In this video, I’m going to go in-depth into why you might be experiencing right-sided abdominal pain after eating, and what you can do about it.

This pain would be underneath your right rib cage. Sometimes it can refer to the shoulder and into the scapula, or even into the neck and head on the right side.

Your liver and gallbladder are both on your right side, underneath that stretching to the left, you have the pancreas. Then you have different ducts that drain from the liver into the gallbladder and then into the small intestine.

What goes wrong with this system that can cause abdominal pain and bloating?

1. Stones
2. Sludge (pre-stone material)
3. Spasm (smooth muscle)
4. Inflammation/scarring
5. Dilation – pressure

What are the root causes of these issues?

• Route for detox
• Estrogen (xenoestrogens)
• Insulin (sympathetic dominance)
• Lean protein (causes irritation)
• Frequent eating (low repair)
• Omega 6 oils (creates inflammation)

What to do:
• Do healthy keto and intermittent fasting with plenty of whole foods and cruciferous vegetables.

Freezing Vegetables: Do You Lose Nutrients?

Do frozen vegetables lose nutrients? The answer is no.

However, there are some vegetables that you have to blanch before you freeze them. Blanching helps vegetables last longer in the freezer, but depending on how long you blanch them, it can reduce certain nutrients.

Blanching on average:

• Reduces vitamin C by 25%
• Reduces folate by 35%
• Reduces vitamin B1 by 10%

Correct blanching times for certain vegetables:

• Asparagus – 2 min.
• Green beans -3 min.
• Broccoli -3 min.
• Brussels sprouts -3 min.
• Cabbage – 1 min.
• Carrots – 2 min.
• Cauliflower – 3 min.
• Eggplant – 4 min.
• Squash – 3 min.

You do not have to blanch:
• Kale
• Berries
• Greens
• Peppers
• Tomatoes

Half of the vegetables you consume should be raw. The other half can be cooked. The best way to consume them cooked is sautéed, the next best way is to steam them.

In this video, we’re going to cover the benefits of anise seed.

Anise has a bit of a licorice taste. It has a good amount of iron and manganese, which are two trace minerals.

Anise seed benefits:
• It can help improve your mood
• It can support a stomach ulcer
• It’s antibacterial
• It can positively affect your blood sugars
• It has anti-inflammatory properties
• It can decrease coughing
• It can increase saliva production

The biggest health benefits of anise seed are for your stomach. It can:
• Reduce stomach bloating
• Reduce cramps
• Reduce nauseousness
• Reduce gas
• Reduce indigestion

Anise seed increases bile production. If you can’t do bile salts, anise seed is a great alternative. It may also help reduce gallstones and constipation.

If you have stomach bloating, you should also be doing intermittent fasting.

Benfotiamine: Why Every Diabetic Should Take It

Take Dr. Berg’s Free Keto Mini-Course: http://pxlme.me/-i717vtY or go here: http://bit.ly/2RmaFDS

Overview of Healthy Ketogenic Diet and Intermittent Fasting:

Download Keto Essentials
http://bit.ly/2DH0d6o

In this video, we’re going to cover what you need to know about a nutrient called benfotiamine.

What is benfotiamine?
Benfotiamine is a synthetic B1. Vitamin B1 is naturally water-soluble. Benfotiamine is a fat-soluble B1 vitamin. This is one of the only synthetic vitamins that I like because it has virtually no side-effects.

I believe every diabetic should be taking benfotiamine. Vitamin B1 is involved in the engine in the mitochondria that involves glucose metabolism. The more glucose you have running through the machine, the higher the blood sugar, and the more depleted of vitamin B1 you’re going to become.

With diabetes, there are four main tissues involved, and B1 can help with all of them:

1. Nerves/brain – Neuropathy
2. Eyes – Retina
3. Kidney – Nephron
4. Heart vessels – Microvascular endothelial dysfunction

Benfotiamine:

• 3-5x more absorption
• Protects against oxidation and AGEs
• Decreases A1C
• Protection

When it comes to benfotiamine dosage, consider taking at least 600mg of benfotiamine per day, and you can spread it out. You should also be doing healthy keto and intermittent fasting.

Are Grass-Fed Burgers Really Worth the Extra Cost?

Today, we’re going to discuss the difference between grass-fed burgers and conventional burgers. Are grass-fed burgers worth the extra cost?

