstrual periods—ginger!

On the first day of a woman’s period, a big change happens in the uterus. These changes happen to the muscles, blood vessels, and inflammation levels. This is due to hormone-like compounds called prostaglandins.

Prostaglandins help regulate inflammation when tissue is damaged.

When someone takes an NSAID, like Ibuprofen or Aspirin, this can block certain enzymes that make prostaglandins.

Unfortunately, there can be some side effects to NSAIDS:
• Indigestion
• Ulcers
• Headaches
• Dizziness
• Drowsiness
• Allergies

The phytonutrients in ginger can act as potent inhibitors of prostaglandins.

In fact, studies have found that ginger can be just as effective as ibuprofen, acetaminophen, and caffeine for pain related to menstruation.

Of course, ginger doesn’t carry the same side effects as medications do. It can even support your digestion.
