In this video, we’re going to cover the keto diet plan for beginners.

What is a ketone?
A ketone is not a fat, carbohydrate, or protein. It has characteristics of both a fat and a carbohydrate, but it’s not either. Ketones come from fat, and they are an alternative fuel source. You get ketones by lowering the carbohydrates in your diet, or by reducing your frequency of eating.

That’s why I recommend a low carb diet (ketogenic diet) with intermittent fasting. That way, you can maximize your ability to make ketones.

Benefits of ketones:

• Increases oxygen in the body
• Increases energy
• Supports the brain
• Supports the heart

Most of the body tissues can run on ketones, but some parts need glucose. However, you still don’t need to consume glucose. Your body can make glucose when it needs to through something called gluconeogenesis.

It takes time to start turning fat into ketones. The time it takes depends on how damaged your pancreas is.

How to get into ketosis:

• Lower your carbs
• Lower your frequency of eating

Why should you do ketosis?

• To lower insulin

High insulin levels cause insulin resistance.

Insulin resistance in behind:

• Pre-diabetes
• Diabetes
• Metabolic syndrome
• High blood pressure
• Fat in the gut area

More benefits of keto and intermittent fasting:

• Reduce fat in the liver
• Improve cognitive performance
• Improve mood
• Decrease blood pressure
• Decrease inflammation
• Improve energy
• Decrease belly fat
• Autophagy

* Your hunger goes away with the keto diet and intermittent fasting.

* Keto and intermittent fasting work best when combined.

* I recommend healthy keto over dirty keto.

* Don’t eat unless you’re hungry. With healthy keto, you will be full and satisfied.

* Autophagy starts after about 18 hours of fasting.

* When fasting drink fluids, take electrolytes and B vitamins, and take sea salt.

Common foods to focus on while on the ketogenic diet plan:

• Pasture-raised eggs
• Shellfish
• Fish
• Sardines
• Organic meats
• Cheese
• Olives
• Avocados
• Veggies
• Nuts
• Seeds

In this video, I want to talk to you about Dr. Jason Fung and intermittent fasting. Dr. Jason Fung is the top expert on intermittent fasting. Many of you already know about him, but if you haven’t heard about him, I recommend reading one of Jason Fung’s books called The Diabetes Code.

Dr. Jason Fung is a Canadian Nephrologist, which means he studies specializes in kidney function. He also has 3 best-selling books, and he’s co-founder of the Intensive Dietary Management Program.
There’s a lot of data that Dr. Jason Fung talks about, but what most people like about him is that his explanations are straightforward. Here are some of his philosophies:
• CICO (calories in, calories out) is false. This is not a true scientific law.
• CICO diet methods do not work with people who have kidney problems or diabetes.
• Low carb diets and intermittent fasting are the best solutions for insulin resistance
• Insulin levels control when you gain weight and when you lose weight
• Keto is not effective without also doing intermittent fasting
• Fasting cleans the body from the inside out.

In summary, if you want to try keto and intermittent fasting and you’re on some medication or a program with your physician, Dr. Jason Young would be a great person to work with and learn from to get some additional help. I also recommend grabbing his book The Obesity Code on Amazon.

Today we’re going to talk about autophagy and the effects of autophagy on infections.

You may already know about autophagy for recycling damaged proteins. But, there is another cool thing about autophagy called xenophagy. Xenophagy targets pathogens.

Your immune system uses this mechanism to clean up microbes that shouldn’t be there. Unfortunately, certain viruses have adapted to this. So, you may not handle all of your microbes this way, but it can help lessen the load.

What is autophagy?
Autophagy is a condition where your body starts to eat up damaged proteins and clean up microbes that shouldn’t be there. It then recycles them into new amino acids and materials. You can trigger autophagy by doing fasting for at least 18 hours.

A few benefits of autophagy:

• It’s good for anti-aging
• It’s good for your immune system
• It’s good to help clean up old damaged proteins that shouldn’t be in your body

Here’s what you could do in addition to fasting if you’re dealing with some type of infection or some type of chronic systemic immune weakness.