On the package of grass-fed burger patties it will often say:
• Natural
• Handcrafted
• Fresh
• Free-range
• 100% pure beef

But, all of the above actually means nothing legally.

The best burgers to have, if you can find them, are not just grass-fed beef but 100% grass-finished and organic.

If you buy grass-fed beef burgers, and it doesn’t say grass-finished, chances are it was finished with grains. Finished means fattened. If it doesn’t say organic, then it’s GMO.

Burgers have:
• 0 carbs
• 14% protein
• 30% fat
• 49% water

GMO – Genetically modified organism
GMO is a genetic modification of something. We’re talking about grains, primarily corn and soy.

GMO grains expose the cows to glyphosate. If it’s organic grains, the cows are not exposed to glyphosate.

Glyphosate is an herbicide, and it’s linked to Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

• Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is one of the most common cancers in the United States
• Farms use about 1 pound of glyphosate per acre of cropland
• Every year over 80,000 metric tons of glyphosate are put into the environment in the United States alone

If you’re in the grocery store and they don’t have grass-fed organic, only grass-fed or organic, which should you choose? In this video, I’ll let you know.

Organic vs. grass-fed:

Organic
• If something says its 100% organic, then it’s organic
• If something just says organic, then it’s 95.99% organic
• Organic means without pesticides, antibiotics, hormones, or biosolids (sewage sludge)

Grass-fed
• There is no legal definition of grass-fed (it needs to be grass-finished)
• Grain-fed beef is heavy in omega 6 fatty acids, grass-fed is not (omega 6 fatty acids are more inflammatory, omega 3 fatty acids are more anti-inflammatory)
• Grass-fed beef has CLA, and more vitamin A and vitamin E

Ideally, you want to consume grass-fed grass-finished 100% certified organic. I personally use a company called US Wellness Meats.

Natural Desiccated Thyroid: Why Some People React Badly

In this video, we’re going to talk about natural desiccated thyroid, and why some people feel worse when they take it.

We’re going to be talking about:

• Armour
• Nature Throid
• NP Thyroid

These all contain pig thyroid extracts. Why would someone feel worse with something more natural versus something synthetic? It could be because Armour, Nature Throid, and NP Thyroid have additional ingredients that you’re reacting to like dextrose or cornstarch.

If you have extreme fatigue or flu-like symptoms, you may have Hashimoto’s. The majority of people who have hypothyroidism have Hashimoto’s. It’s almost as if you’re allergic to your own thyroid gland.

What I would do if I had this condition:

• Switch to Synthroid (synthetic T4)
• Take Thytrophin PMG (thyroid extract without the hormones)

With healthy keto and intermittent fasting, the need for thyroid hormones will go down, and it will help you drop inflammation. You may also want to take vitamin D.

In this video, we’re going to talk about Armour Thyroid and Synthroid. What is the main difference between them, and is Armour Thyroid better than Synthroid?

Synthroid

Synthroid is a synthetic thyroid hormone—T4. T4 has to be converted into T3 to be active. Another name for T4 is levothyroid or levothyroxine.

• It takes 4 weeks to start making changes.
• If you’re not converting T4 to T3, Synthroid is not going to work.

Armour Thyroid

This is a natural extract from a pig’s thyroid.

• It contains T4, T3, and calcitonin (an important thyroid hormone).
• It takes 2 weeks to start making changes.

Some symptoms of a hypothyroid:

• Tired
• Cold
• Hair loss
• Mental sluggishness
• Weight gain

*I believe most hypothyroid problems are secondary to something else.

Other natural thyroid extracts:
• Nature Throid
• NP Thyroid

If you have a negative reaction to T4, T3, or calcitonin, and you have extreme fatigue or flu-like symptoms—you may have Hashimoto’s. If you have Hashimoto’s and you take thyroid extracts, it will make you very tired. Or, you may also be having a reaction because of some of the inactive ingredients in the product.

Armour vs. Synthroid
I personally like Armour Thyroid, but I’m not telling you to take one versus the other. I just want to give you some information so that you can do further research.

If you’re going to have a cheat meal on the keto diet, which one is better to have—potato chips or french fries?

Heat breaks down starch, and it releases the sugar. A raw potato has zero effect on your blood sugar. But, when you start heating it, that’s when things start to go downhill.

On the glycemic index, below 55 is low, and above 70 is high.

• Fried potatoes or french fries are at 75 on the glycemic index.
• Potato chips are at 54 on the glycemic index.

