In this video, I’m going to talk about what to do if you get sick when you exercise.

Why do I get sick when I exercise?
It has to do with a deficiency of L-glutamine.

• L-glutamine is the most abundant free amino acid
• It’s needed by your white blood cells at high levels
• It supports the gut immune mucosa layer

Low L-glutamine in combination with overtraining or too much exercise may cause:

• Immune suppression
• Less ability to fight infection

What to do if you get sick while you exercise:

• Take L-glutamine (5-10 grams per day)

Other things that can cause you to need more L-glutamine:

• Systemic inflammation
• Chronic inflammation
• Post-surgery
• Trauma/burn

The Benefits of Zinc for a Deeper Sleep

2:08 When to take zinc
2:52 What causes zinc deficiency

Zinc is a powerful trace mineral. Trace minerals are nutrients you need in small amounts. One of the many benefits is it can help you get deeper sleep.

Zinc is a cofactor. A cofactor is something that helps in the activation of enzymes, which are proteins. These protein machines help build tissue, detoxify the body, and many other things. Overall, zinc is involved in 300 different enzymes.

Zinc is also involved in over 1000 transcription factors. A transcription factor is something that will turn certain genes on and off at the right time. This is at a cellular DNA level.

If you have a zinc deficiency, you can experience:
• Decreased growth
• Hypogonadism
• Reduced taste and smell
• Poor immune function.

Zinc plays a vital role in neurotransmitters, especially in the area of the brain called the locus coeruleus. This area of the brain is involved in the sleep-wake cycle. It also helps with the metabolism of melatonin, which is why zinc has a calming effect.

If you take zinc, make sure you take it in the evening and not in the morning. I recommend chelated zinc supplements. You can also get zinc from oysters and other foods. A high-carb diet can lower your zinc, especially when you eat a lot of grains.

If you want to get better sleep, try taking zinc.

In this video, were going to talk about IMO syrup. Is IMO syrup keto-friendly?

IMO syrup: Isomaltooligosaccharides (VitaFiber)

In past cooking videos, Karen and I made certain types of keto bombs or keto cookies using VitaFiber. I was operating off of some incomplete information, thinking that IMO syrup wouldn’t spike your blood sugars.

When you consume fiber, which is prebiotic, it bypasses the normal digestion in the small intestine, and it gets into the large intestine. In the large intestine, your microbes break it down and make beneficial compounds. In this way, fiber does not increase your blood sugars or insulin.

However, when you consume isomaltooligosaccharides (IMO syrup), it breaks up in the stomach and you get another compound called isomaltose. This compound is almost completely digested by the enzymes in the intestinal border—not the pancreas. It has been shown within 30 minutes to spike your blood glucose by 50 points and increase your insulin by 5x. There was also no hydrogen gas noted upon testing. This indicates there is no fermentation going on.

* Is IMO syrup keto-friendly?
I do not believe IMO on keto is a good idea anymore. I do not think IMO syrup is keto-friendly, and I do not recommend VitaFiber anymore. I will be deleting the ketogenic diet recipes that I have that include this ingredient. IMO syrup will spike your blood sugars.

Black currant seed oil contains a lot of nutrients, especially vitamins. This includes:

• Iron
• Manganese
• Vitamin E

There are many great benefits of taking black currant seed oil:

• Improves skin quality
• Helps fortify hair
• Great for liver detox
• Helps reduce inflammation
• May reduce symptoms of eczema
• May help regular blood sugars

One reason black currant seed oil is so powerful is because of a type of antioxidant called anthocyanins. Anthocyanins are the pigments in different vegetables and fruits. These antioxidants help clean out free radicles. They also kill off harmful microbes.

Can High Dosages of Potassium Be Toxic?

0:00 Is there such a thing as a toxic dosage of potassium?
0:14 When to limit potassium consumption
1:13 The toxic effects of high potassium
2:05 A couple more things you should know about potassium
3:08 The right sodium and potassium ratio
4:14 Summery

The first thing you should know is that you will rarely if ever, have a problem with potassium if you get it from fresh food—even at 10 cups of vegetables per day.

However, there are a few exceptions, including if you:
• Have stage 5 kidney disease
• Take an ace inhibitor
• Take a beta-blocker
• Use potassium-sparing diabetics
• Have Addison’s disease
• Have hyperkalemia

Now let’s talk about extreme doses of potassium. When you have between 8,000 and 10,000 mg of potassium, you may begin to feel nauseous. If you are already low on potassium and you take something like 14,000 mg of potassium, this could be very dangerous.

Keep in mind that potassium doesn’t store in the body. If you do prolonged fasting, you can deplete your potassium quickly. To prevent this, I recommend electrolyte fasting, which is including electrolytes in your fast.
If you already are deficient in potassium, vitamin B1 can exaggerate the symptoms.
I also recommend that you keep your sodium and potassium levels balanced. If you consume a lot of potassium without any sodium, that’s going to be a problem. The same problem happens if you have a lot of sodium and no potassium. You need four times as much potassium as sodium, so make your you have sodium and potassium in a 1 to 4 ratio.

In summary, the average healthy person would have to take a tremendous amount of potassium to develop a problem of high potassium levels in the blood. If you have 1,000-4,000 mg of potassium a day, you’re not going to have a problem.
