In this video, we’re going to talk about why you might be feeling tired while doing intermittent fasting and how to increase your energy levels.

When you go from a high-carb diet to a low-carb diet, there’s going to be a stage of keto-adaptation. This is where your body is switching from using glucose as your primary fuel source to using ketones as your preferred fuel source.

During this time, you can experience keto fatigue. You’re going to be tired until your body fully adapts.

The problem is, many people start adding in more carbs because they think it will help with the adaptation process. This only makes keto-adaptation more difficult. If you cut out the carbs, adaptation won’t drag out and leave you feeling tired and fatigued for so long. It can take up to a week for adaptation.

Another cause of keto fatigue is not having enough minerals—particularly electrolytes such as potassium and magnesium.

Lastly, you may feel keto fatigue if you’re low on vitamin B1. Vitamin B1 is vital to energy levels. Fat does not contain vitamin B1, so you may have to replenish it on keto.

If you’re having a lot of coffee and tea on keto, you may have even lower B1 levels because they tend to deplete vitamin B1.

Wine can make you more fatigued because alcohol and sulfites can deplete vitamin B1.

If all of you’re only eating cooked foods, you may have low nutrients levels as well. Get plenty of raw vegetables. Keep in mind that raw fish can also deplete vitamin B1, so stay away from that.

Medications for type 2 diabetes may also be the cause of fatigue. Talk with your doctor about fatigue if you’re using any medications.

If you are low on vitamin B1, nutritional yeast is a fantastic natural source.

In this video, we’re going to talk about the huge problem with the glycemic index.

The glycemic index covers a wide range of foods on a scale that rates their ability to raise your blood glucose. A type of food food that is less than 55 on the glycemic index is considered low. Between 56 and 69 is considered medium, and 70-100 is considered high.

You wouldn’t believe the foods that are considered low on the glycemic index:
• Twix candy bars
• Pizza hut supreme pie
• Betty Crocker chocolate cake
• 100% stone-ground wheat bread

There are five problems with the glycemic index that I want to highlight.

1. It’s not based on real-world serving size consumption.

2. People never eat just one type of food.

3. Combining protein or fat with sugar creates advanced glycation end products, which are harmful to your body.

4. Low GI fructose is worse than glucose.

5. It ignores the glycemic load and insulin index.

Check out my other videos on the glycemic load and insulin index.

I believe vitamin D is the most important vitamin for asthma. Here’s why.

1:13 The immune system
2:32 Traditional asthma treatment
2:55 Natural asthma remedy

Today we’re going to talk about vitamin D and asthma. Typically, someone who is asthmatic has a vitamin D deficiency.

Symptoms of asthma may include:
• Wheezing
• Shortness of breath
• Chest tightness
• Cough

It could actually be the vitamin D deficiency that causes:
• Changes in the thickness where the gas exchange occurs in the lung
• Changes in the mass volume of the lung itself
• Changes in the composition
• Changes in the smooth muscle

There are a lot of structural things that are being altered when you have asthma, mainly because of inflammation. At the lining of the lung tissue where it’s exposed to air, you have complex immune protection.

With asthma, there are two areas in the immune system where things aren’t working that well. One is with the T helper cell, and the other is with the T regulatory cell. Both of these are involved in the coordination of immune reactions and regulating inflammation to make sure there’s not too much inflammation. When there is a dysfunction of these cells, you can get inflammation.

Now, not only do we not get the gas exchange, but there is also hypersensitivity to various triggers. There is an overreaction in the immune system, and inflammation is easily triggered. With asthma, there is a problem with the immune system, the lung, and cortisol.

Vitamin D may start to turn around and remodel the lungs in a positive way. It can potentially slow down and stop inflammation and fibrosis. Vitamin D can also allow cortisol to work better in the lungs. It can even act very similar to cortisol. Vitamin D is a very powerful anti-inflammatory. You may want to consider taking at least 20,000 IUs of vitamin D3 to potentially see a difference in the way you breathe, as well as reduced asthma symptoms.

In this video, we’re going to talk about the absolute worst way to convince people to do keto.