Potato chips are better than french fries when you look at the glycemic index, but what about other factors.

Potato chips:

French fries are often consumed with ketchup or meat, which can cause the glycemic index to be higher than 75, which can cause additional problems.

French fries are usually consumed with a meal. Potato chips are usually consumed as a snack, which adds a spike in insulin.

Having a potato chip at the end of a meal instead of a snack would be a better choice, especially if it was cooked in olive oil or avocado oil.

Potato chips versus french fries, which one is better: Overall, potato chips are better to have than french fries.

However, when starches like potato chips and french fries are cooked above 250 degrees Fahrenheit, it creates a chemical called acrylamide. Acrylamide may cause cancer.

Are Carrots Okay to Eat on Keto?

In this video, we’re going to talk about carrots on keto. I want to answer questions like, are carrots good for you, and can I eat carrots on keto?

What is the glycemic index of carrots?
It’s 72, which is high.

What is the glycemic index?
It’s a scale of carbohydrates and how fast that carbohydrate will raise your blood sugar. Below 55 is low, above 70 is high.

But, we need to look at the whole picture.

The glycemic load is the amount of carbohydrates in a food. The glycemic load will take into consideration the fiber, as well.

The calculation is:
The glycemic index multiplied by the number of carbs divided by 100. Less than 10 would be low, over 21 would be high.

For carrots:

72 multiples by 4g divided by 100 = 2.88 (very low)

Even though carrots are high on the glycemic index, they have a lot of fiber which inhibits the glycemic reaction.

But, different variables, like taking the carrot juice out of the carrot fiber, or cooking the carrots, can raise the glycemic index.

Overall, are carrots healthy? Yes.
Are carrots one of the keto-friendly vegetables? Yes.

Why would someone get heart palpitations after eating? In this video, we’re going to talk about that.

What is a palpitation?
A palpitation is an irregular heartbeat—a skipped heartbeat or an extra heartbeat. It has to do with your cardiac pacemaker. Palpitations can be a precursor to more serious problems that have to do with the rhythm of the heartbeat.

What causes palpitations?
1. Digestion (gallbladder issues)
2. Low potassium
3. pH (too alkaline)
4. Caffeine, alcohol, a hyperthyroid condition

How to help stop heart palpitations:

1. For digestive problems
• Do intermittent fasting
• Avoid refined carbs and vegetable oils (do healthy keto)

2. For alkalinity
Low potassium, high cortisol, or low HCL can cause your body to be too alkaline.
• Do healthy keto
• Take apple cider vinegar

3. For low potassium
What causes low potassium?
• Diuretics (low potassium, low vitamin D, high insulin)
• Diarrhea
• Antacids (take apple cider vinegar)
• Low dietary potassium (consume 7-10 cups of vegetables per day)

Why Are French Fries So Addictive?

In this video, we’re going to talk about why french fries are addictive—especially from fast-food restaurants.

What’s in french fries?

• Fried potatoes
• Vegetable oil (corn, canola)
• Natural beef flavoring (wheat, milk)
• Dextrose
• Salt
• Citric acid
• TBHQ – preservative
• Sodium acid (pyrophosphate – color)

The big problem is that when you consume a french fry, you stimulate neurotransmitters in your brain. You actually stimulate the part of the brain that is involved in addictions. This part of the brain will increase the pleasure neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin.

When you add ketchup, you’re also adding high fructose corn syrup with additional corn syrup, which will exaggerate the effects of french fries on your blood sugars.

Glycation is the binding of a sugar molecule with a fat or a sugar molecule with a protein.

Glycation
• Decreases elasticity within your arteries, veins, and tendons
• Clogs up certain connections in the brain
• Creates sticky proteins in the body which accelerates aging
• Creates bloating
• Spikes insulin

Today, we’re going to talk about a great natural remedy for respiratory mucus.

This natural remedy will help you get mucus out of the lungs while your immune system clears out a virus and bacteria.

What is an expectorant?
An expectorant is a compound that’s used to increase fluid in the lungs, which allows the infected mucus to be released. It helps expel the mucus from your lungs.

What is ammonia chloride?
Ammonia chloride is a whole-body acidifier. This compound works very good for expelling mucus, and also for any type of inflammatory process like arthritis.

