Today we’re going to discuss the best foods for dry eyes. The glands that produce tears and the ducts that the tears drain through are controlled by vitamin A. A vitamin A deficiency can cause the inner lining of the ducts and the glands to get thicker and rougher. The production of tears or fluids can also diminish.

Top symptoms of a vitamin A deficiency:
1. Night blindness
2. Blurred vision
3. Dry eyes

Taking a vitamin A supplement may not be the best solution in this situation. Instead, you could try getting the vitamin A you need from food.

The best foods for dry eyes:
1. Cod liver oil
2. Liver
3. Fatty fish
4. Butter
5. Cheese
6. Egg yolk
7. Beef

How to Grow Your Muscles

Wondering how to grow your muscles on keto? Check out this very interesting data from Dorian Yates (6 time Mr. Olympia winner).

ADDITIONAL DATA:

https://ift.tt/3iwpst7.

Timestamps
0:00 Can you grow your muscles when doing keto and IF?
0:30 Keto and intermittent fasting
2:42 Dorian Yates (6 time Mr. Olympia winner) on muscle growth

Today I want to talk about how to grow your muscles while doing keto and intermittent fasting. If you’re doing keto and intermittent fasting, but you’re not exercising—you’re not going to grow your muscles. The most important stimulus to grow muscle is the intensity of the exercise you do.

When you do intermittent fasting and are fully adapted to ketosis, you will have higher levels of human growth hormone. Human growth hormone causes the growth of muscle and prevents the loss of muscle. But, if you’re eating frequently throughout the day and you have blood sugar issues, you’re going to have fewer amino acids going into the muscles. You will also have more atrophy.

A generally good keto and intermittent fasting plan for growing muscle on keto:
• 2 meals a day
• 50g of carbs per day
• 7-8 oz. of protein per meal
• Get plenty of sleep

Powerful data from Dorian Yates (6 time Mr. Olympia winner) on muscle growth:
1. He starts off with 2 warm-up sets with light weights
2. Then he does 1 extremely difficult set of about 6-8 reps (he goes as hard as he can, and then he has someone assist him in doing a few more reps)
3. He works the negative to failure
4. He doesn’t create momentum as he works out (he wants controlled isolated movement with a pause)
5. He lets the muscle recover fully (he only works a muscle once per week)
6. He may hit the muscle with 3-5 different exercises, but he will only do that intense to total failure and beyond set once per week
7. He works out 1 hour per day 4 times per week (on off days, he does cardio, which helps with recovery)

If a person decides to do something like this, they need to start very gradually and possibly have a personal trainer for help. But, I think this, along with keto, intermittent fasting, low stress, and good sleep, would help a person get muscle hypertrophy. Also, be sure to keep in mind that full recovery is key. You have to work out intensely to create the damage and then recover completely to have muscle hypertrophy. This may take time.

Let’s talk about ulcerative colitis. This is a condition where there is inflammation in the colon and rectum, along with ulcers and bleeding. Ulcerative colitis is an autoimmune condition, which means that your own immune system is creating constant inflammation and irritation to the colon.

Many people are only offered two solutions, which are surgery or steroids. But, what about natural relief from ulcerative colitis?

Potential natural remedies for ulcerative colitis:
1. Fasting (decreases inflammation, increases the diversity of the microbiome, and increases small-chain fatty acids)

2. Zinc (is necessary for ulcers)

3. Vitamin D in higher amounts (is an immune modulator)

4. Cabbage juice (has certain phytonutrients known to help ulcers and any type of damage in the colon)

5. VSL#3 (a very powerful probiotic for ulcerative colitis and inflammatory conditions)

6. Wheatgrass juice powder (may help with any type of lesions, inflammation, and ulcers on the internal part of the skin)

High Cortisol Occurs During and After Surgery

1:49 Cortisol, potassium, glucose, and sodium
2:19 Side effects of cortisol after surgery
3:24 What should you do for high cortisol after surgery?
4:56 Key takeaways

In this video, we’re going to talk about cortisol spikes after surgery.

Now, it would make sense if stress didn’t go up too much because of anesthesia—you can’t feel pain while under. However, this isn’t the case.

Your body still feels and reacts to pain while under. In turn, your body reacts to it with cortisol—the stress hormone.

How much cortisol spikes correlate with the severity of an invasive procedure.

Surgery activates both the inside and outside of the adrenals. This causes an increase in both cortisol and adrenaline.

When your cortisol is raised, you may also lose potassium. This is why they often give you a potassium IV.

You can also experience fluctuations in glucose levels and retain more sodium.

In general, there are a lot of post-operative effects that go on, including:
• Temporary memory loss
• Decreased learning
• Inflammation
• Decreased immune function
• Increased catabolic effect
• Decreased wound healing
• Autoimmune issues – Guillain Barre Syndrome
• Depression
• Anxiety
• Low electrolytes

If you are coming up on surgery and want to minimize your cortisol and adrenal response, you can do intermittent fasting and then fast a day before you go into surgery. This will help strengthen your adrenals and give you some resistance to stress. It will increase your ability to resist oxidative stress.

You can also do healthy keto. Ketones are anti-inflammatory, which may help with symptoms.

It’s important to get plenty of electrolytes both before and after surgery because of the stress response and depleting potassium.

In this video, I want to tell you about a potential alternative protocol for steroids. The side effects of things like prednisone, cortisone, steroids, anti-inflammatories, or anything related to the synthetic form of cortisol can have a lot of side effects.

Many people have inflammatory conditions. When a person takes a synthetic form of cortisol, over time, it can work less and less to the point where it doesn’t work anymore.

Cortisol is made by your adrenal cortex. Cortisol is the natural anti-inflammatory in the body. It suppresses the immune system.

To make cortisol, you need the cofactor vitamin B5, and vitamin C. Vitamin D can also help cortisol work better. If you have cortisol resistance, vitamin D may help reset that.

A natural potential steroid protocol for a severe inflammatory reaction:
1. Vitamin B5 — 500mg
2. Vitamin C (buffered and non-GMO) — 1000mg
3. Vitamin D3 — 10,000 IUs

A. You may want to take this combination every 15 minutes for 2 hours.
B. Then, take this combination every 2 hours for the rest of the day.
C. After that, if needed, take the protocol twice a day.

This protocol is meant to help naturally calm things down as you do things to correct the situation like getting on the keto and intermittent fasting plan.

In this video, we’re going to talk about irritable male syndrome and low testosterone.

First, let’s talk about an interesting study. In this study, 32 men at the average age of 59 did fasting and dieting for three months. After the three months, they experienced:
• Decreased tension
• Less anger
• Decreased confusion
• Increased vigor
• More daytime concentration

This is not to mention all of the other benefits, like weight loss and a healthier body.

PEDS (partial endocrine deficiency syndrome) is a situation that occurs in men as they age. This is when the endocrine system begins to fall apart, and hormone imbalanced takes place.

There are two primary hormones that are involved: testosterone and cortisol. This results in an increase in cortisol and a decrease in testosterone levels.

Testosterone and cortisol compete—when one raises, the other one lowers.

Some men do testosterone replacement therapy. Although this can help with short-term issues, you can develop gonad atrophy, which makes hormone issues worse over the long-term.

To avoid these issues and increase your mood, you can:
1. Do intermittent fasting
2. Take zinc
3. Take L-arginine
4. Exercise
5. Healthy keto
