In this video, I want to talk about keto critics and the importance of nutrition.

I recently met someone who was on the ketogenic diet and was feeling discouraged. Someone told her she should forget about keto and intermittent fasting and just enjoy herself.

But, that doesn’t make a lot of sense. Why?

• This way of thinking assumes eating healthy is not enjoyable (people on keto are satisfied eating wonderful healthy food)
• Pleasure foods end up being painful
• Pleasure foods increase dopamine
• The way people usually die nowadays is usually slow

Don’t listen to the keto naysayers. Your longevity has everything to do with what you eat, and eating healthy can be enjoyable.

Today, I want to talk about pine oil and the different benefits of pine oil.

What is pine oil? — Pine oil is an essential oil. Pine oil is a natural oil that comes from a pine tree and is concentrated. A lot of the pine oil benefits we’re going to cover come from its interesting antimicrobial properties.

Some people use pine oil disinfectant around the house, but the kind of pine essential oil that I’m talking about is the kind that you can:

• Consume
• Use topically
• Inhale

Pine oil uses:

• For dandruff
• For itchy skin
• For achy joints
• For respiratory infections

One of the best health benefits of pine oil is that it helps disinfect and fight:

• Bacteria
• Viruses
• Fungus
• Candida
• Lyme
• E. coli
• Salmonella

How to use pine oil (always start out with a small amount and use more if needed):

• Use it topically – Use 2 drops of pine oil mixed with 2 tablespoons of coconut oil. Rub it in.

• Orally – Drink 2 drops of pine oil mixed in an 8oz. glass of water.

• Inhalation – Put 2 drops in a diffuser and breath it in slowly.

The Important Nutrient – Longevity Link

In this video, let’s talk about nutrients and your lifespan. How much of an influence do nutrients have on how long you live?

You are as strong as your weakest link. There are various weaknesses within our bodies that fail and then shorten our lifespan.

Your body is constantly trying to repair DNA damage. When your body fails to repair the DNA damage, or the free radical damage is too strong, you start to age, and your body begins to breakdown.

One study reports that DNA damage from micronutrient deficiencies may cause cancer.

Why are nutrients important? Because nutrients are involved in the repair action, which helps keep the DNA stable. If you’re deficient in a nutrient at a certain level, you’re going to be susceptible to a breakdown within the system.

The triage theory:
If you have somewhat of a deficiency, your body is going to ration out nutrients, and your genes and enzymes that are involved in longevity and repair will suffer.

Unfortunately, there are no real symptoms of having a shorter lifespan. That’s why I really want you to understand that you need to make sure you have all of the nutrients in your diet to extend your life.

Brazil Nuts May Not be the Best Source of Selenium Unless You….

I wanted to create a short video about Brazil nuts and selenium. Are Brazil nuts a good source of selenium?

Benefits of selenium:

• Selenium is great for people with Hashimoto’s
• Selenium acts as an antioxidant
• Selenium helps you convert thyroid hormone T4 to the active form T3

Are Brazil nuts good? Well, the problem with Brazil nuts is that they have high amounts of phytic acid.

Phytic acid binds minerals and blocks:

• Selenium
• Zinc
• Iron
• Magnesium
• Calcium
• Chromium
• Manganese
• Copper

How to consume Brazil nuts:

• If you want to consume Brazil nuts, you have to soak them in water overnight before eating them. This will help get rid of the phytic acid.

• You could also consume roasted Brazil nuts. But, the problem with roasting the nuts is that heat destroys some heat-sensitive vitamins and beneficial oils.

Brazil nuts are not the best source of selenium unless you soak them overnight. Another great way to get the health benefits of selenium is to consume seafood.

Pregnant and Diabetic or Insulin Resistant? WATCH THIS

In this video, we’re going to talk about pregnancy and diabetes. If you have pre-diabetes, insulin resistance, or you’re a diabetic while pregnant, there are several things you need to know.

What is insulin resistance? — This is a condition where your body is not able to absorb insulin. Your body has to make more insulin than it needs, and that excess insulin creates a lot of problems. Your blood sugars may be normal, but you have a big problem under the surface.

HOMA-IR is a test you can take before you get pregnant to check and see if you have insulin resistance.

