If you think that cholesterol is the bad guy, you need to watch this video.

4:15 Bad cholesterol
Today we’re going to talk about cholesterol and vitamin D. Did you know that you actually need cholesterol to make vitamin D? The majority of the world is deficient in vitamin D, so it’s important to know more about vitamin D and where it comes from.
It’s almost impossible to get enough vitamin D from your diet. There are only a few foods that have vitamin D.
Foods with vitamin D:
• Fatty fish (like salmon and sardines)
• Egg yolk
• Milk products
• Mushrooms (pre-vitamin D)
Sun exposure is the best way to get vitamin D. Cholesterol is a necessary part of how the body gets vitamin D from the sun.
Vitamin D deficiency symptoms:
• Inflammation
• High blood pressure
• A poor immune system
• Back pain
• A higher risk for autoimmune disease, asthma, and more.
Your body makes cholesterol every day—your liver makes it, and other cells make it as well.
You need cholesterol for many important things, including:
1. To make vitamin D
2. To make bile salts
3. As a precursor for sex hormones
4. Your cell membranes need cholesterol
Cholesterol is tightly regulated by a negative feedback loop. If you eat more cholesterol, your body makes less. If you eat less cholesterol, your body makes more. You don’t want to do a low-fat diet. If you do, you could potentially have less cholesterol, which could cause you to make less bile, vitamin D, sex hormones, and cell membranes.
Don’t fear cholesterol. But, understand that sugar and refined carbs will turn into the bad form of cholesterol that can create damage in the arteries. It’s not the dietary cholesterol or fat that’s the problem. It’s the sugar and refined carbohydrates.

1:45 Glomerular filtration rate
2:05 Causes of kidney damage
2:56 What to do for kidney damage
In this video, we’re going to talk about the 7 early signs of kidney disease.
There are five stages of kidney dysfunction, ranging from mild to severe. At stage 4 and five, there are many dietary restrictions to prevent further damage, including potassium and phosphorus.
Interestingly, potassium has a protective effect on the kidney. However, in later stages of kidney dysfunction or kidney disease, your kidney can no longer process it.
1. Metallic taste or ammonia breath
2. Protein aversion (dislike of protein—especially meat)
3. Nausea/vomiting
4. Difficulty concentrating
5. Itchiness
6. Loss of appetite
7. Swollen face, hands, or feet
If you have any sort of kidney dysfunction, you always want to check the glomerular filtration rate. This is a measurement of how well the kidney filtering.
One of the most common causes of kidney damage is diabetes and prediabetes. Years of chronic consumption of carbohydrates can cause kidney destruction.
If your glucose level rises too much, you can develop glucose toxicity. This causes damage to the kidney’s filtration system.
If you have kidney dysfunction, the ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting can help.
The herb astragalus has been shown to decrease creatine, which improves the filtration rate of the kidneys.

Today I want to cover a few natural remedies for liver fibrosis. Liver disease typically starts with inflammation or a fatty liver. This inflammation over time becomes chronic and can cause a lot of damage in the liver cells. Then, the liver cells start to heal with scar tissue, which is called fibrosis. Fibrosis can eventually lead to cirrhosis. Cirrhosis is an advanced form of fibrosis in the liver.
A few causes of increased inflammation in the liver that can lead to liver fibrosis:
• A virus
• Alcohol
• Drugs
• Medications
• Toxins
• Parasites
• Fructose
• Sugar
• Junk food
• Refined carbohydrates
• Too much iron
Liver fibrosis symptoms:
• Tiredness
• Weakness
• Itchiness
• Ascites
• Breast tissue (in males)
• Hypogonadism (in males)
• Portal hypertension
Potential liver fibrosis remedies:
1. Fuzheng Huayu Formula (FZHY)
2. TUDCA (bear bile)
3. Golden thread (Coptis)
4. Curcumin
Of course, keto and intermittent fasting are also important. Doing prolonged fasting to get into a state of autophagy may be especially beneficial.

