Today we’re going to talk about what sugar and your arteries. For a diabetic, probably the biggest damage from high amounts of sugar in the blood is done to the vascular system.

The macrovascular system:
These are the large vessels like the coronary artery, which supplies the heart muscle. This also includes peripheral arteries throughout the body.

The microvascular system:
These are small capillaries that go to the retina in the eye, the kidneys, and the nerves in your feet and hands.

Sugar basically rusts out your vascular system. It creates all sorts of oxidation. The layer of the inside of the blood vessel is called the endothelium. The endothelium controls the tone of the blood vessels, and it prevents things from invading the blood vessels. The endothelium is also highly sensitive to too much sugar.

Glucose can create inflammation in the arteries, which is the beginning stage of a sequence of events that can end in a blockage in your artery.

Oxidation can create a lot of serious effects within the body that you may not know is going on until you have a problem. It can thicken the inside of the blood vessels creating stiffness.

High sugar can also cause insulin resistance, which can create decreased blood flow. A lot of the neurological damage that occurs from diabetes comes from the damaged blood vessels that starve off the nerves.

Sugar can also have effects on the arteries, including:

• Creating advanced glycated end-products, which are very toxic to the arteries and the rest of the body.

• You can start to develop excessive amounts of sorbitol, which can lead to cataracts, blindness, and peripheral neuropathy.

Your body actually has the ability to make sugar if needed. This is called gluconeogenesis. But, none of these effects happens during gluconeogenesis. This is because your body also makes antioxidants that protect against the complications of high-sugar. This is another reason why you should eat foods high in antioxidants. Another potential natural remedy for some of these conditions is called benfotiamine.

Today we’re going to talk about anxiety and how to turn off anxiety like a switch. The term anxiety comes from the Latin word “angere” which means “to strangle.”

An interesting book called “Autonomic Nerves” describes fight or flight as: “The flight or fight reaction is a physiological response to a real or perceived threat to one’s safety. Depending on the nature of the threat, the person either mounts a defense (fight), or attempts to escape from a threat (flight). Both fight or flight require sudden vigorous muscle action.”

What having anxiety feels like:

1. Racing heart
2. Sweating
3. Shaking
4. Throat constricted
5. Breathing changes
6. Blurry vision/dizziness
7. Nausea
8. Irritation
9. Worry
10. Poor concentration
11. Mind goes blank
12. Focus on the negative
13. Sleeplessness

I’ve noticed many people with anxiety have a poor diet filled with stimulants. In many cases, they also seem to be depleted of vitamin B1.

How to control anxiety:

1. Probiotics
2. B-vitamins (especially B1)
3. Magnesium
4. Avoid environmental triggers
5. Adaptogens

7 Best Natural Laxatives

In this quick video, I’m going to share with you the 7 best natural laxatives. If you’re constipated, it could be that the problem that you have is mainly in the large intestine more than the small intestine. The large intestine has smooth muscle that allows it to contract and push food along the tract.

The best natural laxatives:

1. Senna
2. Cascara sagrada
3. Black psyllium (swells with water)
4. Castor oil
5. Magnesium
6. Vegetables (fermented)
7. Probiotics

People often say they don’t want to take a laxative because they may be addicting. But, the toxic effect of having chronic constipation can be very dangerous to the body vs. the minor side effect of taking a laxative.

You might experience a small drop in potassium from taking a laxative, but you can easily take more potassium. Ultimately, you want to correct what’s really causing the constipation, which usually is what you’re eating, or a lack of friendly bacteria.

9:10 Coronavirus outbreak and age
10:00 Coronavirus fatality percentages compared to other viruses
11:00 Key nutrients for viruses

Today we’re going to talk about coronavirus susceptibility and susceptibility to other viruses.

When someone sneezes, about 20,000 little droplets containing viruses are projected through the air. For viruses like COVID-19 to spread, it has to be propelled in the air, and you have to come in contact with it. Certain viruses have targets for certain tissues. The coronavirus targets the lungs.