Ammonia chloride:
• Used in cough medicine
• Natural expectorant
• System acidifier
• Breaks down mucus

Licorice:
• Supports the flow of healthy mucus

How to get rid of mucus:
If you have mucus in the lungs, a great natural home remedy for chronic couch or to reduce mucus is to either take ammonia chloride and licorice separately or together. You can find these two remedies mixed together in something like salty licorice, for example. However, it’s important that what you choose does not contain a lot of sugar.

Today, we’re going to talk about how a vitamin D deficiency can affect your teeth.

This mainly occurs when you’re a baby before your teeth even come in. It’s basically rickets of your teeth. Rickets is a vitamin D deficiency. I believe vitamin D is probably the most important vitamin, and it works with vitamin K2. Vitamin K2 is very important for your teeth as well.

How a vitamin D deficiency can affect your teeth:

1. Enamel Hypoplasia (higher risk of cavities, white spots, pits/grooves, and sensitivity to cold/heat)

2. Missing teeth

3. Delayed teeth

Symptoms of a vitamin D deficiency:

• Low calcium
• Low back pain
• Inflammation
• Low immunity
• Loss of bone

Today we’re going to talk about the benefits of taking a cold shower.

Why take cold showers?
It all has to do with something called cryotherapy or cold therapy. This concept is based on hormesis. With hormesis, what you’re doing is adding a moderate amount of stress to create a beneficial effect.

By taking a 20 minute cold shower, you can increase norepinephrine by 200-300%. When you increase this nerve transmitter, you can:

• Drop inflammation
• Increase your antioxidant network (including glutathione)
• Increase your mitochondria
• Increase your T-cells

How to take cold showers to get these cold shower benefits:

Start out with maybe 30 seconds or a minute, and gradually increase the time you’re in the cold shower over time.

7 cold shower benefits:

1. Decrease muscle pain
2. Decrease joint pain
3. Speed up recovery
4. Decrease inflammation
5. Increase cognitive function
6. Increase mood
7. Increase metabolism

Will Your Blood Test Detect Vitamin Deficiencies?

Vitamin deficiencies affect your overall health, but will your blood test detect them?

CBC – Complete blood count (measures red blood cells, white blood cells, hemoglobin, and iron)

BMP – Basic metabolic panel (measures all basic organ systems and a few nutrients)

Neither of these tests will actually detect all of your nutritional deficiencies. What’s happening in the blood is not happening inside the cell.

Classical nutritional deficiencies – Severe deficiencies like scurvy, rickets, pellagra, or beriberi

Subclinical nutritional deficiencies – Could relate to repair, longevity, or protecting the immune system

Subclinical vitamin deficiency symptoms:

• Vitamin A – Problems with night vision
• Vitamin D – Low back pain
• Vitamin E – Weak muscles
• Vitamin K1 – Bruising
• Vitamin B1 – Anxiety
• Vitamin B2 – Cracked corners of the mouth or lips
• Biotin – Problems with your nails and hair loss
• Vitamin C – Bleeding gums and fatigue

How to test nutrient deficiencies:

Use a blood test that evaluates these nutrients off of your lymphocytes. A company called SpectraCell specializes in this.

The 9 Benefits of Heat Therapy

In this video, we’re going to talk about the incredible benefits of heat therapy.

If you recently created an injury where there’s inflammation, and you put heat on it, it’s going to make it worse. In that situation, you need to use cold therapy.

Heat therapy is really good for chronic conditions—especially chronic injuries.

Examples of heat therapy:

• Hot shower
• Steam room
• Sauna
• Jacuzzi
• Infrared
• Contrast bath therapy (alternating cold and heat)

9 Benefits of heat therapy:

1. Decreases arthritis
2. Decreases muscle spasm
3. Decreases muscle pain
4. Decreases muscle inflammation
5. Decreases pain in general
6. Decreases waste/CO2
7. Increases O2 – Blood flow
8. Decreases stiffness
9. Increases recovery

Why take hot showers?
There are certain genes that kick in when you add heat or cold, and they do different things.

Heat shock protein:

• Responds to stress
• Heat
• Oxidative stress
• Heavy metals
• Infection

Heat shock protein is a protein that responds to a certain amount of stress and then causes the body to adapt and do better. Heat shock protein actually protects the cell against misfolding.

Many chronic diseases have the accumulation of certain proteins that are non-functional and clog up function. Heat therapy can help prevent this from happening. When you add intermittent fasting, your body goes through autophagy, which cleans up the misfolded proteins.
