2:26 Vitamin E functions
3:46 Vitamin E deficiency

Today we’re going to talk about the most important function of vitamin E. The most important function of vitamin E is that it helps stabilize cell membranes.

What’s interesting about the cell membrane is that it has a double layer of fat. It has both saturated and unsaturated fatty acids. People are worried about avoiding saturated fats, but the cell membrane is actually made out of saturated fat and cholesterol.

Vitamin E benefits:

• Prevents oxidation of the cell parts
• It’s a significant antioxidant
• Prevents retinopathy
• Supports glutathione
• Prevents nerve damage

Most of the vitamin E is stored in the liver and fat cells. But, a significant amount of vitamin E is stored in the pituitary gland. Important hormones like estrogen, testosterone, progesterone, and cortisol originate as a controlling hormone in your pituitary. Because these hormones are made out of cholesterol and fat, you need high levels of vitamin E to help protect them from being oxidized.

Vitamin E can also help as a natural remedy for symptoms like hot flashes during menopause. This is because during menopause, estrogen goes down, and if you don’t have enough vitamin E to compensate, then hot flashes can kick in.

When you take vitamin E, always take the natural form that includes all of the tocopherols and tocotrienols.

Vitamin E may also help decrease fibrosis of the liver, and it may help your muscles become stronger.

Typically someone won’t be deficient in vitamin D because of the diet. A vitamin E deficiency usually has to do with absorption.

Why Keto Gives You More Energy

It’s possible that keto gives you more energy than other diets, especially high-carb diets. Here’s why.

0:33 ATP
1:43 The body’s fuel
1:51 Glucose versus ketones as fuel
2:16 Keto and energy
3:10 Keto fatigue and keto flu

In this video, we’re going to talk about keto and energy. I want to explain why you’re going to experience more energy on the keto diet versus another diet.

There is something called the Krebs cycle. The Krebs cycle is an entire pathway from start to finish of how food fuel gets turned into and converted into the energy that the body uses called ATP. ATP is the energy currency that the body needs to get the job done. I’m talking about the millions of biochemical reactions that occur in the body.

The body’s fuel can’t use fats or glucose directly. It has two be converted through the Krebs cycle.

This all happens inside the matrix, which is inside of the mitochondria. ATP provides the energy to drive the biochemical reactions in the entire body.

You can use glucose as fuel, ketones as fuel, or even amino acids as fuel.

• 100g of glucose will give 8.7kg of ATP
• 100g of ketones will give 10.5kg of ATP

As you can see, beta-hydroxybutyrate gives more ATP with the same amount of material. This is why when you go on a ketogenic diet, your energy goes up. If you don’t experience more energy on keto, then we need to look deeper into the chemistry that’s going on with the Krebs cycle.

You need certain vitamins and minerals to activate this chemistry. Without sufficient amounts of nutrients, you can’t generate energy. Not having these nutrients could also be why some people experience things like keto fatigue or the keto flu when starting the keto diet.

Catie’s Testimonial

Following a head injury sustained in a car accident two years ago, Catie experienced many symptoms that adversely affected her life: her eyesight and mobility were affected, and she was put on several medications, including an anti-depressant, anti-anxiety, an anti-seizure medication, a thyroid medication, and Adderall. “By chance” she found Dr. Joe’s book, Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself, and soon began practicing his meditations. Two years later, Catie has finally recovered and renewed her body.

Today we’re going to talk about the vegetables with the lowest carb ratios.

When we’re talking about net carbs, we’re talking about taking the total carb value and taking away the fiber. We do this because fiber doesn’t have an effect on insulin or blood sugars.

Healthy vegetables that have less than 1 carb per cup:

• Beet greens
• Arugula
• Lettuce
• Bok choy
• Chard
• Endive
• Mustard greens
• Spinach
• Sprouts
• Romaine
• White cress

You’re allowed 20-50 grams of carbs per day on the healthy keto eating plan. Sometimes when people do keto, they’re afraid to eat too many vegetables because of the carbs. But, if you consume these low-carb veggies, the carbs are basically insignificant. These vegetables won’t stop you from losing weight, and they provide benefits like fiber and nutrients.

Healthy vegetables that have less than 3 carbs per cup:

• Avocado
• Asparagus
• Celery
• Chili pepper
• Cucumber
• Eggplant
• Mushroom
• Pickles
• Radish
• Zucchini
• Cabbage

High-carb vegetables:

• Artichoke
• Pumpkin
• Rutabaga
• Turnip
• Tomato
• Beet
• Potato
• Corn
• Squash
• Peas

4:23 Nutrients needed for DNA repair

In this video, we’re going to talk about the aging face. Is there any way to help reverse aging? Is there an anti-aging solution, or can you slow down the skin aging process?

Unfortunately, aging is inevitable. Everyone is going to age. Some people have accelerated aging. Other people don’t. A lot of it has to do with your environment, as well as the strength of your ability to recover and repair. There are certain nutrients that are really necessary for the repair of your DNA, and that relates to how quickly you age.