Viruses are everywhere. One liter of seawater contains over 100 billion viruses. So, it really all comes down to susceptibility.

The purpose of a virus is to deliver its DNA or RNA into the host cell to be copied so it can continue.

Viruses go through 5 stages:
1. They attach to the cell wall (this is easier for it to do if you’re susceptible)
2. They penetrate the cell wall
3. They go into the nucleus and replicate
4. They assemble
5. They are released

Some viruses go dormant and wait until you’re older, weakened, nutritionally deficient, or stressed, and then they come out. This could be why many people get a virus outbreak during stress states. Certain viruses can also activate the release of sugar.

Susceptibility factors:
1. Age
2. Nutritional deficiencies
3. Genetics
4. Weak immune system
5. Chronic disease
6. Stress

Out of all of these factors, you have the most control over the nutrients you get. Getting the right nutrients can also influence your immune system and even stress.

Two things happen when you have nutritional deficiencies:

1. It weakens your immune system
2. It makes viruses stronger

If we take a look at the fatality rate of the coronavirus pandemic and age, the fatality rate is much higher as the age group gets older. For example, people in their 80s and older may have a higher risk of death than people in their 50s and younger. COVID-19 also has a much lower fatality percentage than other viruses like ebola SARS and MERS.

Key nutrients for viruses:

1. Vitamin C
2. Vitamin E
3. Selenium
4. Zinc
5. Vitamin D

Why Does Insulin Cause PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Disease)?

If you have PCOS (polycystic ovarian disease), did you know insulin could be the cause? Check out why.

1:05 Mechanism #1

In this video, we’re going to talk about PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and why insulin may be behind it.

Polycystic ovarian syndrome or polycystic ovarian disease is a condition that occurs in females, which involves having too much androgen. Typically males have more androgens and/or testosterone. Women do naturally have androgens, but not at the same levels. High levels of androgens in women can cause polycystic ovarian syndrome symptoms.

Polycystic ovarian syndrome symptoms:

• Facial hair
• More body hair
• Acne
• Hair loss (a receding hairline)
• Deeper voice
• Irregular cycles or no cycles
• Cysts on the ovaries

I believe insulin causes PCOS with two different mechanisms.

Mechanism #1
The first one involves a hormone from the pituitary called LH. When you increase insulin, you’re going to get a spike in LH, which comes down from the pituitary to the ovaries. Once this hormone connects with the ovaries, it triggers this certain cell called a theca cell, which increases androgens.

Mechanism #2
There is a buffering mechanism in your liver called SHGB. This compound buffers androgens. When you increase insulin, you decrease this compound. Then, you get less buffering and more free testosterone.

Today, we’re going to talk about a fantastic natural remedy for gallstones. It’s called Spanish black radish.

You could potentially use any type of radish, but the Spanish black radish seems to work the best for gallstones.

Spanish black radish may work the best because it helps reduce cholesterol while at the same time stimulating bile flow. A gallstone really occurs because of super-concentrated cholesterol with a reduction in bile. Bile salts can actually help keep gallstones from forming.

Bile is made by your liver. It flows through small ducts and eventually is stored in the gallbladder. The gallbladder concentrates the bile. But, if there is something going on with the liver, you might not be able to produce enough bile. Saturated fats also trigger the release of bile. If you’re on a low-fat diet, you may not have enough bile to dissolve cholesterol and keep the cholesterol from forming gallstones.

Incredible potential health benefits of black radish:

• Anti-gallstones
• Anti-cancer
• Anti-diabetes
• Antimicrobial
• Hepatoprotective
• May help get rid of mucus

0:25 Ways to boost melatonin

Today we’re going to talk about melatonin for sleep. I’m going to share with you 11 ways to boost melatonin to help improve your sleep quality. I don’t recommend taking melatonin supplements if you can’t sleep, because even though it may help, you will need more and more overtime to get the same effect. But, here are some ways to help boost melatonin naturally.