When you show someone the research and amazing results of keto, and they still don’t give it a chance, it feels hopeless. Why aren’t they willing to give it a try? Well, it’s often because they do not perceive that they have a problem to begin with. In their mind, they’re healthy!

You cannot invalidate them by telling them that they have a problem—this just doesn’t work.

I can only help people if they can perceive that they have a problem. You can gently push them in the right direction slowly over time.

Another reason why people do not try keto is that they don’t have a weight problem. Weight isn’t the only issue. Health is the primary focus of keto.

Find out if the person has a problem that they want to solve first. Then, you can introduce keto.

Never explain the diet. Instead, explain why it works.

The absolute best way to do this is to send them my videos and books. This gives them an opportunity to discover the keto diet on their own.

5:10 Need keto consulting?

In this video, we’re going to talk about diabetes and inflammation. In my last live show, I discovered that many people still have some confusion about inflammation, insulin resistance, and obesity. I’m going to clear up these concerns in this video.

There are many different chain reactions that happen in the body when you’re dealing with diabetes and weight gain. It’s sort of a chicken or the egg situation: does diabetes cause obesity and inflammation, or does obesity and inflammation cause diabetes?

Inflammation does contribute to insulin resistance. Then, insulin resistance causes diabetes—which can cause weight gain. The more fat in your body, the more inflammation you’re going to have. This is a cyclical situation.

Keep in mind that inflammation, in general, does not cause fat directly. However, it can worsen type 2 diabetes and hinder your ability to lose weight.

The primary cause of inflammation is glucose—too many carbohydrates. Secondary causes may include too much iron, too much omega-6, alcohol, cortisol resistance, and infection.

Glucose is the primary driver of fat, too—it triggers insulin, which is an energy storage hormone that prevents fat burning.

In my live show, I asked the question, “what is the primary way to get into ketosis?” Not everyone said decreased carbs. Some people said taking ketones. This won’t cause you to lose weight.

The two things you need to do to get into ketosis are to drop your carbs and decrease the frequency of your eating.

The keto diet and intermittent fasting are powerful weight loss tools. If you want faster weight loss, you can then focus on lowering inflammation by avoiding alcohol, fixing infections, lowering omega-6s, and fixing cortisol resistance (lowering your stress), and avoiding iron supplements.

Today we’re going to cover the first symptom of a fatty liver. The first symptom of a fatty liver is malaise. Malaise is a general discomfort or uneasiness. You feel like you’re coming down with something. Malaise isn’t specific to a part of the body. It’s kind of an all-over feeling that’s very vague. You may feel a little bit of weakness.

Your immune system has been activated. There are cytokines that are activating the immune system at a certain level. Not enough for an infection, but just enough to make you feel like you’re coming down with something. The second symptom of a fatty liver can be right shoulder pain. If your gut sticks out to where you can’t see your feet when you look down, you may have a fatty liver.

A few other causes of malaise:
• Infection
• Low blood sugar
• Caffeine withdrawal
• Flu

Isn’t Our Body Supposed to Run on Sugar?

Healthy Ketogenic Diet and Intermittent Fasting:

Is the body really supposed to run on glucose? Here’s what you need to know.

Timestamps
0:00 Is the body meant to run on glucose?
0:45 What is the purpose of fat?
1:22 Certain parts of the body can only run on glucose
2:18 Ketosis

Today I want to cover some important information on whether or not the body is supposed to run on glucose. It’s true that certain parts of the body can only run on glucose. But, the greater portion of your body can also run on ketones and fatty acids.

I believe the fat you have is fuel storage to help you survive between meals. Our bodies only have roughly about 1700 calories of stored sugar. But, a thin person has about 100,000 calories of stored fat. Our bodies were meant to run on fat more than glucose.

But, it’s true that certain parts of the body can only run on glucose, such as:
1. The red blood cells
2. The liver
3. 30% of your brain
4. Certain parts of the kidney
5. The lens of the eye

The key is that there is something called gluconeogenesis, which is where your body actually makes glucose from non-carbohydrate sources like fat and ketones. If your body needs glucose, it can make it from ketones. You don’t actually need any glucose from your diet. Being in a state of ketosis can have amazing benefits for the body.