Take antiviral and antimicrobial herbs even when you’re fasting (capsules):

• Garlic
• St. John’s Wort
• Ginger
• Astragalus
• Oregano

The Ketogenic Diet and Electrolytes

4:13 How to get electrolytes on keto

In this video, we’re going to talk about the importance of keto electrolytes.

It’s the lack of keto electrolytes that’s responsible for:

• Keto flu
• Constipation
• Keto fatigue
• Cramping
• Heart flutters

Why you need electrolytes on keto:

1. Lowering your carbs lowers fluids (including electrolytes)
2. To improve insulin resistance
3. For the mitochondria—requires more electrolytes on keto

The electrolytes you need:

• Potassium
• Magnesium
• Calcium
• Sodium
• Phosphorus
• Chloride

* Potassium is needed in the body in large quantities, but your body doesn’t retain it very well.

When your fasting, your body becomes more conservative with vitamins and minerals, so you won’t lose as much. However, if you’re already deficient, the fast can magnify your deficiency symptoms. Prolonged fasting can also cause you to be deficient in some of these minerals.

If you do keto and you’re not eating a lot of vegetables or taking electrolytes, you’re not getting enough potassium.

Potassium is needed:

• To lower insulin
• To improve insulin resistance
• For your gut
• For the pumping action of the colon

How to get electrolytes on keto:

• Take electrolytes
• Consume foods with electrolytes (vegetables)

8:17 Adrenal fatigue causes—Chronic pain and inflammation
9:09 Adrenal fatigue causes—Chronic infection
10:15 A few more points and things to do

Today we’re going to talk about adrenal fatigue and what causes adrenal fatigue.

What are the adrenal glands?
The adrenal glands are two triangle-shaped glands. There is one on top of each of your kidneys. The adrenal glands have an outside and an inside. We’re going to be primarily talking about the hormones on the outside—especially cortisol. Cortisol is a stress hormone.

A short amount of stress is good for you — for example, intermittent fasting, intermittent exercise, or a cold shower. With adrenal fatigue, it’s chronic stress that breaks it down. When you have too much cortisol, you develop cortisol resistance, and your cortisol doesn’t really work anymore. With this situation, you have symptoms of high cortisol in certain parts of the body, and low cortisol in other parts of the body.

The biggest adrenal fatigue symptoms are:

• Fatigue
• Inability to sleep
• Feeling run down
• Not being able to rejuvenate

The 7 adrenal fatigue causes:

1. Chronic lack of sleep (lower your stress levels, apply my acupressure techniques)
2. Chronic high amounts of coffee or caffeine (depletes vitamin B1, calcium, and potassium)
3. No exercise
4. Chronic stress/shock
5. Low nutrients (low vitamin C, vitamin B1, zinc, magnesium, potassium, vitamin D) (from refined carbs, alcohol, no veggies, no sun, low HCL, phytic acid)
6. Chronic pain and inflammation (do intermittent fasting, take vitamin D)
7. Chronic infection—EBV, CMV, TB (take oregano oil, try ozone therapy)

A few more points about adrenal fatigue:

• You may have more stress and more issues after menopause because your adrenal glands have to back up the ovaries.

• I recommend watching my acupressure video (the stress webinar).

• Try using my Adrenal & Cortisol Relief and my Adrenal Stress Advanced Formula products in combination.

• The chronic use of Prednisone can weaken your adrenals.

Today we’re going to talk about detox and die-off. Another name for this is the Herxheimer reaction.

What is detox and die-off (Herxheimer reaction)?

With this, you’re likely using a medical antibiotic, a natural herbal antibiotic, a probiotic, or some type remedy that’s killing microbes. There are certain things that are being broken down and released, and your immune system is reacting to this.