What is melatonin?
Melatonin is a hormone that’s made by the pineal gland. It’s stimulated by darkness and turned off by sunlight.

11 ways to boost melatonin:

1. Darkness
Don’t try to sleep with the lights or TV on.

2. Sunlight
Recharges the pineal gland. Vitamin D from the sun also helps with the recycling effect of melatonin in the pineal gland.

3. Decrease blue light
Your computer, cell phone, and certain lights can give off blue light.

4. No heavy eating before bed
Bloating can affect your ability to sleep.

5. Avoid refined carbs and sugar
Glucose can increase insulin, causing low blood sugar, which can then kick in adrenaline and cortisol—keeping you awake.

6. Decrease stress
Stress can increase cortisol and lowers melatonin.

7. Avoid TV or watch a comedy before bed
The news or TV shows and movies with a lot of action may keep you up.

8. Cut down on caffeine
Even having a lot of caffeine in the morning can inhibit your melatonin at night.

9. There are certain co-factors or nutrients that are involved in making melatonin
You need magnesium, folate, B3, B6, B12, zinc, and calcium.

10. There are certain types of foods that contain tryptophan
Tryptophan is in many different proteins, walnuts, milk, wine, and coffee. But, wine and coffee may still keep you awake.

11. Yellow and green vegetables may help increase melatonin

The Best Diet for a Healing Bone: Fracture, Surgery or Trauma

This may be the best diet for a healing bone. Check it out.

4:55 The worst diet to heal bones
5:03 The best diet for healing bones

In this video, we’re going to talk about the best diet for a healing bone.

When you break a bone, you get a blood clot around the broken part of the bone. With the blood that rushes in, you have all sorts of things that help with the healing process, and help the bone become solid again.

Macrophages are very important in this process. If anything slows down the macrophages, the bone will take longer and longer to heal. High levels of sugar in the blood can actually slow these macrophages down.

During the healing process, stem cells also become activated. Stem cells can morph into any cells that you need. It can turn into bone, fibrous tissue, or collagen. Initially, the stem cells may form almost like a splint to help hold things together, but then it will turn into whatever you need.

Then, you have the osteoblasts that kick in. These are cells that build up the bone. New blood vessels will start to form, and any damaged nerves will start to grow back as well. You will also have osteoclasts that clean things up and remodel the bone.

To know what you need to eat to help heal a bone, we need to look at the raw materials that make up bone.

These raw materials are:

• 1/3 Collagen and non-collagen
• 1/3 Water
• 1/3 Minerals

The worst diet to help heal bones would be a high-carbohydrate, refined sugar, low-nutrient diet.

What to do that may help with the bone healing process:

• Consume a diet that is low-carb and full of nutrient-dense foods, as in healthy keto
• Fasting
• Vitamin E
• Zinc
• Vitamin C
• Vitamin D3
• Vitamin K2
• Bone broth
• Bone
• Trace minerals

Today we’re going to talk about how to avoid carb withdrawal symptoms when starting keto.

Carb withdrawal symptoms:

• Irritability
• Grouchiness
• Lightheadedness
• Cravings
• Fatigue
• Hunger

With the keto diet, what you’re trying to do is switch from running on sugar to running on fat fuel as your primary energy. This process is known as the keto-adaptation phase, and it can take some time. Your body has to adapt to your blood sugars coming down. But, your brain doesn’t need to adapt, it’s already ready to run on ketones. Ketones are the preferred fuel of the brain.

Carb withdrawal remedies and prevention tips:

1. Start keto and intermittent fasting gradually
2. Add ketones (ketone salts or MCT oil)

A big mistake people make when they are starting keto is not being strict enough. Their carbs are lower but still not low enough. What’s going to happen is that they will prolong the withdrawal symptoms. Frequent eating will also make it take longer to adapt.

How to speed up keto-adaptation:

• Bring your carbs down as low as you can.
• Decrease the frequency of eating. Don’t eat if you’re not hungry.
