Deficient in vitamin C? Here’s an unexpected cause you might be overlooking.

In this video, I want to talk about an interesting reason why you might be deficient in vitamin C.
These are four main reasons why you might be deficient in vitamin C. #4 is an interesting cause that I haven’t yet talked about. Take a look.
1. Diet – Not getting enough healthy foods packed full of vitamin C.
2. Sugar – consuming too much sugar will block your ability to absorb vitamin C.
3. Insulin resistance – Many people have insulin resistance, which doesn’t allow your body to pull in vitamin C.
4. Pollution – Living in a city with a lot of pollution will decrease the amount of vitamin C in your body. This has to do with vitamin C’s antioxidant powers. Vitamin C works as an antioxidant for your lungs. A large amount of it is used when you expose your lungs to oxidants, such as pollution.
Smokers also deal with low vitamin C due to exposing their lungs to harsh smoke throughout the day. Smokers require a lot more vitamin C to stay healthy.
A vitamin C deficiency can cause decreased…
• Antibodies
• Neutrophils
• B cells
• T cells
• Interferon
Areas with high amounts of pollution also have the highest rates of deaths due to lower respiratory disease.
If you live in one of these pollution-rich areas, make sure you get plenty of vitamin C to help offset the harmful effects on your body.

Can keto cause high blood pressure problems? Here’s what you need to know.

In this video, I’m going to answer the question: why did keto raise my blood pressure? This is a question I recently got from a viewer, so I wanted to make a quick video on this topic.
First, it’s important to understand that you have this stuff called glycogen. This is stored glucose or sugar. Glycogen needs potassium. For every molecule of glucose, you need one molecule of potassium. One molecule of glucose also retains 3-3.5 molecules of water.
It helps to think of glycogen as a sponge—it soaks up and holds a lot of water.
Glycogen is stored in your liver and muscles.
When you do keto and intermittent fasting, you deplete the glycogen in your liver. You’re left with only the glycogen in your muscle. In turn, the glycogen you burn also gets rid of the water and potassium it retains. This may cause dehydration and low electrolytes/potassium.
One of the primary causes of hypertension is low potassium.
Not only do you lose a lot of potassium while adapting to keto, but also your requirement goes way up. Additionally, many people are already low on potassium, which makes matters worse.
The best remedy for this issue is to do the healthy version of keto. How? There are two things:
1. Get around 1,000 mg of potassium
2. Consume 7-10 cups of vegetables per day
This will help support weight loss and also promote a healthy body and blood pressure level.

Should You Do Juicing on Keto or While Fasting?

Can you do juicing while doing keto and intermittent fasting? Find out.

3:24 Why you shouldn’t juice
4:04 How juicing can slow ketosis
4:48 Inositol can help with cravings
6:00 Bile salts and cravings
6:40 Need keto consulting?
In this video, I’m going to answer the question, can you do juicing while on a keto and intermittent fasting plan?
In general, I do not think that juicing is the best idea on keto or while fasting—unless you’re doing a juice powder. Why? Because many vegetable juices can contain more carbs than you would expect. In turn, this can low down ketosis and weight loss.
When calculating the carbs in a vegetable, you want to subtract the fiber from the total carbs, which will give you the net carbs. Juicing removes the fiber from the vegetables, which means you can no longer subtract it from the total carbs. One cup of juice will have more net carbs than one cup of whole vegetable because of the fiber content.
Additionally, juicing can remove a lot of the phytonutrients in vegetables. Phytonutrients have powerful health benefits.
If you find it difficult not to have juice because of cravings, try using inositol. This is a form of natural sugar alcohol (known as vitamin B8) that helps with insulin resistance. If you can repair insulin resistance, you will have a much easier time fighting off cravings.
Bile salts can also help reduce cravings. Bile helps you break down and absorb healthy fats that keep you feeling satisfied after eating.