Symptoms of die-off:

• Flu-like symptoms
• Achy—inflammation
• Fatigue
• Sore throat
• Rash
• Lung mucus
• Coughing
• Swollen glands
• Headaches
• Fever

Your own immune system is creating these symptoms, not the microbe. It’s creating an inflammatory state. When it comes to detox programs, it’s best to start small and see how your body reacts.

If you started a detox program (this doesn’t apply to antibiotics) and you have a reaction, this is what you may want to do:

1. Cut back or stop
2. Go really slow
3. Take activated charcoal
4. Take molybdenum
5. Take NAC

What herbal remedies are good for detoxification?
• Herbal remedies that kill off microbes (for example oregano oil, garlic, thyme, black walnut hull, clove)

In this video, we’re going to talk about alpha lipoic acid and the benefits of alpha lipoic acid.

What is alpha lipoic acid?
Your body makes alpha lipoic acid, you can get it as a supplement, and it’s in foods like red meat and certain vegetables. When you take alpha lipoic acid as a supplement, you’re getting a lot more of it—like 1000x more than your body can make.

Alpha lipoic acid is a very powerful antioxidant. If you’re a diabetic, alpha lipoic acid can protect the tissues from that. It can also help with damage within the mitochondria. Alpha lipoic acid acts as a sponge to soak up free-radicals and protect against oxidation.

Alpha lipoic acid can act as a chelator to help detoxify mercury from the body, which can also produce oxidation. Alpha lipoic acid is also a lipid antioxidant, so it’s good for areas of the body that are lined with lipids (like your nerves).

More alpha lipoic acid benefits:

• It’s good for diabetic neuropathy
• It counters oxidation and free radicals
• It crosses the blood-brain barrier
• It protects the myelin sheath
• It helps mitochondria make more energy
• It lowers A1C

Alpha lipoic acid dosage:

If you’re going to take alpha lipoic acid as a supplement, try taking 600mg, 3 times a day, on an empty stomach.

Typically people think of sodium as dangerous. But, is it the higher amount of sodium, or the deficiency of potassium that has caused problems for people?

A few of the potential health benefits of potassium are:

• It may be protective against strokes
• It may be protective for the kidneys and heart
• It may help lower blood pressure

*What’s even more important than these two minerals is the ratio they come in.

Normally you would need 4700 milligrams for potassium, and 2300 milligrams for sodium. An average person has these ratios flipped, which can get them into trouble.

Ideally, the ratio would be 2:1. But, if there’s already an imbalance, or you have a problem with the heart or blood pressure—I would raise the potassium to 3:1 or even 4:1.

The more sodium you have in your diet, the lower the potassium you have. There may be more sodium in different foods than you realize. There can also be hidden carbs. Carbohydrates will deplete potassium.

The sodium used in carbohydrates is not in the form of sea salt, which means you don’t get all of the other minerals involved.

MSG is additional sodium that is not factored into the label of some foods.

Will eating more fat knock me out of ketosis? The answer is no.

Dietary fat and ketosis will help:
• Boost your energy levels
• Fight off hunger and cravings
• Improve your mood
• Enhance your cognition and memory

Keto is a high-fat diet that consists of about 70% of your calories in fat. You need healthy fats to stay in ketosis.

However, there are some reasons why you may not want to consume too much fat.

One reason is that it may slow down or stall your weight loss.

If you consume more calories in fat than you can burn, then your body won’t start converting your own body fat into ketones. Instead, it will only convert your dietary fat into ketones.

If you’re worried about not losing weight, I recommend that you cut out things like MCT oil, coconut oil, and extra fats like butter.

You can also increase your exercise and fast for longer to burn some of your dietary fat and help you lose weight.

What is restless leg syndrome?
Restless leg syndrome is very uncomfortable and keeps you from sleeping. You have an impulse to fidget, and you feel like you can’t be still.

