Healthy Ketogenic Diet and Intermittent Fasting:

What are the differences between clinical and subclinical disease? Here’s what you need to know.

Timestamps:

5:52 Subclinical liver disease
6:35 Key takeaways

In this video, I want to help increase your awareness of the differences between clinical and subclinical disease.

Subclinical means that you have very few—if any—symptoms of a disease and no clinical finding. You may have had a full blood work-up, but the doctor found nothing abnormal.

Clinical means that you have symptoms, and there are clinical findings that confirm you have a disease.

Numerous health problems—especially things like diabetes, hypothyroidism, adrenal disease, kidney disease, and liver disease—start out as a subclinical problem before they transition into a clinical issue.

You may start having subclinical problems years before you have clinical disease. You may also notice some symptoms like fatigue, stiffness, and inflammation that you might consider “normal.” In fact, these could be signs of subclinical disease.

Before you become diabetic or even pre-diabetic, you typically experience insulin resistance. A homa-IR can help detect this problem.

Subclinical hypothyroidism may be able to be detected by a hair analysis lab test. This will give you your selenium, zinc, and iodine status.

There are many other ways you can begin to detect subclinical issues before they become clinical, including CAC scans, advanced lipid testing, antibody tests, and other exams and blood tests.

The best way to help avoid subclinical and clinical issues is to start with healthy lifestyle choices. I believe keto and intermittent fasting are the best ways to get your diet under control. Check out my other videos to learn more about these.

3:24 Synthetic prenatal vitamins
3:55 Key nutrients to take while pregnant and breastfeeding

Today we’re going to talk about lactation insufficiency. Let’s say you just started breastfeeding, and there’s not enough milk. What could you do in this situation?

Natural remedies for lactation insufficiency:
1. Fenugreek
2. Blessed thistle
3. Alfalfa
4. Brewers yeast
5. Fennel seed

I like fenugreek and brewers yeast the best.

These natural remedies may help increase milk supply, but what if they don’t help?

The ducts in the breast tissue are regulated by estrogen and growth hormone. The actual breast tissue requires progesterone and prolactin. You need a combination of these hormones working together.

If there has been a chronic nutritional deficiency, you may find that the actual structures in the breast tissue are altered enough where the above remedies may not work right away. The ideal situation would be to eat a certain way about two years before becoming pregnant. This way, going into pregnancy, there would be no nutritional deficiencies and less risk of problems with breastfeeding.

What to try if the above natural remedies don’t work:
1. Fix your diet (go low carb)
2. Consume nutrient-dense foods

There could also be either subclinical PCOS going on or a hypothyroid condition. Iodine may help with a hypothyroid condition.

I believe it’s also important to avoid synthetic prenatal vitamins. A food-based prenatal may be more beneficial.

Key nutrients to take while pregnant and breastfeeding:
• Vitamin D
• Cod liver oil
• Trace minerals

0:23 What causes neck pain without injury
3:39 What you could do for neck pain without injury

Today I want to cover what to do if you have neck pain for no reason (there was no injury). The problem behind neck pain without injury is not actually in your neck. Your neck pain may be referred pain from something in your digestive system. Something you ate may be causing a problem in your gallbladder, the ducts that go to the gallbladder, or the ducts that extend over to the pancreas.

If there is a blockage, some type of sludge, or irritation in these ducts, it can put pressure on the diaphragm, which is connected to two nerves. These nerves are the phrenic nerves. These nerves go from your diaphragm up to either side of the neck. When there is pressure on the phrenic nerves, there can be pain and tightness on the right or left side of the neck.

Potential causes of referred neck pain:
• You consumed too many omega-6 fatty acids
• You consumed too many nuts or nut butters
• You consumed refined grains
• You consumed packaged foods

What you could do for neck pain without injury:
• Take purified bile salts (on an empty stomach a few times a day)
• Change your diet (do healthy keto and intermittent fasting)

3:28 Summary

In this video, I want to cover the drugs that deplete vitamin D.

Drugs that deplete vitamin D:

1. Corticosteroids
These are typically used as an anti-inflammatory. But, vitamin D is actually one of the best anti-inflammatories.

2. Antibiotics
Certain antibiotics block your absorption of vitamin D. Without vitamin D you could end up with leaky gut, increasing the chances of autoimmune diseases, allergies, and more.

3. SSRIs
Antidepressants could block vitamin D. But, vitamin D could have therapeutic benefits for depression.

4. Phenobarbital
This is used as an anti-anxiety medication and is also used for seizures. Vitamin D could help reduce stress and anxiety and could even reduce the risk of seizures.

5. Dilantin
Dilantin is used for seizures, but it blocks vitamin D.

6. Cholestyramine
This is a medication that blocks bile and cholesterol. But, cholesterol is needed to make vitamin D.

7. Ulcer medications
A big cause of ulcers is the microbe H.pylori. There is some research that shows that vitamin D could help eradicate H.pylori.

1:54 The RDAs for B1

2:57 The best source of vitamin B1

Today I want to share with you the best vitamin for emotional instability. There are other causes of emotional instability that have nothing to do with nutrition as well. But, I want to talk about the nutrient connection to your emotions. I believe the best vitamin for emotional instability may be vitamin B1.

If you’re deficient in vitamin B1, you could experience emotional instability and delirium. Delirium is mental confusion and emotional disruption. Delirium can also often occur when an alcoholic or drug addict is going through withdrawal symptoms.