Complications from having blood sugar problems while pregnant:

• The baby is more likely to become a diabetic
• There is a higher risk of a stillbirth
• The mother may have a problem with fertility
• The baby may have stunted growth
• The baby may have birth defects
• The baby may have pre-eclampsia

The big problem with insulin resistance, pre-diabetes, or diabetes is that your ability to absorb certain essential nutrients is impaired. If you’re pregnant and you have insulin resistance, you need to be taking nutrients or eating foods rich in nutrients to prevent complications.

Nutrients you need:

• Vitamin C
• Vitamin A
• Vitamin E
• Magnesium
• Potassium
• Manganese
• Zinc
• Chromium
• Selenium
• Folate
• B1
• Biotin

Symptoms of insulin resistance:

• Belly fat
• Frequent urination at night
• Not satisfied after eating
• Tired after eating
• Low blood sugar symptoms
• Craving carbs

Action steps:

• Get on the healthy ketogenic diet (before you’re pregnant or during pregnancy)

• Do intermittent fasting (only before you’re pregnant, not during pregnancy or while breast-feeding)

Can Dairy Affect Your Hormones?

http://bit.ly/2DH0d6o

In this video, we’re going to talk about dairy products and hormones. Is dairy bad? Can dairy affect the hormones?

Well, milk is designed to feed a growing calf, and it’s loaded with different types of hormones. The two main hormones in dairy are estrogen and IGF.

The different types of estrogen in milk as well as the IGF, are growth hormones which target the:

• Prostate
• Breast
• Uterus
• Ovary

The fattier the dairy, the more hormones it has. I’m not against dairy, but some people are already estrogen dominant or have a hormone imbalance. People with these types of issues should stay away from dairy products for a while.

Hormones in dairy (milk, cheese, yogurt) can affect the body. To minimize the damage:

• Go for organic dairy
• Go for grass-fed dairy

You can also consume cruciferous vegetables to give you an antiestrogenic effect. You may want to try giving up all dairy products for one week to help determine if you’re sensitive to dairy or not.

Today, I want to share a little bit about what I learned from the Spanish Flu Pandemic of 1918.

This is an interesting story about an incredibly deadly flu. It’s estimated that the Spanish flu caused 50 to 100 million deaths worldwide.

Interesting things about the 1918 flu pandemic:

1. They didn’t really die from the virus itself. The majority of deaths occurred because of:

• ARDS

• Superinfection

2. Many of these deaths involved people in their 20’s. Why?

• People were getting too much aspirin.

• Four years earlier, there was a huge shift in diet. There was a lot more canned food, which decreases zinc in food. There also wasn’t much of a variety of food available. This caused nutritional deficiencies.

• The 1918 Spanish flu pandemic occurred in January, which is the peak time for vitamin D deficiencies. In the winter months, the risk of illnesses like upper respiratory infections goes way up.

What is the main thing I’ve learned from the flu pandemic? — The importance of nutrition. There is a link between nutritional deficiencies and health problems. Getting the nutrients you need is one of the most important factors in preventing health problems.

Someone recently had a question about thyroid nodules. What’s behind thyroid nodules, and what can you do about them?

What causes thyroid nodules?
• A selenium deficiency

Most of the selenium and iodine in the body are stored in the thyroid. The thyroid needs both of these trace minerals in the right ratios. Selenium is just as important as iodine in thyroid function.

Selenium has the ability to:
• Get rid of free radical damage
• Get rid of oxidation
• Reduce antibodies

What type of selenium should you take?
• You need an organic selenium
• Either take selenomethionine or selenocysteine (not both)

Two more things to help enhance your results:

• Take vitamin E (not the synthetic version)
• Take cod liver oil

What is Epigenetics: In Simple Terms

Today, we’re going to talk about epigenetics. I want to share with you, in simple terms, a little bit about this exciting field.

What is epigenetics? Epigenetics means “above genetics.”

Epigenetics explained:

• Genes are small sections of the DNA.
• DNA is the blueprint for building a body.

The DNA and genes can be compared to a CD with a playlist in a certain order. But, you need someone to play the CD—that’s what epigenetics does.

The DNA or gene is not set in stone. Just because you have certain genetics doesn’t mean anything. It’s really the epigenetics.

You are in charge of your DNA. You can do something about your genes, and it has to do with the epigenetic triggers. These environmental triggers turn on or off the genes.