The hippocampus is a structure in the brain, and if it’s damaged, this can lead to dementia and Alzheimer’s. The hippocampus may actually thrive and improve on ketones and worsen when fed glucose. Both the hippocampus and the prefrontal cortex thrive on ketones.

Timestamps

0:47 Where Noom goes wrong
3:46 Why keto and intermittent fasting work
4:34 Amazing keto and intermittent fasting results

In this video, we’re going to talk about my opinion of Noom. Noom is a weight loss app.

On Noom’s website, they describe themselves as an anti-diet habit and behavior program. No food is off-limits. Noom primarily focuses on calories, which promotes the idea that if you eat fewer calories, you will lose weight.

The goal is to get you to track your calories with the hopes that you will become more aware of what you’re eating and how many calories you’re getting each day.

Eating less junk food and fewer calories will definitely be a factor in weight loss. However, there are a few big problems with Noom. Take a look.

1. The first time, it may work. However, it’ll start to work less and less over time.

2. Low-calorie diets slow your metabolism!

3. Dieting like this is not compatible with a long-term healthy lifestyle.

4. Noom assumes all calories are treated the same by the body (they aren’t!).

5. Aging slows your metabolism further—Noom doesn’t account for this.

6. They allow snacking, which causes insulin resistance and weight gain

The ketogenic diet is a far better way to lose weight. You don’t feel hungry, you don’t have to count your calories, and you burn fat fast. Check out my channel to learn more about keto and intermittent fasting.

Healthy Ketogenic Diet and Intermittent Fasting:

Find out why you may want to use probiotics with liver disease. Check this out.

Timestamps

2:11 Probiotic sources

Today we’re going to talk about why you may want to use probiotics if you have a liver problem. This could include problems like a fatty liver, a liver that has inflammation, or cirrhosis. If your belly sticks out, you may have a fatty liver.

Probiotics can help prevent bacterial translocation. When there’s liver damage, the bacteria in your colon have the ability to migrate beyond the colon and into the lymphatic system. Once the bacteria get into the lymphatic system, you can have immune reactions, and you can trigger cytokines. This can cause inflammation, increase endotoxins, and increase TNF alpha.

Probiotics can also help reduce ammonia. One of the side effects of advanced liver problems is an excessive amount of ammonia in the blood.

Probiotics may significantly reduce symptoms associated with liver disease. Probiotics may also help slow down fibrosis and reduce ammonia.

How to get probiotics:
• Take a good probiotic supplement
• Consume kombucha
• Consume sauerkraut
• Consume kimchi
• Consume kefir (plain and unsweetened)

High Pulse Rate on Keto? Do This…

If you have a high pulse rate on keto, this could be why. Check this out.

0:15 A deeper look at the keto diet
0:35 Healthy keto
1:15 The cause of a high pulse rate on keto
2:35 What you could do

Today we’re going to talk about why a person might have a high pulse rate when starting the ketogenic diet. When you do keto, you’re lowering your carbohydrates. But, going on keto doesn’t necessarily require you to increase other nutrients.

However, there is a version of the keto diet called “healthy keto.” This means that you’re doing a low-carb diet, but you’re also making sure that you’re eating foods that include all of the nutrients your body requires.

One of the interesting things that happen when you go low-carb is that you’re no longer holding on to a lot of your stored glycogen. This especially occurs when you do fasting. Glycogen is very hydrated with water.

When you store fat, you’re not storing fluid. When you get on the keto diet, you’re dumping a lot of fluid. Now, you’re also going to lose potassium and magnesium—your electrolytes. Unless you’re putting these electrolytes back into the diet, you could end up with a higher pulse rate.

This is because magnesium and potassium help keep the pulse rate lower and regulated. This is also why when someone starts to consume more refined carbs, their pulse rate goes up. It takes potassium to store the carbohydrates as glycogen. Both a high-carb diet and a low-carb diet without enough nutrients could cause a potassium deficiency.