There are certain specific parts of the brain that require B1:
• The hippocampus
• The Amygdala
• The mammillary bodies

The RDAs for vitamin B1 is only 2mg. Vitamin B1 is water-soluble, so you don’t store a lot of it. You’re body only needs a small amount of it, but it needs it consistently. You will need more vitamin B1 if you consume carbs. The more carbohydrates or sugar you consume, the more vitamin B1 you’ll need.

Things that can deplete vitamin B1:
• Glucose
• Stress
• Chlorine
• Refined foods

Other vitamin B1 deficiency symptoms:
1. Irritability
2. Depression
3. Anxiety
4. Confusion
5. Memory loss
6. Lack of initiative
7. Poor learning
8. Poor concentration

The best source of vitamin B1 is nutritional yeast. If you’re going to buy a vitamin B1 supplement, a natural version over a synthetic version may be the best way to go. But, unfortified or unenriched nutritional yeast should have enough vitamin B1.

4:01 Keto recipe channel promo

In this video, we’re going to talk about a topic that comes up often. It has to do with what puts you into ketosis. Many people think it takes consuming more fat to put your body into the state of ketosis.

The truth is, you don’t necessarily need to consume more fat. Instead, you need to lower your carbohydrates. Carbs affect insulin, and insulin blocks ketosis. The key is to lower your carbs.

Ketosis is also not a high-protein diet. You want to consume only a moderate amount of protein. 3-8 oz of protein is fine. You also don’t want to consume lean protein—low-fat protein can exacerbate insulin spikes. Always consume full-fat foods.

Why do you need dietary fat on ketosis?
1. Fat helps you fast longer (lowers hunger and cravings)
2. Fat supplies you with nutrients (essential fats and fat-soluble vitamins)
3. Fat stimulates bile
4. Fat triggers healthy hormones
5. Fat supplies your body with healthy tissue
6. Fat slows the absorption of protein
7. Fat helps you maintain your weight

In this video, I’m going to share with you a little bit about the berry that has the strongest anti-cancer effect. It’s the bilberry. Out of 10 berries tested, bilberry was rated #1 in its anti-cancer effects.

Bilberry may inhibit human leukemia cells. It also could inhibit the human colon carcinoma cell in vitro.

The bilberry has some of the largest amounts of a phytonutrient called anthocyanin, which is a plant-based compound that has one of the greatest free radical scavenging activities.

There are certain antioxidant properties in this berry. Antioxidants are a protective factor against oxidation. There have been interesting studies on using bilberry for chronic inflammatory conditions. The phytonutrients from this berry can decrease the collateral damage that occurs from these chronic health conditions.

What Happens When You Fast and When You Eat?

KETO RECIPES CHANNEL: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnAGH-jp4YXl30rir1BPrxA/

How does your body function when you eat vs. when you fast? Watch to find out.

Timestamps
0:00 What happens when you eat and fast?
0:10 This is what happens when you eat
2:23 This is what happens when you fast
4:00 Fasting and autophagy
4:38 Keto recipe channel promo

In this video, we’re going to talk about what happens when you eat vs. when you fast.

– When you eat –
When you eat, you have glucose, amino acids, and fatty acids in your blood. In turn, this increases insulin. The first thing that happens is these nutrients supply the cell with energy. The extra energy turns into glycogen. Glycogen is the storage of glucose molecules.

To store glucose, you need potassium. When you store glucose, you also store water. For every one molecule of glycogen, you have 3.8 water molecules.

If you are trying to lose weight and you’re consuming carbs, keep in mind that it’s not just the glycogen that’s adding to your weight—it’s also all of the water that you retain inside your glycogen units.

You have about 100 grams of glycogen in your liver and 500 grams of glycogen in your muscle tissue. Any extra glycogen is turned into fat.

As you put on fat, you also develop insulin resistance.

– When you fast –
When you fast, this whole process works in reverse—your glucose level decreases, which causes a decrease in insulin. The body starts to use the excess glucose in the blood. Next, you start to use the glycogen reserves in your liver.

After 6-12 hours, your liver glycogen is depleted. Next, your body starts to convert stored fat into ketones. It takes 12-72 hours to go into ketosis.

After this, your body goes through autophagy. Autophagy is an efficient system that helps clean up old and damaged proteins as well as microbes.

Autophagy is very therapeutic—it helps regrow brain tissue, repair heart tissue, and strengthen your immune system.

The medical profession doesn’t recognize adrenal fatigue as an actual condition. But, this doesn’t make sense. If a person has too much adrenal function, this is called Cushing’s disease, and if you don’t have enough adrenal hormones, this is called Addison’s disease. So, why couldn’t someone develop wear and tear, breakdown, or fatigue of the adrenal glands?

The two big symptoms of adrenal fatigue are:
1. Chronic fatigue
2. Chronic inflammation

The most important thing you can do for adrenal fatigue is to get more sleep. Sleep helps improve stress. It’s not always just about the diet. In this situation, it’s about recovering and restoring sleep.

A few main causes of poor sleep:
• Pain and inflammation (take vitamin D)
• Nightmares (take nutritional yeast)
• EMF
• A high pulse rate or high blood pressure (take potassium, magnesium, and vitamin D)
• Heart arrhythmias (Take potassium, magnesium, berberine, quinine, and forskolin)

A few more things that may help:
• Long walks
• Lower your carbohydrates
• Go to sleep when you’re tired
• Take naps
• Isolate what’s causing your stress and do what you can to improve your stress