What causes restless leg syndrome?
• A deficiency of vitamin B1 (thiamine)

What can influence this condition:

1. KREB cycle (ATP production)
2. Pentose phosphate pathway (nerve atrophy)
3. Acetylcholine
4. Low dopamine

Similar conditions to restless leg syndrome:

• Motor restlessness
• Akathisia
• Tardive dyskinesia
• ADHD (take B1, zinc, folate, EPA)

Refined carbs and sugar can cause a vitamin B1 deficiency.

The best source of natural vitamin B1 is nutritional yeast.

In this video, we’re going to talk about what causes excessive sneezing.

What is sneezing?
You have little receptors in your sinuses that are on a circuit that goes deep into the brain stem that triggers a reflex that then goes to your diaphragm, lungs, and chest muscles. This creates a synchronized breath in and then an explosion of air out to clean out the sinuses.

5 weird causes of excessive sneezing:

1. Birth control pills
2. Liver/gallbladder
3. Sun—photic sneeze reflex
4. Underactive thyroid
5. Overeating

A more common cause of excessive sneezing is perfume. Perfume can contain chemicals that are very toxic. You may want to avoid using perfume or try using essential oils instead.

When it comes to causes of fever that are related to an infection and virus, antibiotics are not going to work. People jump to antibiotics and then can develop antibiotic resistance.

The best thing to do if you have a fever is to sweat, which will increase the temperature and speed up the process of killing off the microbe. If this doesn’t help, calcium lactate can also help speed things up.

But, what about a fever with no infection?

Different non-infection causes of fever:

1. Autoimmune conditions
2. Trauma
3. Inflammatory condition
4. Sudden shock
5. Antibiotics
6. Stroke
7. Brain tumor

In this video, we’re going to talk about intermittent hypoxic training (IHT).

What is intermittent hypoxic training?
Intermittent hypoxic training is a training or therapy, very similar to training in high altitudes. You’re intermittently giving your body lower amounts of oxygen. If you cut down the oxygen too low for too long, it could be dangerous.

By giving your body little doses of hypoxia, which is a lack of oxygen, you can create an amazing adaptation. You’re giving a small amount of stress intermittently to cause the body to rebound, adapt, and become even stronger.

Intermittent hypoxic training benefits:

1. Improved performance
2. May help with chronic lung disease
3. May help with bronchial asthma
4. May help with hypertension
5. May help with diabetes
6. May help with brain damage
7. May help with radiation toxicity
8. Increases your antioxidant network
9. Increases the number of mitochondria
10. May increase the number and size of red blood cells
11. Helps release excessive amounts of calcium from the cell
12. Increases oxygen to the tissues
13. Decreases oxidative stress

How to do intermittent hypoxic training:

• You can get intermittent hypoxic training equipment such as a small mask that fits over your nose and mouth. The mask restricts air and has different settings that will simulate different altitudes. You may start at 3,000 ft and slowly work your way up to 19,000 ft.

• There is another way where you’re on a bicycle, and you’re breathing in a less amount of oxygen and more nitrogen.

• One pattern might look like 3-5 minutes of hypoxic air, where you’re breathing more CO2. Then, 2-5 minutes of ambient air (normal air). You do this back and forth for about 45 minutes.

• You can get a pulse oximeter, which will measure the amount of oxygen in your blood.

In this video, we’re going to talk about estrogen and meat. Can meat spike estrogen?

Pre-puberty boys are the most susceptible to the adverse effects of excess dietary estrogen. A young boy makes about 100 mcg of estrogen a day.

One kg of beef contains less than .02 mcg of estrogen. You would have to consume 50-100 pounds of beef to get just one mcg of estrogen. Meat does not spike estrogen.

Can milk spike estrogen? Yes, milk can spike estrogen. If you’re going to give milk to a child, give them organic grass-fed milk. A better thing to give them instead of milk would be grass-fed organic cheese.

People who have any type of problem with the prostate, breasts, uterus, or ovaries should consider avoiding milk.

Can soy spike estrogen? There is conflicting data concerning soy and estrogen.

Endocrine disrupters are chemicals in the environment like pesticides, herbicides, and insecticides. These chemicals mimic estrogen.