Epigenetics triggers:

• What you eat (the nutrients in the food)
• When you eat (fasting)
• Cold/Heat
• Stress
• Sleep
• Exercise
• Mood
• Age

Today, we’re going to talk about the toxic effects of nutrients if you take too much.

Try to get most of your vitamins and nutrients from food, or take supplements that are food-based. Having the right amount of vitamins and nutrients are, of course, a great thing. However, having too much can cause toxic side effects.

High amounts of synthetic vitamins can especially cause vitamin toxicity, which is damaging to the body. Having high amounts of trace minerals can also trigger toxicity symptoms.

Toxic effects that could occur from taking too much of these nutrients:

• Vitamin A – vision, bone pain, cancer, skin irritation
• Vitamin E – bleed easily, fatigue, weakness
• Vitamin D – hypercalcemia
• Vitamin C – diarrhea
• Iron – accumulates the liver and brain, constipation, hemochromatosis
• Iodine – low selenium enzymes, hyperthyroid
• Magnesium – diarrhea, low blood pressure, irregular heartbeat
• Selenium – alopecia, dermatitis
• Zinc – low copper absorption, fever, gastritis

Today, we’re going to talk about SIBO, and how SIBO can steal your nutrients. This is a much more common condition than you might think. One of the big problems with this condition is nutritional deficiencies.

What is SIBO? Normally your friendly bacteria should be in the large intestines, but when it gets into the small intestines, it becomes small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO).

When you eat, these microbes start fermenting carbohydrates and eating nutrients such as:

• B12
• Iron
• Bile

Symptoms of SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth) are:

• Bloating
• Abdominal pain
• Gas
• Nutritional deficiencies

What causes SIBO?

• Complication after surgery
• Not enough stomach acid

Natural remedies for SIBO?

• Take betaine hydrochloride
• Take apple cider vinegar
• Do intermittent fasting
• Avoid prebiotics (fiber) and probiotics or a combination of the two
• Take an herbal antibiotic (oregano, thyme, clove, garlic)

I recently had a question from someone who is a cyclist. They have low back pain and very tight hip flexors, what could they do about it?

One of the challenges that come with biking is doing a repetitive motion over and over. You’re working certain muscles more than others. Anytime you have a muscle on the body that is stronger than the opposing muscle, it can create an imbalance.

In this situation, you have a problem with an overdeveloped:

• Rectus Femoris
• Iliopsoas

What causes this low back pain? If these muscles are overdeveloped, it will keep you in a flexed state. You will lose the symmetry between the muscles on the front of the body, and the muscles on the back.

Action steps:
• Stretch
• Do yoga
• Strengthen the opposing muscle (glutes, hamstrings)

Why Do Some Diabetics Get Gangrene?

Take Dr. Berg’s Free Keto Mini-Course: http://pxlme.me/-i717vtY or go here: http://bit.ly/2RmaFDS

Download Keto Essentials
http://bit.ly/2DH0d6o

Today, we’re going to talk about gangrene. Why do some diabetics get gangrene, and others don’t?

What is gangrene?

When you get gangrene, the tissue in the feet and toes, and sometimes in the hands, start to turn:

• Black
• Yellow
• Red
• Green

With gangrene, your tissue is dying. This happens because you’re exposing the tissue to way too much sugar.

When you expose glucose to your vascular system, you get all sorts of destruction that is going to stop the blood flow to the tissue and nerves. You get:

• Oxidation
• Hemorrhaging
• Clotting
• The vascular system becomes thicker and more stiff

Symptoms of gangrene:

• Dead tissue
• Ulcers
• Severe nerve damage
• Pain
• Numbness

The more sugar in the blood, the more vascular problems you’re going to have. To avoid gangrene, you need to limit your sugar intake. Get on the ketogenic diet, and start doing intermittent fasting.

What to do for gangrene:

In 2004 the FDA approved maggot therapy. This is where maggots clean up the dead tissue and clear out the infection. This may actually be more effective than certain surgeries because it:

• Disinfects the area
• Stimulates healing

The maggots also release enzymes and release a broad-spectrum antibiotic to kill the infection. Within one or two days, the infection could be completely cleaned out.

Other things you can do:

• Change your diet (eliminate sugar)
• Take benfotiamine (fat-soluble vitamin B)
