6:45 Why keto can cause a potassium deficiency
7:59 What to do if you feel tired and weak on keto

In this video, we’re going to talk about potassium and energy. Specifically, why potassium makes you energetic and why a potassium deficiency causes fatigue.

The sodium-potassium pump is a pump in all of the cells of the body. Nearly 30% of all of the energy that is utilized from your body from the food you consume is allocated to this one pump in all of the cells.

The definition of this pump: A mechanism for the movement of electrolytes through the cell membrane.

Electrolytes are electrically charged chemicals or, in this case, the minerals sodium and potassium.

The main goal of this pump is to keep sodium going out of the cell and potassium going in the cell.

When you have different concentrations of electrically charged minerals inside the cell versus outside of the cell, you basically create a battery. The purpose of the sodium-potassium pump is to maintain an electrical charge so that the cell can act as a battery.

The four primary functions:

1. Supports neurons in helping the nerves transmit signals
Low potassium symptoms:
• Brain fog
• Slow reflexes
• Tingling
• Numbness
• Abnormal heart rhythm

2. Works with calcium to help the muscles contract and relax
Low potassium symptoms:
• Fatigue
• Cramps
• Muscle aches/stiffness
• Tremors
• Constipation
• Weakness
• HBP

3. To help the cell establish the correct pH
Low potassium symptoms:
• The body is more acid

4. To help maintain fluid control
Low potassium symptoms:
• Swelling

Potassium deficiency causes:

• Dietary (not consuming foods high in potassium like leafy greens or avocados)
• Diuretics
• Vomiting/Diarrhea
• Diabetes
• Sugar/High carb diets
• Stress
• Keto

* If you started the ketogenic diet and you feel tired and weak, you need to consume more potassium and sodium.

• Memory
• Differentiate between host and invader

What are the key things that make you more susceptible to an infection?:

1. Stress
2. Low vitamin D
3. Low zinc

* Take electrolyte powder

2. Low vitamin B1

How Often Should You Do Intermittent Fasting?

Today, we’re going to talk about intermittent fasting. How often should you do intermittent fasting?

There are a few different intermittent fasting schedules you can follow:

5:2
I do not like this fasting schedule. With this fasting schedule, you eat pretty much what you want for 5 days, and then for 2 days you do a version of intermittent fasting. However, it takes 3-5 days to adapt to ketosis. With this fasting pattern, you’re going to be hungry, and you’re going to have a lot of cravings. You’re also going to be spiking insulin on the 5 days, and the 2 days are going to be insignificant.

Every other day
With this fasting schedule, you don’t eat anything for one day, and then you eat the next day, and you go back and forth like that. Again, it will be rough because it takes 3-5 days to adapt. I also don’t care for this fasting schedule.

The best fasting schedules:

16:8
This is where you fast for 16 hours, and you have an 8 hour eating window. This is really great for the average person. It’s best to only have 2 meals in your fasting window.

20:4
With this fasting schedule, you fast for 20 hours, and your eating window is 4 hours. This schedule has even more fasting benefits for your brain, heart, repair, and anti-aging.

OMAD
OMAD means you only eat one meal a day. Many people do this with fantastic success, and it has even more intermittent fasting benefits than the 20:4 fasting schedule. Some people may even need to do one meal a day every other day.

With all of these different fasting schedules, you can also add periodic prolonged fasting. This is where you fast a little longer (48-72 hours), maybe every two weeks or once a month. This is just the icing on the cake.

A few more things to keep in mind while doing intermittent fasting:

• Always do healthy keto when you eat
• It’s easiest to do intermittent fasting daily
• Look at the purpose of doing it (weight, or health)

My intermittent fasting guide:

• Start out with 3 meals a day with no snacking (add fat to the meal)
• Next, don’t eat unless you’re hungry (go as long as you can without eating)
• Slowly let your body adapt to 2 meals and then 1 meal a day
• Let your body tell you when to eat, adding fat when necessary
• Make sure you’re getting the nutrients you need

Clemencia started having increased blood pressure along with other symptoms 4 years ago. The diagnosis was neuroendocrine tumors. Surgery and treatments did not work, as doctors could not find the tumors’ location. During a meditation in the Progressive in Lima, she felt a strong pain in her abdomen. And when she got back from that meditation, the symptoms were gone, and a sense of wellbeing was her new state of being.

Acoyani’s husband was hit by a car while riding his motorcycle. He broke his pelvic area and was told that he needed urgent surgery. A sceptic at first, he started to believe in the possibility of healing himself after reading Dr. Joe’s book and learning about his story. He refused surgery and he began visualizing how his bones started to reorganize and fix, repeating Dr. Joe’s miracle healing. He did that laying down for 3 months. Currently, he is walking, playing and running with his kids and the best thing is that he became a believer.

Can fasting cause diabetes? There has been a ridiculous study in the news and around the internet, saying that intermittent fasting causes diabetes.

A few things about this study:
• It’s an unpublished study
• It’s on rats
• It’s not peer-reviewed

Intermittent fasting has been known to fix insulin resistance and greatly help other high blood sugar issues like diabetes. But, this study says one of the side effects of fasting is diabetes.

There have been studies about intermittent fasting that:

• Are published
• Are peer-reviewed
• Have been done on humans

These studies also show intermittent fasting can help greatly with:
• Metabolic syndrome
• Diabetes
• And more

The truth is that intermittent fasting is one of the most powerful things for your health, your blood sugar, prediabetes, and diabetes. Intermittent fasting works, and it’s not a fad diet.

In this video, we’re going to talk about why you might experience left-sided abdominal pain after eating, and what to do about it.

Left-sided abdominal pain causes:

• Spleen
• Kidney stone
• Intestinal problem
• Heart
• Pancreas

The pancreas is located on your left side under your ribs. Your gallbladder is located on your right side under your ribs. There’s a nerve called the phrenic nerve under the diaphragm on both sides that goes right up into your neck. Pain could be referred from your pancreas all the way up your left side—causing lower left abdominal pain.

What can affect the pancreas causing left-side abdominal pain?

1. High carb diet
2. Gallstones
3. Alcohol
4. Bad food
5. Medications
6. Infection
7. High blood calcium

What you should do for left-sided abdominal pain:

1. Intermittent fasting
2. Get on the healthy keto diet
3. Consume more vegetables

Stephanie’s challenges with her back started in 2004. She eventually had surgery for a prolapsed disc, but she still had mobility and pain issues afterwards. Fast-forward to the Vancouver Advanced Week Long Retreat in February 2019, and Stephanie finally found the relief she had given up on. Stephanie really wanted to stress the point that she struggled through the entire retreat, without any “pop” or mystical experience…and yet she healed, and has remained pain-free since then.