To help with this situation, you could start consuming more vegetables or take potassium as a supplement. Low vitamin B1 (thiamine) could also cause a high pulse rate. If you still have a high pulse rate after having more potassium, you may also want to add vitamin B1 or nutritional yeast.

In this video, we’re going to talk about the interesting cause of air hunger. Another term for this is dyspnea or shortness of breath.

The typical reasons why you might not be able to breathe well are:
1. Asthma
2. COPD
3. Pneumonia
4. Tuberculosis
5. Anxiety
6. Allergies
7. Anemia
8. Gallbladder problems

The lesser-known cause of air hunger or shortness of breath is a problem with your pH level. If your pH level is too high or low, you can develop acidosis or alkalosis.

Acidosis symptoms:
• Headaches
• Fatigue
• Tremors
• Sleepiness
• Coughing
• Shortness of breath

Alkalosis symptoms:
• Muscle weakness
• Pain
• Cramps
• Hypocalcemia
• Tetany
• Breathing issue (very rare)

The best remedies for acidosis include:
• Potassium
• Magnesium
• Potassium

The best remedies for alkalosis include:
• Apple cider vinegar
• Betaine hydrochloride

Keep in mind that poor pH levels can be brought on by many things. If you’re too alkaline, this can be because of poor stomach acid, high levels of cortisol, chronic stress, and low potassium. If you’re too acidic, the cause could be liver issues, extreme fasting, or consuming too much apple cider vinegar or kombucha tea.

In this video, we’re going to talk about the bigger problems with chronic inflammation.

Most people with chronic inflammation are primarily concerned about the pain and stiffness that comes from inflammation. However, there are some much larger issues that you need to know about.

There are four main cytokines—TNF, IL-1b, Il-6, NF-KAPPA-B. These are proteins that are pro-inflammatory. I want to focus on TNF, or tumor necrosis factor.

TNF destroys cancer cells. However, there’s a paradox to this—it can increase the risk of growing tumors and increase the spread of cancer. If you have high levels of TNF, you may decrease cancer in one part of your body and increase tumors in another part.

Chronic exposure to this cytokine (TNF) can cause three big problems over time:
• Cachexia (muscle wasting syndrome)
• Depression
• Increased risk and spread of cancer

Many prescription medications for chronic inflammation cause even more problems, such as type-2 diabetes.

The best natural remedies for chronic inflammation are:
• Low carb diets
• Fasting
• Vitamin D
• Lower omega-6 fatty acids

5 Reasons for Cold Intolerance

0:58 Nutrient reason for cold intolerance #2
1:30 Nutrient reason for cold intolerance #3
2:05 Nutrient reason for cold intolerance #4
2:56 Nutrient reason for cold intolerance #5

Today let’s talk about the nutrients you could be deficient in if you have cold intolerance—you’re cold all of the time.

Potential nutrient deficiencies that could cause cold intolerance:

1. Low iodine, selenium, or zinc
• These trace minerals are involved in supporting thyroid function. The best source of these trace minerals is shellfish.

2. Low iron
• People with anemia typically have cold intolerance. This could come from low iron or low vitamin B12. The best source of iron is red meat. Iron is also needed for the metabolism of brown fat, which has a primary function of thermal regulation.

3. Low vitamin B1
• Raynaud’s syndrome can stem from a vitamin B1 deficiency. With Raynaud’s syndrome, your fingers may turn blue when you come in contact with the cold. Both vitamin B1 and inositol hexanicotinate may be beneficial.

4. Low chromium
• If you’re doing healthy keto and intermittent fasting, but you find you get cold easily, you are probably not fat-adapted yet. You may have an underlying insulin resistance situation. Chromium is an important trace mineral that can help keep insulin sensitive and can help you become more adapted to fat-burning.

5. Low vitamin B1, B2, B3, B5, and B6
If you’re deficient in B vitamins, you could have a hard time making cellular energy because the mitochondria can’t work. Taking these B vitamins through nutritional yeast may help increase your overall energy as well as the warmth of your body.

Do you have chronic sinus congestion? This may be why!

Timestamps
0:00 Two reasons for chronic sinus congestion
0:13 Fungal infection and chronic sinus congestion
0:39 Best remedy for fungal infection
2:03 Best remedy for viral sinus congestion

In this video, we’re going to talk about the two reasons for chronic sinus congestion.

