In this video, we’re going to talk all about the thyroid.

There are two primary types of thyroid issues—hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. “Hypo” means that your thyroid is not producing enough hormones. “Hyper” means that your thyroid is producing too many hormones.

Hypothyroidism is related to Hashimoto’s disease about 90% of the time. Hyperthyroidism is related to Graves’ disease about 80% of the time.

Hypothyroidism occurs 8x more in women. Hyperthyroidism is 8.5x more likely in women between 40 and 60 years of age.

Women who have recently given birth are at a higher risk of developing Hashimoto’s or hypothyroidism. The risk of developing Graves’ disease is also 7x more likely after giving birth. This suggests that estrogen is involved.

Estrogen blocks the conversion of T4 to T3 (these are vital thyroid hormones).

When testing T3 and T4 levels, it’s best to do what’s called a free T4/T3 test—this is far more accurate than other tests.

TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) is actually a pituitary hormone. Normal levels of this hormone are between 0.45 and 2.5. However, some consider levels between 0.4 and 5.0 to be normal.

T4 is the inactive thyroid hormone, and T3 is the active form. The conversion must take place to use this hormone. Some thyroid hormone replacements are the inactive form—which isn’t helpful unless your body can do the conversion.

These are the best remedies for hypothyroid issues:
• Selenium
• Zinc
• Vitamin D
• Sea kelp
• Bile salts

These are the best remedies for hyperthyroid issues:
• Vitamin D
• Vitamin B1

Keto Did Not Work – My Hypoglycemia Came Back

. This person says keto didn’t work. Here’s why their hypoglycemia really came back.

Timestamps

1:18 Keto is designed to be a lifestyle change

Someone was having an issue with keto where they said that keto didn’t work because even though they did keto and felt better after doing it for a month, they went back on their diet, and their hypoglycemia came back.

What causes hypoglycemia (low blood sugars) is something you ate that’s triggering insulin, and the insulin is pushing your blood sugars down. When you have hypoglycemia, you may think you need to consume sugar because your sugar is low. But, the problem with this is that you’re just going to activate insulin again, which will bring the blood sugar back down. I don’t believe you can correct hypoglycemia by consuming more carbs.

When someone starts the keto diet, they also really need to commit to it for longer than one month. If a person has hypoglycemia, they have very severe insulin resistance. It could take several years before this person could get into a stabilized position, and if the person was to go back to carbs, the situation would just come back. The keto and intermittent fasting plan is designed to be a lifestyle change.

In this video, we’re going to talk about autoimmune conditions. If you have an autoimmune condition, it’s important that you watch this video. I’ve done other videos on this topic, but you may not have seen them yet. I want to highlight one important point about the Th17 cell.

First, let’s start by talking about the mechanisms behind autoimmunity. An autoimmune condition is a situation where your body has developed antibodies against its own healthy tissues.

There are a lot of unknowns about autoimmune conditions. But what we do know is that there’s something called a Th17 cell—also known as a T-helper 17 cell. This is a part of your immune system that does some very interesting things.

Autoimmune conditions start with an over-activation of the Th17 cell. If this cell is working too much, you can develop an autoimmune condition such as:
• Rheumatoid arthritis
• MS
• Lupus
• Psoriasis
• Asthma
• Allergies

The overactive of Th17 cells causes chronic inflammation. This is at the center of the collateral damage.

Vitamin D helps regulate Th17 cells, which can help promote a healthy immune system. Fasting can also be beneficial. See how these work for you.

2:00 Something to add to l-arginine
2:20 The cons of l-arginine

Today I want to cover the ten amazing benefits of l-arginine. L-arginine is an amino acid that has the ability to release nitric oxide.

Benefits of l-arginine:
1. It relaxes the arteries
2. It decreases free radicals
3. It decreases LDL cholesterol oxidation
4. It’s an anticoagulant
5. It can help with erectile dysfunction
6. It helps the immune system
7. It increases blood flow through the brain
8. It increases blood flow through the lungs
9. It helps relax sphincters
10. It can increase growth hormone

If you decide to take an l-arginine supplement, it may be beneficial to take 3g two times a day on an empty stomach. In addition to this, you may also want to try consuming beets. Beets are very high in nitrates, which can activate nitric oxide. Beets are also high in boron, which has great benefits.

The cons of l-arginine:
If you already have herpes in your body, too much l-arginine can reactivate the virus and bring it back out.

3:10 How you could use this information

Did you realize there is a third function of the immune system? The immune system can help fight pathogens and kill cancer and tumor cells.

But, the third purpose of the immune system is wound healing. This goes beyond inflammation. You have cells called macrophages. Macrophage means “big cell that eats.” This is one of the first lines of defense against infections.

There is are other phagocytes called neutrophils. Neutrophils are like the main defense, and the macrophages will back them up. They work together. Neutrophils are more involved in acute inflammation, and macrophages are more involved in chronic inflammation.

When you have inflammation in various organs, it can eventually turn into scar tissue. There is the normal healing cycle, and then there’s pathogenic inflammation or pathogenic wound healing.