2:45 What to doÂ
Will eating too little damage your metabolism? Maybe you’re doing fasting, and when you do eat, you’re having a certain amount of calories that you feel isn’t enough. Will this slow down your metabolism?Â
Many people are told to consume small frequent meals to keep the metabolism going. I do not believe this is true at all.Â
If you’re doing a low-calorie diet, it depends on what’s happening with your insulin. What’s behind a slow metabolism or a stuck set point is high insulin. Insulin resistance is creating this problem. Insulin resistance is created by years of consuming refined carbohydrates or eating too frequently.
If you have insulin resistance, you have higher amounts of insulin. High insulin prevents weight loss.Â
How to fix your metabolism:
• Do fastingÂ
• Keep your carbs low
• Keep your nutrients highÂ
If you’re on a low-calorie diet, but you’re consuming carbs, then you won’t be able to fix insulin resistance or boost your metabolism.Â
If you’re consuming nutrient-dense meals, then you won’t damage your metabolism.Â
You could do a low-calorie diet while still getting all of the nutrients you need and cutting out carbs, and it won’t affect the metabolism.Â
Typically the way someone destroys their metabolism is by doing a series of diets that are high in carbs and low in nutrients.Â

Glucagon opposes insulin. Find out more about this interesting fat-burning hormone.Â

0:00 GlucagonÂ
0:13 What is glucagon?Â
0:23 Glucagon and ketosis
1:11 Insulin vs. glucagonÂ
3:37 What will inhibit glucagon?Â
I’ve created a lot of videos on insulin, blood sugar, and diabetes. But, there is another hormone that works with insulin that I haven’t talked much about. It’s called glucagon.Â
Glucagon is a hormone that opposes insulin. Glucagon turns the switch on for ketosis (the state of fat burning). Insulin turns the switch off. Insulin blocks ketosis.Â
Glucagon releases stored sugar. Stored sugar is called glycogen. Glucagon will release glycogen into glucose and will turn fat into ketones. Insulin will store glucose as glycogen and as fat.Â
Insulin lowers sugar in the blood, but glucagon raises it. Glucagon is a counter hormone to insulin.Â
Let’s say you have too much insulin and it shoves your blood sugar way down, so you get hypoglycemia. Normally, glucagon is supposed to kick in and counter that. Glucagon is a fat-burning hormone that helps keep the blood sugar where it needs to be.Â
Insulin is a dominating hormone. In the presence of insulin, glucagon will be lowered. Insulin knocks you out of ketosis, but glucagon actually puts you into ketosis.Â
Insulin is triggered by carbohydrates, protein, and eating. Glucagon is triggered by protein, vigorous exercise, adrenaline, GIP, and fasting.Â
High sugar in the diet and insulin will both inhibit glucagon.Â

Do you have to consume dietary fat to get into or stay in ketosis? Find out.Â
Timestamps:
0:00 Do you need fat to stay in ketosis?
0:10 Dietary fat and ketosis
0:40 What if you don’t want to lose weight?
0:55 Fat-soluble vitaminsÂ
1:20 Low-fat proteins
2:00 How to get into ketosisÂ
Today we’re going to talk about whether or not consuming dietary fat on keto is necessary to stay in ketosis.Â
When you start keto, in the beginning, you’re going to adapt from sugar burning to fat burning. If your dietary fat is too low, you could have a rough time on the keto diet because you’ll be hungry all of the time. It’s the dietary fat in the meal that keeps you satisfied and allows you to fast for longer. It makes it easier to get into ketosis if you’re not so hungry.Â
Let’s say you’re on the ketogenic diet, but you no longer want to lose weight. In this situation, if you don’t consume enough fat, you’ll keep losing weight. When you achieve your weight loss goal, and you don’t want to lose any more weight, you have to add more fat to the diet.Â
It’s important to consume the right type of fats to be sure you’re getting enough fat-soluble vitamins as well as essential fatty acids. If you’re not doing the right type of fats, you could become deficient.
You always need to look at the ratio of protein to fat. On the keto diet, you want to make sure you get enough fat with the protein you consume. You never want to do low-fat proteins on the ketogenic diet. Low-fat high-protein foods like soy protein isolates are terrible on the liver and kidneys.Â
It’s also important to note that fat is not what gets someone into ketosis. The lowering of carbs is what gets the body into ketosis.Â

Today I want to cover the best foods for gallstones. Gallstones are caused by a situation where you have supersaturated cholesterol that’s forming a stone. But, just because you have high cholesterol, this doesn’t mean that you’ll get a gallstone. You also have to have low amounts of bile salts. Supersaturated cholesterol, in combination with a bile deficiency, could lead to gallstones.
The foods that we’re going to talk about are great for increasing bile production. Primary bile salts are made by your liver, and secondary bile salts are made by your microbes.
There are a lot of natural things that can help you increase bile and reduce gallstones.
A few potentially helpful supplements for gallstones:
• Choline

• Omega-3 fatty acids (as a supplement or from foods)