Typically what happens with the skin aging process:

• Lines or wrinkles
• The skin on top of the eyelids and cheeks become very thin
• A loss of collagen and elasticity
• Atrophy and sagging
• Dark circles
• The tissue above the eye starts drooping
• Bone loss around the face
• Thin lips
• Platysma atrophy

There are really two things happening:

1. You have the break down of tissue
2. You have the build up of tissue

The break down of tissue could be caused by:

• Oxidation
• Smoking
• Excessive sun
• Chemicals
• Alcohol
• Drugs
• Sugar
• Junk food
• Stress

You could help build up the tissue with:

• Regular exercise
• Fasting
• Antioxidant foods

Antioxidant foods for anti-aging:

• Cruciferous vegetables
• Seafood
• Grass-fed meat
• Eggs

Nutrients needed for DNA repair:

• B3
• Magnesium
• Zinc
• Folate
• DHA
• Vitamin C

Organic vs Inorganic Minerals: Biggest Confusion

1:34 The shocking truth about mineral products

In this video, I want to talk about organic vs. inorganic minerals. There’s a lot of confusion about this topic, and I want to clear things up.

When many people think about organic, they think about the food that is grown without pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and antibiotics. However, there’s another type of organic as it relates to minerals.

Organic minerals are plant-based minerals. These are in your vegetables as well as animal products (which get their minerals from plants too).

When we talk about inorganic minerals, we’re talking about rocks and minerals in the soil. Only plants can convert those rocks or elemental minerals into an organic form.

Inorganic minerals are not easily absorbed by the body, so it’s difficult to gain any benefits from them. Organic minerals are far more bioavailable.

Our bodies are not meant to take and consume spoonfuls of soil. We have to consume plants and animals to benefit from the minerals.

There’s a huge difference between organic and inorganic minerals. Avoid supplements and other products with inorganic minerals—they aren’t bioavailable.

Instead, get your minerals from foods or supplements with organic minerals.

The Hidden Source of Acne: Surprising

1:12 A deeper look at the different types of dairy
5:00 Dairy you may be able to consume

Today we’re going to talk about the hidden source of acne. I’ve done other videos on this topic that relate to high-carb diets. This is because high amounts of carbohydrates trigger insulin, which then is converted to androgens. So, a low-carb diet or healthy keto diet may help get rid of acne.

However, people who are sensitive to dairy can get acne despite consuming dairy products that are low in carbohydrates. It has to do with a few different things.

• Growth factors and hormones (androgens and estrogens)
• Low-fat
• Protein allergy
• Lactose intolerance
• A1 (casein)
• A2 (casein) – may be less inflammatory

How to get rid of acne?
If you’ve tried keto, but your acne hasn’t improved, you may want to cut out dairy. If you have a hard time eliminating dairy from your diet, you may want to try:

• Goat cheese
• 100% grass-fed organic cheese

A Major Hidden Reason for Hair Loss, Especially Alopecia

Today we’re going to talk about one of the major hidden reasons for hair loss. Have you heard of vitamin H? You might know it as biotin. Biotin acts as a cofactor for certain enzymes, especially for the hair and skin.

Biotin deficiency symptoms:

• Hair loss (alopecia)
• Thinning hair
• Brittle nails
• Skin rash
• Loss of hair color
• Mild depression
• Muscle pain
• Extreme tiredness

It’s important to know what could be causing a biotin deficiency. It’s probably not from a lack of biotin in your diet, because biotin is in a lot of different foods. Raw eggs also have a certain chemical that blocks biotin absorption. But, to have this happen, you would have to consume 6-8 raw eggs every day for several months.

Foods rich in biotin:

• Almonds
• Eggs
• Onions
• Tomatoes
• Peanuts
• Salmon
• Romaine lettuce
• Cauliflower

The two main biotin deficiency causes:

• Not enough good intestinal bacteria
• The inability to absorb biotin in the small intestine

There can be other hair loss causes. But, if you have hair loss, and you’ve tried a lot of other different things, the hidden reason for hair loss could be a vitamin B deficiency.

How to help stop hair loss in this situation?

• Take a biotin supplement
• Take probiotics

Apple Cider Vinegar and Mineral Absorption

Here’s what you need to know about apple cider vinegar and mineral absorption.

3:46 How to build up hydrochloric acid

Today we’re going to talk about apple cider vinegar and mineral absorption. Yes, apple cider vinegar may help with mineral absorption, but I want to explain a few things about this.

Normally, in your stomach, you have a very acidic acid called hydrochloric acid. The pH of your stomach should be between 1-3. There are three main things your stomach acid is supposed to do.

1. It helps you break down protein
2. It helps kill pathogens
3. It helps with mineral absorption

Having the right amount of acid in your stomach can make minerals more bioavailable. If you don’t have enough stomach acid, then the absorption of certain minerals won’t be as efficient. We need this strong acid in the stomach to help absorb nutrients.

These minerals can include:

• Calcium
• Iron
• Magnesium
• Zinc
• Copper
• Cobalt

You also may not have 100% absorption of:

• Folic acid
• Vitamin C
• Vitamin D
• Vitamin A

 Causes of low stomach acid:

• Age
• Antacids
• Hypothyroidism
• Anemia
• H-pylori
• Gastric bypass

Achlorhydria: Where you have zero stomach acid.