The more pathogenic wound healing you have, the more chronic inflammation you’re going to have. You could also have more free-radical damage as well as a lack of function in the area. Macrophages are involved in wound healing whether or not it’s normal or pathogenic.

The nutrition that supports the white blood cells for immune protection is the same nutrition you would use to support wound healing.

There is a transition from inflammation to scar tissue, and tocotrienols (a specific form of vitamin E) will help slow down this process by supporting the macrophages.

Omega 6 fatty acids create a lot of oxidation that can lead to inflammatory conditions. Getting rid of this trigger is important.

A few essentials to help support wound healing:
• Tocotrienols
• Zinc
• Vitamin D
• Fasting

In this video, we’re going to talk about why after starting keto, you might have itchy skin and what you could do about it.

Sudden skin itchiness after starting keto can be caused by bile salts that back up from the liver into the skin. This can happen because the person has something called cholestasis.

Cholestasis is a situation where the person has a decreased flow of bile either because there is an obstruction in one of the ducts, or there is sludge (a higher level of cholesterol and low bile).

Bile is a detergent, and it can be very toxic if it’s in the wrong place, like the skin. A person with cholestasis may also experience a full sensation underneath the right ribcage.

This may have started because you introduced more fat into the diet, and you didn’t have enough bile to handle the fat because your body hasn’t adapted yet.

Remedies for itchiness on keto:
1. Take purified bile salts (TUDCA)
2. Take choline

1. Vitamin B1 deficiency – Many people have a vitamin B1 deficiency. This can affect the vascular and nervous systems. Refined carbs and sugars can contribute to your vitamin B1 deficiency. Diabetes, alcohol, and too much exercise can cause lactic acidosis, a condition that is heavily influenced by vitamin B1. This situation can cause shortness of breath.

2. Acidosis – If your body is far too acidic, this can affect your breathing.

3. Alkalosis – If your body is far too alkaline, this can affect your breathing. High-carb diets, too many carbs, and high calcium can cause this issue.

4. Low calcium – Low calcium in your blood may cause difficulty breathing.

5. Asthma – Asthma is a common condition that can cause difficulty breathing. Vitamin D is important for asthma symptoms.

6. Pneumonia – A viral or bacterial infection in the lungs can cause difficulty breathing. Zinc is important for pneumonia.

7. COPD – Vitamin C and vitamin E are vital to lowering lung inflammation and inhibiting fibrosis in your lungs.

Today we’re going to talk about what you could do if you find prolonged fasting to be too hard. Maybe you can do intermittent fasting, but when it comes to prolonged fasting, it’s just too hard.

Prolonged fasting can be difficult for some people because of a few reasons, such as:
• Depriving yourself of food is anti-survival. It goes against your survival on a mental level. But, physically, you will feel better.

• Smelling and seeing food can make fasting difficult.

• You have to go up against all of the habits you have regarding eating, like snacking and eating at social events.

• You have pleasurable memories connected to foods.

• Stomach growling in the beginning phase of fasting can be hard to ignore.

3 things you need to know about prolonged fasting:
1. When you do this correctly, you won’t have any hunger.
2. There are many good reasons to do prolonged fasting that go beyond weight loss.
3. Once you get started and get more into ketosis, it becomes easier and easier.

A few benefits of prolonged fasting that go beyond weight loss:
• It can help strengthen your cognitive function
• It can help improve your mood
• It can help fix your immune system
• It can help with certain body problems like diabetes
• It can potentially help with cancer

Before you try prolonged fasting, you may want to do intermittent fasting for a while. This can help get your body used to fasting. You would also want to make sure you’re taking electrolytes, trace minerals, B vitamins, and sea salt while fasting.

2:05 What you could do for migraines
3:05 Causes of sodium deficiency

Today we’re going to talk about why you may want to increase your salt if you have migraines. There is a condition called hyponatremia, where a person has low salt in their blood.

Normally, your blood should be salty. Most of the sodium should be outside of the cell, and then there’s potassium inside of the cell. The sodium and potassium together form an electrical charge, which gives you almost like a battery in your cells. This then creates a voltage in your nervous system to activate muscles and allows the nervous system to work correctly. One of the top symptoms of hyponatremia is headaches and migraines.

But, the big reason you may want to consume more salt if you have migraines is that people who suffer from migraines have a mutation in the potassium channels in their cells—they’re stuck open. If you have a problem with that channel that’s stuck open in the brain, you can get excited nerves. This can create a lot of electrical problems in the brain.

Some studies indicate that migraine headaches may lessen when you increase sodium. This may happen because if you have open potassium channels in the brain that are giving you too much potassium in the brain, you may have a huge imbalance of sodium and potassium. Increasing sodium may help balance out this ratio.

• Right before your headache, you may want to start consuming more salt. The recommended amount is 2300mg, but you may want to do something like 4600mg.

Sodium deficiency causes that go beyond not enough salt in the diet:
• Addison’s disease
• High carb diets
• Diarrhea
• Vomiting
• Diuretics
• Drinking lots of water
• Blood loss (heavy periods)
• Excessive sweating
• Major burns

• Excessive sweating
• Major burns