If you have chronic sinus congestion, it is commonly one of two things: a fungal infection or a virus—particularly the rhinovirus.

The most common fungal infection that causes chronic sinus congestion is Aspergillus fumigatus. This often occurs after taking an antibiotic that destroys the good microbes that keep this fungus at bay.

There are a few things you can do to get rid of this fungus. First, you can use some natural antibiotics such as oregano and garlic. Next, you should avoid sugar and milk. And finally, you should avoid iron supplements—fungus uses iron as food.

Additionally, you want to do keto and intermittent fasting. This will help starve off the fungus and strengthen the immune system.

If you have the rhinovirus, then you likely get congestion seasonally. The worst thing you can do is to keep consuming sugar and carbs. This will keep your immune system weak. Zinc and vitamin D are very important for strengthening your immune system. Get plenty of these vitamins daily through natural sources.

In this video, we’re going to talk about how you can be calm instantly. If you are constantly wound up and just need an instant dose of calmness, this video is for you.

The sensation of being calm is greatly affected by your neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters are similar to hormones. However, instead of being transported through the blood, they are transported through the nervous system.

The neurotransmitter GABA is inhibitory—this means that it calms everything down and relaxes you. It can decrease unhealthy impulses, anxiety, panic attacks, and depression.

In fact, when you have a drink at happy hour, what’s causing the happiness you experience is the GABA that is released. The problem is, the GABA goes away as soon as you stop drinking, which makes for an unhealthy habit or addiction. This is why you often feel anxiety, restlessness, and sleeplessness as withdrawal symptoms.

Instead of using alcohol or other toxic substances to increase GABA, you can drink lemon balm tea. This is a powerful natural GABA enhancer that significantly increases calmness instantly.

Ever wonder why vitamin A is named retinol? Could it have something to do with the retina? Find out.

Today I want to explain why vitamin A is named retinol. Vitamin A has everything to do with supporting the retina. The retina is an extension of the central nervous system that is sticking out of your skull deep in your eye. It has certain receptors that are sensitive to light, allowing you to see.

Vitamin A helps form photosensitive pigment in the retina called visual purple or rhodopsin. This pigment converts light into electrical signals. One of the first symptoms of a vitamin A deficiency is the loss of night vision. Vitamin A (retinol) helps you see in the dark.

Vitamin A is also needed to help:
• Decrease the risk of infection
• Support healthy mucous membranes
• Prevent dry eyes
• Decrease the symptoms and complications of measles

You can’t get your required vitamin A from vegetables. Vegetables provide the precursor to vitamin A, which has to be converted. But, it’s only converted in a very small amount. The best source of the active form of vitamin A (retinol) is cod liver oil. Cod liver oil also has vitamin D and omega-3 fatty acids (DHA and EPA). You may want to avoid taking the synthetic version of vitamin A (retinyl palmitate), which can have complications.

In this video, we’re going to talk about how you can detoxify thousands of chemicals from your body safely with food.

There are many toxins that we encounter in our environment—bisphenol A, PCBs, heavy metals, toxic plastics, and biosolids. Biosolids are treated sewage sludge. This contains over 60,000 toxic substances—this is the stuff that goes into a sewage treatment plant.

There are over 80,000 different toxins, known as xenobiotics, that you’re exposed to on a daily basis.

Your body has a defense mechanism against these toxins. It’s a series of detoxification pathways that turns these toxic substances into harmless particles. The particles are then eliminated through your waste and urine.

The best foods for detoxifying your body are cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, kale, arugula, and bok choy.

You can also take bile salts, probiotics, and garlic. Rosemary, thyme, and clove are other good detoxifiers.

Keep in mind that many toxins cause free radicle damage in the body. Your body naturally creates antioxidants that help prevent free radicle damage—especially when you fast. Prolonged fasting and intermittent fasting are great for helping the body detox.

Fasting puts your body in a state of autophagy, which not only accelerates the repair of damage in the body, but it also helps clear out toxic pathogens.