Hypochlorhydria: Where you have low stomach acid.

Both of the above conditions can affect the absorption of minerals. They can also cause an issue called SIBO, which can affect your absorption of nutrients.

Can apple cider vinegar (ACV) help fix low stomach acid?
Apple cider vinegar can help with the absorption of food. There are also a lot of other apple cider benefits, and apple cider uses. But, fixing hydrochloric acid itself is not necessarily one of the effects of apple cider vinegar. It can help with mineral absorption, and it may even help inhibit microbes from growing in the small intestine.

But to actually build up hydrochloric acid there are other nutrients you need, such as:

• Chloride
• Sodium
• Potassium
• Zinc
• Iodine

Another great natural remedy to help build up apple cider vinegar is called betaine hydrochloride.

In this video, we’re going to talk about adrenal fatigue, and how to help prevent adrenal fatigue on keto.

What causes adrenal fatigue on keto?

When you start a keto plan, you lose a lot of water. This is because most people are on a high-carb diet, which causes fluid retention and sodium retention. When you get on keto, you lose fluid and salts. Salt is needed to support healthy adrenal glands. If the adrenal glands are already fatigued, when you start keto, you will lose more salt.

This means you may need more salt. But, if you’re going to do salt, you should always do sea salt. The best salt I would recommend is the Himalayan pink sea salt. Himalayan pink sea salt is unrefined. I recently found that table salt has some interesting ingredients, including dextrose (sugar). Table salt is a refined product. When you get salt, you want something more natural. You want something that has the whole package.

Himalayan pink sea salt benefits:

• It’s unrefined
• It has 84 minerals
• It’s unpolluted
• It has trace minerals
• It is antimicrobial
• It can help support healthy blood sugars
• It can help prevent cramping on keto

Symptoms that you need more sea salt:

1. Keto fatigue
2. Keto flu

You may also want to consume sea salt if you experience:

• Low blood pressure
• Fatigue
• Lightheadedness

**If you crave salt, you may also need more sea salt in your diet.

The Most Important Benefit of Autophagy: Will Surprise You

You really need to know about this important benefit of autophagy. Check this out.

4:08 Why is there damage to the mitochondria?
5:03 Can autophagy clean up the damage?

Today we’re going to talk about the most important benefit of autophagy.

What is autophagy?
Autophagy is a condition where your body is recycling old and damaged proteins in the body. I’m not talking just about hair and muscle. I’m talking about those little enzyme protein machines that do the work of the body. They’re at the cellular level, and they make body tissue.

Benefits of autophagy:

• It decreases the risk of disease
• It will help recycle protein as a survival mechanism
• It can help reduce pathogens in the body
• It protects neurons and heart cells
• It gets rid of advanced glycated end products and amyloid plaquing

**The most important benefit of autophagy is anti-cancer.

The difference between a normal cell and a cancer cell has to do with this one thing.

A normal cell has something called mitochondrial respiration.

A cancer cell has damage to this respiratory mechanism. When you damage this system, the cell starts to activate an ancient pathway that’s capable of fermenting glucose without the use of oxygen.

Cancer cells are hungry for glucose. Why would anyone want to consume a lot of sugar or glucose if they have cancer?

But why is there damage to the respiratory mechanism in the mitochondria? My theory is that it has something to do with the DNA that gets damaged. I believe it gets damaged because it’s simply not protected. Autophagy may have the ability to clean up this damage in the mitochondria.

Eat Avocados and Eggs for Amazing Hair and Nails

Check out what consuming avocados and eggs can do for your hair, nails, and skin.

Avocado Recipes:

0:55 Healthy fats for healthy hair and nails
1:15 Avocado benefits for hair, skin, and nails
3:15 Egg benefits for hair, skin, and nails

Today I want to talk about the benefits of avocados and eggs for healthy skin and for healthy hair and nails. I’m not talking about a topical mixture you would apply to your hair. Topical mixtures or oils like avocado oil might give you shiny hair, but your hair won’t absorb any nutrients from it because your hair is dead protein.

If you want really nice healthy hair, healthy skin, and healthy nails, then you would want to consume healthy fats like avocado and eggs with the yolks. Not use them topically.

Avocados are loaded with carotenoids. Carotenoids are a fat-soluble phytonutrient. Because there is a good amount of fats in avocados, you’re going to absorb these phytonutrients much better. If you combine avocado and eggs, you will have even better absorption. Consuming eggs and avocados on the keto diet, while also doing intermittent fasting, can result in really nice hair, nails, and skin.

Avocado benefits for hair, skin, and nails:

• Active vitamin A
• B5
• B6
• Copper
• Folate
• Vitamin K
• Magnesium
• Biotin
• Vitamin E
• Vitamin C
• Antioxidant properties
• Anti-inflammatory properties
• Monosaturated fats
• Oleic acid — 68%

Egg benefits for hair, skin, and nails:

• Highest quality protein
• All vitamins (except vitamin C)
• Minerals
• Trace minerals
• Essential fatty acids
• Phospholipids
• Vitamins A, D, E
• Carotenoids
• Omega 3
